Chapter 68: Never Leaving Them Again
Ling Yao smiled faintly and shook her head gently, like a peach blossom blooming in the spring breeze, “I just want Mom to be happy.”
Her gaze was sincere and gentle. In her previous life, Mom had suffered so much. In this life, she just wanted her to be happy.
“Yaoyao.” Ling Xuemei was moved to tears. Her Yaoyao was so good.
“Mom, let’s eat first.” Ling Yao picked up her chopsticks and started eating.
“Okay.” Ling Xuemei wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and smiled as she sat down next to Ling Yao.
After they finished eating, Ling Xuemei wanted to wash the dishes, but Ling Yao pushed her out, “You’ve been busy all day. I’ll take care of the rest.”
Ling Xuemei smiled helplessly. She was about to go see Ji Yanting when she saw the courtyard gate being pushed open.
Ji Yuanming, with several men, carried various things into the courtyard. There were chickens, ducks, fish, meat, fresh vegetables, a pile of daily necessities, a refrigerator, a TV, a washing machine, and several bags of clothes. These things almost filled the entire courtyard.
Ling Xuemei stood at the entrance, her mouth agape in surprise, “What is this?”
Ji Yuanming looked at Ling Xuemei and politely nodded and smiled at her, “Aunt Ling, this is what my father asked me to buy for you and my sister.
He said that it’s not easy for you to raise my sister alone.
These things are a little token of his heart.
Please accept them.” He didn’t know if Aunt Ling and his sister had forgiven his father, but he hoped they would. His father had had a tough time these past years.
“Okay.” Ling Xuemei nodded and walked into the house. She was a little moved, but also helpless.
She knew Ji Yanting wanted to compensate them, mother and daughter, but these things were too much.
Ji Yanting heard the sound of the door opening and immediately pretended to lie down.
Ling Xuemei walked to the bedside. Seeing the man still frowning, she felt a pang of heartache, “Are you still in pain?”
“Yes.” Ji Yanting nodded pitifully, looking like a discarded puppy.
“I’ll massage your legs.” Ling Xuemei pulled over a chair and sat down beside the bed. She lifted the covers and reached out to gently massage Ji Yanting’s legs.
Ji Yanting gazed at Ling Xuemei with tenderness, his eyes filled with love. He said softly, “Xuemei, come back to Beijing with me.”
He had already made up his mind. He would take them, mother and daughter, to Beijing. He would give Xuemei a grand wedding.
He would let everyone know that they were his wife and children. He would spend the rest of his life loving them and giving them the best.
Ling Xuemei’s hand paused slightly. She hesitated for a moment and looked at Ji Yanting, “Let me think about it.” She didn’t know whether to agree to go to Beijing with him.
She was a little afraid. She was afraid that Ji Yanting’s family wouldn’t accept her and Yaoyao.
“No matter what you decide, I’ll be by your and Yaoyao’s side.” Ji Yanting’s voice was low and firm.
He had already missed them, mother and daughter, for so many years. He would be by their side from now on. He would never leave them again.
Ling Xuemei was moved, “Yaoyao is in her senior year of high school now. I’m afraid it will affect her studies. Maybe we should wait until she gets into college.”
“Don’t worry about that. As long as Yaoyao is willing, I can help her transfer to the best high school in Beijing.”
“Then I’ll ask Yaoyao.” Ling Xuemei was a little moved. The level of education in Beijing was definitely better than in Yuncheng.
She naturally hoped that her daughter would have a brighter future, but she had to get her daughter’s consent first.
“Okay.” Ji Yanting reached out and embraced Ling Xuemei.
Ling Xuemei’s face instantly turned as red as a ripe apple. She gently pushed Ji Yanting, “I still need to massage you.”
“No rush. Let me hold you first.” Ji Yanting tightened his arms, holding Ling Xuemei tightly in his embrace.
He lowered his head and gently kissed her slightly flushed cheek, as if he had tasted sweet honey. He smiled in satisfaction.
“You’re a rascal.” Ling Xuemei’s heart beat uncontrollably, as if a playful little deer was bouncing around in her chest.
She blushed and angrily punched Ji Yanting’s chest lightly.
Ji Yanting smiled and took Ling Xuemei’s hand, kissing it gently, “I missed you so much these past years. I missed you so much that my heart ached. Did you miss me?”
“I don’t miss you at all.” Ling Xuemei felt like she was about to burn up. He was already quite old, yet he was still saying such mushy things.
Ji Yanting looked at Ling Xuemei’s blushing face and smiled gently, “Xuemei, I won’t let you and Yaoyao suffer anymore.”
“Okay.” Ling Xuemei nodded gently, a happy smile spreading across her brows.
She leaned against Ji Yanting’s warm and sturdy embrace, inhaling the faint sandalwood scent from his body.
She felt incredibly at ease. If this was a dream, she hoped it would never end.
Ling Yao worked in her space all night. As dawn approached, she collected the pills she had refined and exited the space.
She washed up and changed clothes. When she walked out of the room and into the courtyard, she saw Ji Yanting and Ji Yuanming exercising in the courtyard.
“Yaoyao, you’re up?” Ji Yanting’s eyes lit up when he saw Ling Yao. He stopped exercising and walked over.
Ling Yao nodded. Although she had accepted him, she couldn’t bring herself to call him Dad.
Ji Yanting felt a little disappointed, but he didn’t blame Yaoyao. He had wronged them, mother and daughter, and made them suffer so much.
It was understandable that Yaoyao wouldn’t call him Dad.
He would work hard to gain Yaoyao’s acceptance. He believed that one day, Yaoyao would accept him and call him Dad.
“Yaoyao, did your mother tell you about going back to Beijing?”
Ling Yao nodded, “I want to go to Beijing after the college entrance exam.” There were still two months left before the exam.
She didn’t want to move again. Besides, she was confident she could get into Peking University.
“Okay.” Ji Yanting smiled and nodded. Then, he would stay in Yuncheng and wait for his daughter to finish her exams before taking them, mother and daughter, back to Beijing.
But before that, he had some things to take care of. He had to arrange things in Beijing so that when his wife and daughter went back, they wouldn’t have any worries.
Especially his father. He would talk to him properly. If his father was stubborn and insisted on breaking them up, then he wouldn’t care about their father-son relationship.
He had been separated from his wife and daughter for over a decade. He had finally found them. No one could stop him from being with them.
Thinking of this, he turned to Ji Yuanming, “Yuanming, you go back to Beijing first. I’ll go back after Yaoyao finishes her college entrance exam.”
“Okay.” Ji Yuanming nodded in response. He had taken leave to come to Yuncheng with his father. He had to go back to the army after returning.
“Come with me. I have something to tell you.” Ji Yanting walked towards the house.
” Yes.” Ji Yuanming followed Ji Yanting.
