Chapter 11: The Space is a Bit Unfortunate
Yang quietly tugged at Hu Dashan’s sleeve, “Dashan, let her go. From now on, our Hu family has nothing to do with her. Even if she dies outside, it has nothing to do with us.”
Hu Zhaodi gave a cold smile, “Uncles and aunts, please bear witness. From now on, I have no relations with the Hu family.”
After saying this, Hu Zhaodi walked over to Aunt Ji, supporting her as they left the small courtyard of the Hu family without looking back.
The Hu family members were filled with anger and resentment but had no way to stop her; they could only watch helplessly as Hu Zhaodi left.
Hu Zhaodi arrived at Uncle Ji’s house.
As dinner time approached, Hu Zhaodi followed Aunt Ji into the kitchen to help her cook.
Uncle Ji’s three sons were all married and had already split from the family.
After dinner, Aunt Ji arranged a room for Hu Zhaodi.
After washing up, Hu Zhaodi greeted Uncle Ji and his wife before returning to her room to sit on the bed and practice her skills.
The next day.
As dawn broke, Hu Zhaodi got up early, preparing to make breakfast for Uncle Ji and his wife.
However, when she got up, Aunt Ji had already risen, and the fire in the stove was roaring.
Seeing Hu Zhaodi, Aunt Ji said with concern, “Zhaodi, why don’t you sleep a little longer?”
“Auntie, I’ve had enough sleep. I came to help you make breakfast.”
“No need, no need! Hurry and wash up; breakfast is almost ready.”
“Alright!”
After breakfast, Hu Zhaodi spoke, “Uncle Ji, let’s go to the mountain. You can harness the ox cart; we can get some meat to make our meal more special.”
“Okay, I’ll go harness the cart now.”
Aunt Ji frowned slightly, “Zhaodi, don’t go today. Rest at home; we can go tomorrow!”
“Auntie, it’s fine. I’m not tired. I just want to go into the mountains and see if I can find something. Who knows, maybe we can have meat for dinner.”
“Alright then! Just be careful.”
“Don’t worry, Auntie!”
After saying this, Hu Zhaodi left the room and went to the courtyard.
Once Uncle Ji harnessed the ox cart and grabbed a machete, Hu Zhaodi climbed onto the cart and headed into the mountains with him.
Arriving in the mountains, Hu Zhaodi asked Uncle Ji to wait outside while she took the machete deeper into the woods.
Uncle Ji’s face turned pale with fear: “Zhaodi, don’t go in there. Even strong men don’t easily venture into the mountains, let alone you, a delicate girl. Come back; don’t scare this old man.”
“Don’t worry, Uncle! I won’t go too deep. If there’s any danger, I’ll protect myself first.”
With that, Hu Zhaodi entered the depths of the mountains without looking back.
Uncle Ji was so worried that his heart was in his throat; he wanted to chase after her but was afraid of slowing her down, so he could only pace anxiously around the outskirts of the forest.
Hu Zhaodi cautiously made her way deeper into the woods, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings.
Few ordinary villagers dared to enter the deep mountains; the prey and medicinal herbs inside were certainly much richer than those found near the outskirts.
Before long, she found several medicinal herbs and a wild rabbit.
However, the deeper parts of the mountain were somewhere Hu Zhaodi didn’t dare to venture lightly with her current abilities.
Continuing to explore near the outskirts, Hu Zhaodi found plenty of medicinal herbs, though none were particularly valuable.
Meanwhile, Uncle Ji was anxiously pacing at the edge but couldn’t do anything, so he looked for some wild vegetables near the ox cart while waiting for Hu Zhaodi.
After wandering in the mountains for about an hour, Hu Zhaodi unwittingly entered a central area of the deep mountains and suddenly heard the sound of wild boars grunting.
She stealthily approached, and when she saw the large and fat wild boar herd, her eyes widened in excitement.
“Mama mia! So many wild boars; I’m going to get rich!”
If it were just one wild boar, Hu Zhaodi could practice her skills on it, but facing a whole herd made her lack the courage to even show herself.
Quietly retreating a distance, Hu Zhaodi took out the necessary herbs from her space and quickly prepared a potent anesthetic powder.
After getting close to the wild boars, she vigorously sprinkled the powder.
“Three, two, one, fall!” As Hu Zhaodi finished counting down, the wild boars began to topple over one by one.
Hu Zhaodi was overjoyed; she could sell these for a nice sum.
With money, she could rent a house in the county and no longer need to depend on others.
She focused her mind, preparing to store all the unconscious wild boars in her space.
But unfortunately, she failed.
It seemed that the boars were still breathing, and she couldn’t store them in her space at all.
Hu Zhaodi frowned; the fact that she couldn’t store so many wild boars was quite frustrating.
How could she take them back?
Was she supposed to bleed each one out and kill them before she could store them?
This space was indeed a bit inconvenient.
However, there was no way she would give up on so many wild boars!
So, Hu Zhaodi took out a dagger from her space and transformed into a pig butcher, stabbing it into the boar’s neck.
Blood instantly spurted out from the boar’s neck, splattering all over her.
Ignoring the blood covering her, Hu Zhaodi continued stabbing the necks of the other wild boars.
This place was not safe; if she didn’t work quickly, fierce beasts might be attracted, and she wouldn’t be able to escape.
After stabbing all the wild boars, Hu Zhaodi had turned into a blood-soaked person.
Once she had stored all the wild boars in her space, she didn’t dare to delay and ran back toward the outskirts.
Hu Zhaodi was very fast, but even so, she still heard faint movements behind her.
After running hard to the edge, Hu Zhaodi finally stopped, taking out the wild rabbit and a smaller wild boar from her space, dragging them with great effort toward the outskirts.
When she was not far from the ox cart, Hu Zhaodi shouted, “Uncle Ji, come help me!”
Hearing Hu Zhaodi’s call, Uncle Ji thought something had happened to the girl and quickly grabbed a sickle from the cart and ran toward her voice.
When he saw Hu Zhaodi covered in blood, his heart nearly stopped. “Zhaodi, where are you hurt?”
Hu Zhaodi was struggling to drag the wild boar. Upon seeing Uncle Ji, she immediately panted out, “Uncle, I’m not hurt! Hurry and help me; I’m running out of strength!”
Uncle Ji regained his senses and rushed over to help while scolding Hu Zhaodi, “Zhaodi, are you trying to get yourself killed? Do you know how dangerous wild boars are? What if something happened to you? How would I live with myself?”
“Uncle, don’t worry! I’m fine, really! I first used anesthetic to knock out the wild boars before bleeding them!”
“But what if you encountered other beasts?”
“I can knock out wild boars, and I can knock out other beasts too! This is a powerful anesthetic that the doctor at the apothecary helped me prepare. Even tigers can be knocked out with it!” “No wonder you’re so bold, daring to go into the mountains alone. But next time, you’d better not go. This old body of mine can’t handle the fright!”
