Ye Wenxin laughed. “No need to rush. The Fox Queen isn’t about to come running after me.” After all, the Heavenly Book, Wen Susu, and the kitsune, Luo Mo, were curse-bound to this city.

Ye Wenxin couldn’t share that information with outsiders, so she smiled cryptically. The envoy was thrilled but quickly regained her composure. She began rummaging through her things, searching for something to cover Ye Wenxin’s rabbit ears.

“No need, I can just make them disappear.” Ye Wenxin now had the perfect excuse to hide her ears. But the envoy quickly stopped her.

“That won’t do. Just cover them up on the way. Once we reach the Hundred Flowers Dynasty, you’ll be able to stand proudly in front of everyone,” the envoy said confidently, as if it were guaranteed.

Ye Wenxin was intrigued. She didn’t understand how the Hundred Flowers Dynasty could be indiscriminate towards demons. However, the envoy kept the reason a mystery no matter how Ye Wenxin probed.

Ye Wenxin decided to grab the book fragment and directly inquire Wen Susu.

“You’re asking me about such a trivial matter?” Wen Susu sounded annoyed, her Heavenly Book haughtiness flaring up. She still explained, though. “The Flower Lord is especially fond of animals. They discussed the matter for a few days on the road. In the end, Ye Wenxin couldn’t resist the envoy’s enthusiasm and reluctantly agreed.

The journey went smoothly. They had three run-ins with bandits and four attempted assaults, but it was peaceful overall. On the eighth day, they finally arrived at the Hundred Flowers Dynasty.

The first thing that came into view once they passed through the gates was a vast sea of flowers.

Flowers surrounded every house. The people wore vibrant, colorful clothing, blending in with the blossoms around them. Alongside them were various animals or demonic beasts. Some people were even dueling with demonic beasts, giving the image of a Pokémon knockoff.

Ye Wenxin looked around in surprise. Getting this glimpse of the Hundred Flowers Dynasty made her even more curious about what the spirit beast battles in Beast Taming Garden would look like.

“Alright, Sister Wenxin. You can take off your cloak now.” The envoy’s face was full of anticipation as she waited for Ye Wenxin to reveal her flashy ears. She wondered how much of a spectacle they would make in a place with animal mania.

Ye Wenxin hesitated for a moment but eventually took off her cloak. The surroundings suddenly became eerily quiet.

One second… two seconds…

However, the expected frenzy didn’t occur. Ye Wenxin stood there completely puzzled. The envoy was dumbfounded, too. She had no idea what was going on.
