Chapter 46: Family Reunion
Ji Yuanming told Ji Yanting about what happened on the street today.
“What does that girl look like?”
Ji Yuanming thought carefully, “She’s about five feet four inches tall, with fair skin, big eyes, and a mole on the right side of her mouth.”
“Send someone to find her now. You must find her.”
“Okay.” Ji Yuanming nodded and walked out of the study. He also wanted to find his sister as soon as possible and reunite with his family.
Ji Yanting looked away, lowered his head, and looked at the jade pendant in his hand. A gentle smile appeared in his eyes,
“Nannan, Daddy finally found you. You and Mommy have suffered so much these years. Daddy will make it up to you.”
Zhou Yu lay on the bed in her rented room, laughing from time to time. Today, she deliberately let Ji Yuanming save her.
The jade pendant was also something she deliberately gave him.
In her previous life, she had worn that jade pendant for so many years. Naturally, she knew what it looked like.
So, she specially asked her master to make an identical jade pendant. When Zhu Yuhu took her back to the Ji family tomorrow, she would be Miss Ji.
Thinking about the wealth and glory of her previous life, Zhou Yu couldn’t help but laugh,
“Ling Yao, what’s the point of you being reborn? You couldn’t beat me in your last life. You still can’t beat me this time, hahaha…”
Early the next morning, Zhu Yuhu had the driver drive to Zhou Yu’s rented house, picked her up, and went to the Ji family.
Ji Yanting hadn’t slept all night. He had been waiting for news from Ji Yuanming.
When he heard that Zhu Yuhu had come again, his face darkened, “Tell her to go back!” All his thoughts were on finding his wife and daughter.
“She said she has something important to tell you.”
“I’m not available.”
The servant went out and came back in a while.
“Miss Zhu said she found your daughter.”
“What?!” Ji Yanting stood up abruptly, accidentally knocking over the water glass on the coffee table. He didn’t even notice.
After a long time, he slowly said, “Let her in.” He wanted to see what tricks Zhu Yuhu was up to.
The servant responded and quickly walked towards the door.
Old Master Ji heard the news and came to the living room.
He happened to see Zhu Yuhu walking in with a girl. His eyes instantly turned cold.
His gaze was like a sharp sword as it fell on Zhou Yu. At the same time, he felt a little dissatisfied with Zhu Yuhu.
“Old Master Ji! Brother Yanting!” Zhu Yuhu gave them a polite smile and greeted them.
Ji Yanting looked at Zhou Yu beside Zhu Yuhu and frowned slightly, “Who is she?” He didn’t know why, but he didn’t like this girl at first sight.
“She’s Zhou Yu. She’s your daughter from the countryside.”
“Dad!” Zhou Yu called out softly, lowering her head and not daring to meet Ji Yanting’s gaze.
This time, Ji Yanting seemed to have a stronger aura than in his previous life. But it was understandable.
In his previous life, Ji Yanting had been disabled. His legs never recovered until his death.
“What evidence do you have to prove you’re my daughter?” Ji Yanting stared at Zhou Yu.
He could already tell from her appearance that she was the girl Yuanming met yesterday. But all the coincidences seemed a little too deliberate.
“I… I used to have a jade pendant, but I gave it to my benefactor.” Zhou Yu sniffed and her eyes turned red.
“You want to enter our Ji family with just a broken jade pendant? What a joke.” Old Master Ji sneered.
Ji Yanting didn’t speak. He just looked at Zhou Yu, waiting for her to continue.
Zhou Yu pursed her lips, “My mother’s name is Ling Xuemei. She was a village doctor. She died a few years ago from a disease.
Before she died, she gave me this jade pendant and told me to come to Beijing to find you.”
Ji Yanting’s hand, which was gripping the armrest of the chair, tightened slightly. He couldn’t help but ask,
“What disease did your mother have?” His voice was choked with tears and trembling.
“Tuberculosis.” Zhou Yu covered her face, squatted down, and cried loudly. A triumphant smile flashed in her hidden eyes. She knew Ji Yanting would believe her.
Old Master Ji narrowed his eyes slightly. His men had said that Ling Xuemei was not dead. What was going on?
Ji Yanting reached out and wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes, “Did your mother have a red mole on her left arm?”
Zhou Yu was stunned. She thought carefully, “Dad, are you not willing to recognize me? Then I’ll leave.”
She said this and started to cry as she walked away. How would she know if that old woman had a mole on her left arm? She wasn’t her daughter.
Zhu Yuhu quickly pulled Zhou Yu back, “Brother Yanting, I checked. Xiaoyu is really your daughter.
She’s all alone in Beijing. If you don’t recognize her, where will she go?”
Ji Yanting suppressed the light in his eyes and spoke with a hint of tenderness, “Xiaoyu, don’t misunderstand.
Daddy just didn’t expect you to come looking for Daddy. Daddy is just too surprised. Daddy will arrange a place for you to stay now.”
A triumphant smile crossed Zhou Yu’s lips. She wiped her tears, exchanged a glance with Zhu Yuhu, and looked at Ji Yanting with tearful eyes,
“Thank you, Dad. I was able to find you thanks to Auntie Zhu. You must thank Auntie Zhu.”
“Of course.” Ji Yanting turned to look at Zhu Yuhu, his eyes filled with a gentle smile.
Zhu Yuhu’s heart raced, and her cheeks flushed red, “It’s my pleasure.” This was the first time Brother Yanting looked at her with such eyes.
Ji Yanting arranged a room for Zhou Yu and went to his study.
Old Master Ji thought for a long time and went to the study.
“Yanting, I think that Zhou Yu is a fake.” He didn’t like that mother and daughter, but he wouldn’t let anyone impersonate a descendant of the Ji family.
“How do you know?” Ji Yanting looked up at Old Master Ji, trying to see something in his eyes.
Old Master Ji looked away and coughed nervously, “Anyway, she doesn’t look like our family. You get rid of her. Otherwise, I will.”
“But I think she’s my daughter. If you touch her, I’ll take her and leave.”
“You!” Old Master Ji trembled with anger. But he had no evidence. He couldn’t go and find that mother and daughter, could he?
“Dad, just go out if you have nothing else to do. I have something to do.”
Old Master Ji slammed his cane angrily, “You’re going to make me mad! Don’t regret this!”
He then slammed the door and walked out.
A mysterious smile appeared on Ji Yanting’s lips. It seemed he was right. His father must know something. Maybe he would see them soon.
Zhou Yu was led by a servant to a room on the second floor. The servant opened the door, “Miss, this is your room.”
Zhou Yu happily walked into the room. The next moment, her face changed.
