Chapter 95: College Entrance Exam

The sun was blazing, the scorching heat like a wave of rolling heat, making it hard to breathe.

On such a sweltering summer morning, the candidates bravely faced the scorching sun and arrived at the examination hall.

Some of them had determined expressions, as if they were full of confidence in this exam.

 Some looked nervous, their hands clasped tightly, silently cheering themselves on.

Others had a hint of anxiety in their eyes, as if they were worried about the unknown challenges.

“Yaoyao, don’t be nervous. Dad and Mom are waiting for you outside the examination hall.” Ling Xuemei and Ji Yanting reassured her with concern.

Today, Ling Xuemei had specially worn a red cheongsam. It was said that cheongsam had the meaning of “starting well and winning.”

Although she believed her daughter would definitely get a good score, it was always good to have a good omen.

“I know. Don’t worry. It’s so hot. You go back first. I’m fine. I’m going in now.”

 Ling Yao smiled and waved to Ling Xuemei and Ji Yanting. She walked towards the examination hall with a relaxed expression.

“Ling Yao.”

Hearing someone call her, Ling Yao stopped and turned around. Seeing Xu Tian, she broke into a bright smile, “You’re taking the exam here too?”

Not long after talking to Xu Tian that time, he came to find her.

She arranged for Xu Tian to study at No. 2 Middle School because she believed in his potential.

“I’m in examination hall number three. What about you?” Xu Tian looked at Ling Yao with a smile. He was grateful to Ling Yao.

She had given him hope, allowing him to see light in the darkness.

“I’m in the examination hall next to yours. It’s almost time. Let’s go in.

Good luck!” Ling Yao smiled and gave Xu Tian a thumbs-up gesture.

They walked towards the examination hall side by side, their steps firm and powerful, as if they were not heading towards the examination hall but towards the future.

Ling Yao walked into the examination hall and found her seat according to the number on her admission ticket.

 She placed her stationery and admission ticket on the desk and waited for the invigilator to arrive.

“Are you nervous, classmate?” The girl in front of her turned around and looked at Ling Yao nervously.

 She had been sweating since entering the examination hall.

Ling Yao shook her head and smiled, noticing the girl’s pale face, “Are you feeling unwell?”

“I’m very nervous now. And I’m sweating all over. My hands and feet are cold. And my lips are numb.”

“Give me your hand. Let me feel your pulse.”

“You can feel pulses? Are you a doctor?” The girl looked at Ling Yao with admiration.

Ling Yao smiled. When the girl extended her hand, she placed her hand on the other’s wrist.

After a moment, she withdrew her hand, “You have a bit of low blood sugar. Do you have any candy with you?”

The girl shook her head.

Ling Yao took out a milk candy from her pocket and handed it to her.

“Thank you!” The girl happily thanked her, took the candy, peeled off the wrapper, and put it in her mouth. “

After the exam is over, I’ll treat you to dinner. By the way, my name is Xiao Xiao. What about you?”

“Ling Yao.”

“Ling Yao, we’re friends now!” Xiao Xiao’s face was filled with a bright smile. She winked playfully at Ling Yao.

Just then, the classroom suddenly became unusually quiet.

 Xiao Xiao realized that the invigilator had entered the classroom. She quickly turned around.

The invigilator placed the exam papers on the desk, scanned the candidates in the room with a calm gaze, and said in a low and serious voice,

 “This exam is the most crucial test in your lives.

You must give it your all and take it seriously. I hope you don’t have any wishful thinking, because I will be closely watching your every move.”

“Ding-a-ling-a-ling…” The tense exam bell rang, officially marking the beginning of the college entrance exam.

Every candidate gripped their pen tightly and focused intently on this battle that would decide their fate.

The classroom was silent, except for the rustling of pens on paper. Outside the window, the summer breeze blew gently.

 Occasionally, a few playful gusts of cool air slipped in through the open windows, bringing a hint of coolness to everyone.

Time passed by minute by minute.

When it was time to hand in the papers, some students went up to hand in their exams.

Ling Yao put down her pen, glanced at the clock on the wall, stood up, and handed in her exam paper.

As she walked out of the school, Ling Yao saw a familiar jeep in the distance.

 A look of surprise and joy flashed in her eyes. She had just spoken to Lu Qingyun on the phone yesterday.

He said he would be very busy lately. She didn’t expect him to be here today.

Her heart overflowing with joy, Ling Yao couldn’t help but quicken her pace and run towards the jeep.

Lu Qingyun saw Ling Yao running towards him. A doting smile instantly spread across his handsome face.

He opened the car door, his long legs took firm steps, and he walked towards Ling Yao.

These past few days, he had been working overtime, just to finish the tasks at hand as soon as possible so he could give Yaoyao a surprise.

Ling Yao ran to Lu Qingyun. Her eyes, as bright as stars, were filled with a smile,

 “Why did you come here? Didn’t you say you’d be very busy these days?” She thought she wouldn’t see him until after summer vacation.

Lu Qingyun reached out and gently brushed Ling Yao’s messy hair behind her ear.

His gaze was filled with affection and doting, “Even if you’re taking the college entrance exam, I’ll still make time to come see you.

 How was the exam?” His voice was low and gentle, like a warm spring breeze, gently blowing on Ling Yao’s heart.

A blush appeared on Ling Yao’s face. She nodded, “How long have you been here?”

“I just arrived. I bought you some mung bean soup. It’s still cold. Drink some to cool down.” Lu Qingyun handed the cup to Ling Yao.

“Okay.” Ling Yao took the cup and tilted her head to take a sip.

The cool, sweet taste instantly filled her mouth, spreading a sweet feeling throughout her heart.

“I’ve booked a restaurant. Let’s go eat first. After we eat, you can rest for a while, and then I’ll bring you back.”

 Lu Qingyun had already arranged everything for Ling Yao.

Ling Yao looked around and didn’t see Ling Xuemei and Ji Yanting. She guessed they had gone back first, “Okay.”

Ji Yanting and Ling Xuemei were walking towards the examination hall, holding soda and cold drinks.

The sun was too hot, and there were no trees for shade.

They thought they would sit for a while at the shop across the street and come back when it was almost time.

Before they reached the entrance of the examination hall, Ji Yanting saw Ling Yao talking to a man.

 The man was tall and handsome, about six feet tall. Although he couldn’t see the man’s face, just looking at his overall aura, he knew he must be a soldier.
