Chapter 43: Preparing for the Competition
The skills of nurses mainly involve puncture techniques and the use of various medical equipment.
Doctors, on the other hand, handle disinfection, suturing, bandaging, transferring injured patients, and some emergency drills. This includes dealing with situations like shock, allergic reactions, excessive bleeding, and improper anesthesia during surgery.
However, they all need to be proficient in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
This is a fundamental skill that every medical staff member must master.
These basic operations are known to everyone in the health team, varying only in the degree of proficiency, adherence to protocols, and emphasis on specific details during practice.
Lin You, under Professor Song’s guidance, frequently assisted her on stage and, with her meticulousness, had excelled in these procedures and techniques during her doctoral studies.
The stationed health team, however, operated at the grassroots level and rarely faced real rescue scenarios.
When Lin You skillfully and precisely completed a CPR operation, everyone was astonished. They watched her every move, captivated by the precision of each step and the perfection of every detail, unable to hold back their admiration.
Captain Song excitedly clapped and walked towards Lin You, his eyes filled with praise:
“Dr. Lin, you truly are an outstanding talent! Your technique is simply textbook quality, it’s done to perfection. I knew choosing you for the competition was the right decision.”
The head nurse also approached, her face beaming with satisfaction. She gave Lin You a thumbs-up and praised, “Dr. Lin, your speed is incredible, and each step is so accurate. I’ll send Xiao Bei with you to Kyoto for the competition, I believe you’ll achieve excellent results.”
Captain Song looked around at the group and solemnly announced
“Before the competition, Dr. Lin and Xiao Bei will not have any duty assignments. This will give them more time to focus on their preparations.”
He then walked up to Lin You and Xiao Bei, advising, “You two should practice your operations in the conference room this afternoon. You don’t need to go to work from now on.”
Patting both of their shoulders, he added, “Good luck! We all believe in you, and we’re confident you can bring honor to our health team.”
After everyone dispersed, Xiao Bei looked at Lin You with some concern and said softly, “Dr. Lin, I feel a bit of pressure.”
Lin You smiled reassuringly. “It’s okay, don’t worry too much. As long as we prepare earnestly, we’ll be fine.”
Xiao Bei looked at Lin You gratefully but couldn’t help but say, “Dr. Lin, you’re doing so well. I’m just an undergraduate, I’m really afraid I’ll hold you back.”
Lin You gently patted Xiao Bei’s hand, comforting her, “You’re already doing great, don’t put too much pressure on yourself.”
Meanwhile, in Qin Lang’s office.
Qin Lang sat at his desk, lost in thought when a knock at the door interrupted him.
“Report.”
“Come in.”
Lu Li walked in and stood across from Qin Lang.
“Captain, did you need something?”
Qin Lang lit a cigarette, observing Lu Li’s delicate features, which didn’t look like those of a soldier. He noted that despite being stationed here for some time, Lu Li still maintained a normal wheat colored complexion.
No wonder he had the impression that Lu Li seemed a bit soft.
Lu Li was puzzled by Qin Lang’s scrutinizing gaze.
“Captain, why are you looking at my face? Have you fallen for me?”
Seeing Qin Lang pretending to kick him, Lu Li hurried to the window.
Qin Lang took a puff of his cigarette and casually asked, “Lu Li, you must have been popular with girls back in school, right?”
Lu Li was baffled, wondering if Qin Lang was trying to set him up with someone.
He had no interest in dating at the moment.
He replied loudly, “Report, Captain, no.”
Qin Lang looked at him with a sly grin and replied, “Oh,” while digging into his ear.
He complained, “If you’re not, why are you shouting? I can hear just fine.”
Lu Li looked at him skeptically, unsure of what he was getting at.
Qin Lang noticed his confusion and, choosing not to elaborate on his own thoughts, spoke again “Lu Li, with your abilities, you could achieve success in anything.
“You’re from Kyoto, right? Have you heard of the Lu family group in Kyoto?”
Lu Li didn’t expect him to suddenly bring up his family. What did he mean by that? Did he discover the specific reasons for his enlistment? Did he investigate his family? What about his sister in law? Did she know anything?
Qin Lang’s voice continued
“About 30 years ago, a young lady from the Lu family ran away from home in Kyoto and married someone in our C City. I wonder if you’ve heard of it?”
“I wasn’t born 30 years ago, I don’t know.”
“Her name was Lu Jing, and she shares your surname. It seems she and your father are siblings.”
