Chapter 100: Him in the Rain
The summer weather was like a child’s face, changing quickly.
One moment it was clear skies and sunshine, the next moment it was suddenly overcast and gloomy, with thunder and lightning.
Soon, a torrential downpour enveloped the entire city.
Ling Yao handed in her exam paper and walked out of the examination hall. She frowned slightly, looking at the rain pouring down like a waterfall.
The rain was so heavy, she couldn’t possibly walk back. She had to wait for it to lessen.
Ling Yao looked around and sat down on the steps of the staircase.
Looking at the pouring rain outside, Ling Yao’s thoughts drifted, and she became lost in her own world.
As time passed, more and more students walked out of the classrooms. The spacious corridor quickly became crowded, and the noise filled the entire space.
“Who is that person? They came here in such heavy rain.”
“He’s so tall. He must be six feet tall.”
“Even though I can’t see his face, I can tell he’s a handsome guy.”
“I wonder who he’s here to pick up. That person is so lucky.” Those around them looked at the figure walking towards them and sighed with envy.
Ling Yao was bumped. She came back to her senses and heard the people’s comments. She looked up.
In the rain, a tall figure slowly walked towards her, holding an umbrella, as if in stark contrast to the surrounding commotion. He was noble and cool, exuding a unique aura. Even though the rain was pouring, he wasn’t the least bit flustered. He looked like a celestial being descending from heaven.
Ling Yao’s heart pounded. She quickly stood up, walked to the front of the crowd, and looked at Lu Qingyun, who was getting closer and closer to her.
Her heart was filled with sweetness. He had come to pick her up even though the rain was so heavy.
Lu Qingyun stopped in front of Ling Yao. His dark and deep eyes met hers, instantly becoming gentle.
He raised a captivating smile and handed her the umbrella, “Let’s go.”
“Okay.” Ling Yao took the umbrella, opened it in a daze, and walked towards the rain with Lu Qingyun.
The crowd instantly let out a series of envious voices.
“I’m so envious. I wonder if that man is her brother or her boyfriend.”
“That guy is so handsome. If he came to pick me up, I’d be willing to live ten years less.”
“He’s literally my dream prince.”
The voices of the crowd quickly disappeared into the sound of the rain.
Lu Qingyun saw a large puddle of water ahead and stopped. He looked down at Ling Yao’s shoes,
“I’ll carry you over.” Actually, he had planned to carry Yaoyao from the beginning.
That way, her shoes wouldn’t get wet. But he knew that doing so would make Yaoyao shy.
But now, there was no one around, so she shouldn’t be shy.
Ling Yao looked at Lu Qingyun’s broad back and was a little tempted. She hesitated for a moment and gently shook her head,
“No need. I’m fine walking by myself.”
They had only just confirmed their relationship. It would be too intimate for him to carry her.
Lu Qingyun turned and looked at Ling Yao. He smiled faintly, reached out, and pulled her under his umbrella.
He took the umbrella from her hand and put it away. Then, he handed her the umbrella he was holding and picked her up, “Then I’ll carry you.”
Ling Yao was startled by his actions. She struggled slightly, then shyly buried her face in his arms. This man was so domineering!
A pleasant scent of bamboo filled Ling Yao’s nostrils, making her heart beat faster uncontrollably.
Lu Qingyun held Ling Yao in his arms a little tighter and strode forward, a handsome smile spreading across his lips.
At that moment, it felt like he was holding the whole world. His heart was filled with satisfaction and joy.
“Yaoyao, hold the umbrella properly.” Lu Qingyun’s sexy and magnetic voice sounded in Ling Yao’s ear.
Ling Yao only then realized that the umbrella she was holding was tilted, and the rain had already wet Lu Qingyun’s shoulder.
She quickly adjusted the angle of the umbrella, “Sorry! I didn’t pay attention.”
Lu Qingyun lowered his head and looked at Ling Yao’s face, which was as red as the morning sun.
He couldn’t help but smile slightly and said softly, “Yaoyao, you’re so cute.”
Ling Yao glared at Lu Qingyun in embarrassment and buried her head deeper into his arms.
Listening to his laughter and strong heartbeat coming from his chest, she felt an immense sense of security.
Lu Qingyun reached the car, opened the door, and carefully carried Ling Yao into the car, “There’s a blanket in the car. Cover yourself and don’t catch a cold.”
Ling Yao was indeed a little cold. She reached out and took the blanket from the side and covered herself.
“Where are my parents?”
“I asked Xiao Liu to take them home.” Lu Qingyun got in the car, closed the door, and noticed that Ling Yao’s hair was a little wet.
He took out his handkerchief and carefully wiped her wet hair.
“Are you hungry?” His eyes were filled with tenderness.
“A little.”
“Then let’s go eat first.” Lu Qingyun started the car and drove towards the restaurant they had eaten at yesterday.
The rain outside was getting heavier, and Lu Qingyun didn’t dare drive too fast.
“I’m leaving tonight.” Lu Qingyun looked at Ling Yao reluctantly. The time he spent with her always seemed to be so short. He wished he could see her every day.
Ling Yao also felt a pang of reluctance. She looked at Lu Qingyun, “What time are you leaving tonight?”
“Seven o’clock.” Lu Qingyun reached out and took Ling Yao’s hand, “Yaoyao, when are you going to accompany me to meet my grandfather?”
Now that Yaoyao was his real girlfriend, he wanted to introduce her to his family as soon as possible.
“My mom and I will go to Beijing with my dad in a couple of days.” Her parents had already discussed it.
They would go back to Beijing after she finished her exams. As for the house they were renting now, she had already bought it.
The location of the house was very good, and it would appreciate significantly in the future. And when she came back to Yuncheng, she would have a place to stay.
“Then call me when you get to Beijing. I’ll pick you up.” Lu Qingyun said happily. Once Yaoyao arrived in Beijing, they could see each other often.
“Okay.” Ling Yao was also looking forward to life in Beijing. She had already decided that once she got to Beijing, she would buy a few courtyard houses.
The price of courtyard houses in the future would be hundreds of times higher than it was now. Since she had this opportunity now, she couldn’t miss it.
After dinner, the rain had stopped, and the air was filled with a fresh scent.
Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao walked out of the restaurant.
A little girl in tattered clothes walked up to them. Her eyes held a plea and expectation,
“Brother! Please buy a flower for your sister. I just picked these flowers. They are very fragrant. Smell them.”
Ling Yao and Lu Qingyun looked down. The little girl was holding a bunch of wildflowers tightly in her hand.
The petals were still covered in glistening raindrops.
