Ji Chenai replied, “There’s no need for that…” It was somewhat amusing; he wasn’t afraid of much, but he had a strong aversion to needles, especially intramuscular injections.
Zhou Yaoyun’s expression darkened further. “Brother, could you please take better care of yourself?”
Ji Chenai opened his mouth to argue but couldn’t find the words. As he watched Zhou Yaoyun fume silently, he suddenly thought that if he had a brother like Zhou Yaoyun, he might never have considered ending his own life.
Because Zhou Yaoyun was upset, Ji Chenai’s lunch consisted of only a bowl of bland egg noodles. Zhou Yaoyun had a fragrant taro chicken in front of him, and whenever Ji Chenai reached for it, Zhou Yaoyun would casually remark. “You have wounds; you shouldn’t eat soy sauce,” and then move the taro chicken to his own side.
Ji Chenai glanced at Zhou Yaoyun’s impassive face and then at his own bowl of meager noodles. With a sigh, he resignedly continued eating.
After finishing his meal and preparing to leave the table, Zhou Yaoyun suddenly called out, “Brother.”
Ji Chenai turned his head in response.
Zhou Yaoyun asked, “Brother, why do you still refuse to tell me anything?”
Ji Chenai was momentarily puzzled, not quite understanding Zhou Yaoyun’s meaning.
Zhou Yaoyun continued, “You didn’t just fall by yourself today, did you?”
Ji Chenai instantly realized what Zhou Yaoyun was upset about. It was because he was angry at Ji Chenai for not explaining how he got hurt.
Ji Chenai replied, “Yes, a kid kicked a ball and it hit me.”
Zhou Yaoyun’s face was immediately filled with anger. “Brother, which child was it? You know the kids around here—tell me!”
Ji Chenai did have a good idea of which child it might be, but he wasn’t planning to say anything.
From Ji Chenai’s expression, Zhou Yaoyun understood his reluctance. He clenched his fists at his sides, said nothing more, and took his bowl into the kitchen.
Ji Chenai watched Zhou Yaoyun’s retreating figure and suddenly felt a sense of helplessness. How could he tell Zhou Yaoyun which child was responsible? If Zhou Yaoyun went over and the child’s family discovered that their child was involved, it could cause a lot of trouble.

Author has something to say: It’s not that the protagonist always encounters bad people, but rather that his current situation makes him more vulnerable to harm. Some children are indeed very cute, but others can be quite frightening. = =
