While the group was discussing, they noticed that Shen Tingyan seemed about to leave. Realizing that if they failed to carry out this plan, Su Wan would likely be furious—and they wouldn’t have an easy time at school—they steeled themselves, gritted their teeth, and quickly dumped a bucket of water down.
With a loud splash, accompanied by the gasps of students nearby, a torrent of water poured down from above. There was no time to dodge, and it landed squarely on Su Wan’s head, drenching her to the bone.
Su Wan: “…”
Shen Tingyan: “…”
Just a step away, he managed to avoid the splash, while she took the full hit.
It was a chilly early summer morning, and the cold water soaked through her thin school uniform, leaving her shivering as the breeze swept over her.
Shen Tingyan looked over at her.
Her slender frame stood trembling slightly, her pink lips turning pale from the cold, her face completely drained of color.
The early summer sunlight revealed her soaked figure in sharp detail.
The thin mint-green school shirt clung to her skin, outlining her delicate shoulders, the faint contours of her developing form, and her fair, peach-like skin.
Abruptly, Shen Tingyan looked away.
Without a word, he took off his jacket and dropped it onto Su Wan’s shoulders, covering her up.
By then, a small crowd of students, both boys and girls, had gathered, and a teacher was hurrying over from a distance. Some had already recognized Su Wan as the one drenched and gasped, silently pitying whoever had dumped the water.
Of all people to mess with, they had to choose Su Wan; they were probably in for some serious trouble.
Shen Tingyan was already long gone by then.
Since this was a private school with excellent medical facilities and an on-call nurse, minor colds were easily managed. Su Wan sighed at her bad luck and, accompanied by a few girls, went to the school clinic to change into fresh clothes.
Comedy and tragedy had struck simultaneously.
Shen Tingyan’s “protagonist halo” had shielded him from disaster this time.
Meanwhile, Su Wan, after changing clothes, began to run a high fever.
