Fall in love?
Yu Xi stared at him in a daze.
He did see this one just now, but he skipped it.
He didn’t know why he skipped it, maybe he subconsciously felt it was impossible.
But if you think about it carefully, it doesn’t seem impossible. After all, many students start dating right after they graduate from junior high school.
“What are you thinking about?” Gu Beilu pushed his head and got on the bicycle. “Get on.”
Yu Xi shook his head, got onto the bicycle, and took the book from Gu Beilu.
Today, both families gathered at Gu’s house for dinner again. Father and Mother Yu watched the two men walk into the house, and lamented that the child they had worried about whether they could raise healthily more than a decade ago is now in high school.
Gu Beilu greeted his uncle and aunt politely.
He hadn’t seen Yu’s father and mother for the entire summer vacation. Come to think of it, this was the first time he faced them after discovering his feelings for Yu Xi.
Father Yu looked at the child he had watched grow up with admiration: “Uncle watched your speech, it was very good. You are young and promising, and you have a promising future.”
Gu Beilu said modestly, “Thank you uncle for the compliment, I’m just getting started and need to work harder.”
Father and Mother Gu looked up at their son, then looked at each other.
Their son was behaving a little abnormally today. When had this kid ever spoken so respectfully?
Yu’s mother continued, “Xiao Gu, don’t be modest. Your uncle Yu and I have discussed your app. It is a very mature product. It is hard to imagine that it was created by a high school student, and there was no team at the beginning.”
Father Yu nodded in agreement again: “It is indeed surprising that you are very talented in this area. What major do you want to choose in college?”
“Oh, by the way, uncle and aunt, I just have a question in this area that I would like to ask you.”
“Oh? What’s the problem?”
“Our class talked about independent enrollment today. I think you are more familiar with college academics, so I would like you to help take a look. Is that okay?”
“Of course! We’d love to.”
The three of them sat on the sofa and read the enrollment brochure. Both Yu’s father and mother were PhDs with many years of project experience, so the Gu couple had no say in this regard.
Mother Gu knocked away Father Gu’s hand that was trying to take the cake and placed the tiramisu cake in front of Yu Xi.
“Xixi, you must not learn from Derek. He looked sixteen when he was six, and now he looks thirty-six.” She said as she helped Yu Xi straighten his collar. “You should act like your age, not just study.”
Yu Xi looked at Gu Beilu talking to his parents seriously and thought that he might be too anxious about the college entrance examination and was already anxious in his first year of high school.
He was afraid that Gu’s parents would worry, so he comforted them: “Auntie, Derek actually has a lot of friends now, he’s not just good at studying.”
“He has a lot of friends?” Mother Gu obviously didn’t believe it. As the saying goes, one can tell a person’s future from the age of three, and she knew it from her own child. “Xixi, only a child with a good personality like you can truly be friends with him. I remember when he was in the third year of junior high school, a classmate finally came to our house for tutoring, but he was also angry at him.”
Yu Xi glanced at the sofa, turned around and explained: “Derek and Shen Di are just like this. They actually know each other’s good points. And, Auntie, do you know? Today is the first day of school, there were many fans of Derek in our class, and they all admired him very much. “
The housekeeper happened to see this scene when he brought the pre-meal fruit from the kitchen. The two families were happily chatting in the living room, just like a meeting between relatives.
Thinking back, every time the Yu family came, their living room was filled with this scene, so harmonious. It would be great if the Yu family had a daughter, so that they could really get married. When he put down the fruit plate, he looked up again silently.
On the sofa, Yu’s father carefully flipped through the enrollment brochure: “If you want to major in artificial intelligence, considering the research results and faculty, both University A and University B are suitable.”
Gu Beilu nodded: “Uncle, you have also been a visiting professor at A University, right?”
“You know this kind of old calendar?” Father Yu laughed. “It seems that you have really done your homework in school. You already have an idea in mind, right?”
Gu Beilu said, “You are right. In terms of scientific research and academics, University A and University B are very close, almost on par with each other. But I think City A is more suitable for future development and life.”
Father Yu patted him on the shoulder and said, “Well, coastal cities have good climates and good development prospects.”
Gu Beilu nodded affirmatively: “Yes. In addition to studying and working, I can go to the beach on weekends.”
Mother Gu had given up listening to her son’s chat, but when she heard the beach, she raised her eyes again. She remembered that Gu Beilu hated water since he was a child. If it weren’t for Yu Xi when he was six years old, she wouldn’t have been able to trick him into going to the beach.
It seems that his personality has really changed.
Yu Xi was eating cake and fruit when he suddenly realized something. A long time ago, he told Gu Beilu that he wanted to study marine science, and Gu Beilu told him that the best marine science major in the country was at University A.
But they were only in junior high school at that time, and it was still a long way from the college entrance examination, so he didn’t take it to heart. Now that he is in high school, it seems that the college entrance examination is not far away, and he should also think about it.
*
After dinner, Gu Beilu put his arm around his shoulder and told the adults that Xixi and I were going upstairs to do our homework.
Watching the two children going upstairs, Yu’s mother said with relief: “After Derek entered high school, he seemed to have grown up a lot. His whole state is different.”
Those who used to be taciturn will now take the initiative to chat with them and ask for their opinions.
At 9:30 in the evening, after Yu Xi finished his homework, he turned around and saw Gu Beilu still working seriously on his homework.
He thought about it, then stood up and walked behind him.
Gu Beilu heard footsteps and turned to look at him: “Have you finished writing? Come downstairs for a midnight snack.”
Yu Xi shook his head, turned his head back, and started to give him a head massage.
Gu Beilu froze: “What?”
“It’s okay, you continue studying. I’ll help you promote blood circulation and keep your mind clear.” He learned it through video on his mobile phone today. Massaging the head to promote blood circulation can prevent hair loss.
The fingers looked long and slender, but they were not lacking in strength. They reached into the short hair, and the soft fingertips pressed against the scalp, kneading it again and again. He carefully memorized several acupuncture points on the head today, and now he pressed them carefully.
Gu Beilu, who had never had a head massage before, closed his eyes in comfort. Although the technique was not skillful enough, the strength was just right. The most important thing was that it was Yu Xi who was giving him a massage, and just thinking about it made him feel happy physically and mentally.
The force from his fingertips was transmitted to his scalp, causing tingling sensations.
Yu Xi pressed for ten minutes and stopped: “Okay, the book says not to press for too long, take your time. How is it, is it comfortable?”
“Yeah.” Gu Beilu opened his eyes and took a deep breath. He felt the light was a bit dazzling. “It’s very comfortable, but don’t press it again next time.”
Yu Xi asked curiously, “Why? If it’s comfortable, why don’t you press it? Is my hand too heavy?”
Gu Beilu’s voice was a little hoarse, and he pulled his hair to show him: “Don’t worry, I won’t lose my hair. You pressed it for so long, did I lose a single hair?”
Yu Xi curled his lips and thought about trying a different method tomorrow.
“Go have some midnight snack first.” Gu Beilu’s expression was a little unnatural, but fortunately Yu Xi was standing behind him and didn’t see it.
“Huh? You haven’t finished yet?” Yu Xi leaned over and looked at the paper on his desk, wanting to see how much was left.
Gu Beilu turned sideways, crossed his legs, and coughed dryly.
“I’ve finished…” He turned the paper over to show Yu Xi, “I’ll go to the bathroom and then come down.”
