Chapter 145: Abandonment
Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt, after taking the medicine prescribed by Mr. Zhao, felt her mental state had improved significantly.
At this moment, she was comfortably leaning back on the bed, engrossed in reading the latest issue of “Story Time.”
Beside her, the maid diligently fed her chopped apples and gently wiped the juice that dripped from her lips with a handkerchief.
Suddenly, the door to the room was slammed open, making a loud “bang” sound.
Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt turned her head in surprise. She saw her husband, mother-in-law, and younger brother’s family standing there, their faces full of anger, storming into the room.
“Lu Hongyan, you jinx! You haven’t caused enough trouble for my son, now you’ve gotten Xuxu arrested.
Divorce! We’re getting a divorce today.” Her mother-in-law pointed her finger at Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt’s nose and started scolding her, her voice filled with resentment and reprimand.
“How can you be so vicious? Xuxu just returned from abroad. How did she offend you?
Why would you harm her like this?” Lin Xuxu’s mother glared fiercely at Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt, her eyes as if they could devour her.
Faced with this sudden accusation, Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt looked shocked and confused,
“What do you mean?” She couldn’t understand what she had done wrong to warrant such abuse.
“What do you mean? You dare ask what I mean!” Lin Xuxu’s mother roared angrily, her voice trembling with rage,
“Your nephew is already married, but you’re still instigating my daughter to be a third party and break up their marriage.
If you have something against me, you can come directly to me. Why involve an innocent child?
I won’t let you get away with this today. I’m going to teach you a lesson, you heartless woman!”
Lin Xuxu’s mother became even more agitated. She didn’t care that Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt was still sick. She raised her hand and slapped her hard.
Seeing this, the maid quickly dodged to the side in fear.
“Ouch… Stop hitting! It hurts so much… I really didn’t want to harm Xuxu! I did this for Xuxu’s own good… Ouch…
Old Lin, come over here and pull your wife away… She’s gone crazy! Ouch…” Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face.
She was filled with grievance. Since she was a child, when had she ever been treated like this?
The Lin family members stood by and watched coldly, unmoved. They now hated Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt.
If it weren’t for her, why would Lu Qingyun have targeted their family? How could Xuxu have been arrested? It was all because of her.
In the past, they had been so obedient and flattering towards her because she was the daughter of the Lu family.
But now, the Lu family had abandoned her. Since that was the case, they naturally had no scruples.
Lin Xuxu’s mother stopped hitting her when she was tired. Looking at Lu Qingyun’s eldest aunt, who was covered in tears and snot, she felt disgusted and snorted in disdain.
Old Mrs. Lin gave her son a look.
Lin Muchuan nodded knowingly, then took out a divorce agreement from his pocket and walked forward.
“Hongyan, things have come to this. Let’s just call it quits.” Lin Muchuan said expressionlessly.
He had never truly loved Lu Hongyan. The reason he married her back then was simply because he was attracted to her status as the daughter of the Lu family.
She could bring him and the entire Lin family many benefits.
Over the years, thanks to Lu Hongyan’s family background, their Lin family had benefited greatly.
But now, Lu Hongyan had foolishly offended Lu Qingyun, causing the Lu family to abandon her.
Without the Lu family as her backing, Lu Hongyan was like a bird with broken wings, no longer of any use.
“What are you saying? You want to divorce me?” Lu Hongyan’s eyes widened. Her face was full of disbelief.
She stared intently at Lin Muchuan, as if trying to see into his heart and understand his true thoughts.
She couldn’t believe that this man, who had sworn to love her forever no matter what, would ask for a divorce when she was at her most vulnerable! How could this be?
How could she accept it?
“Yes, I want to divorce you.” Lin Muchuan nodded without hesitation.
His tone was firm, leaving no room for compromise. He had long been fed up with this woman.
For all these years, Lu Hongyan had always relied on her status as the daughter of the Lu family.
She had been bossy and arrogant towards him, her husband, and even worse to his family.
She would fly off the handle at the slightest provocation, completely disregarding their feelings.
“Why?” Lu Hongyan, ignoring the pain in her body, struggled to reach out and grab Lin Muchuan’s collar.
Her face was full of confusion and bewilderment. She stared directly at Lin Muchuan, trying to find an answer in his eyes. However, all she saw was coldness and determination.
Lin Muchuan sneered, “You ask me why? Lu Hongyan, how have you treated our Lin family since you married into it?
Do you have any self-awareness? Now the Lu family has abandoned you, and you have cancer.
What use are you to our Lin family? Sign it. It’s not good for you to drag things out.”
He disgustedly brushed Lu Hongyan’s hand away.
Lu Hongyan was pushed away by Lin Muchuan and fell heavily onto the bed. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked at Lin Muchuan with anger and disappointment,
“Lin Muchuan, you heartless bastard! If it weren’t for me, where would your Lin family be today?”
Now she realized that all the kindness the Lin family had shown her over the years was a sham. Without the Lu family, she, Lu Hongyan, was nothing.
If she had seen through the Lin family’s true nature earlier, she wouldn’t have instigated Lin Xuxu to force a marriage with Qingyun and strengthen the ties between the Lin family and the Lu family.
She did all this for the Lin family. She hoped that the Lin family would become stronger.
Now she realized it was just her wishful thinking. The Lin family only used her. Now that she was no longer useful, they mercilessly kicked her out. How ironic!
“Pfft!” A large mouthful of bright red blood spurted from Lu Hongyan’s mouth like an arrow, splattering onto the white bed sheet, forming a shocking blood flower. Her already pale face became even paler.
Lu Hongyan looked at the Lin family with resentment and anger. She slowly closed her eyes, her body slumped to the side, and she fell unconscious.
Lin Muchuan looked down at his shirt. It was stained with a few spots of bright red blood.
He wrinkled his nose in disgust, reached out, grabbed Lu Hongyan’s hand, dipped it in some of the blood she had coughed up, and pressed a clear handprint on the divorce agreement without hesitation.
Looking at the bright red handprint on the divorce agreement, Lin Muchuan smiled in satisfaction.
From now on, he would have nothing to do with Lu Hongyan. He had finally escaped this marriage that had brought him pain and oppression.
He could now freely find other women outside, without having to sneak around and worry about Lu Hongyan finding out.
Lin Muchuan glanced at Lu Hongyan with disdain and contempt, then turned and walked out of the ward with a light step.
“Tsk! You wretched woman. You’re such a bad omen!” Old Mrs. Lin cursed, following Lin Muchuan.
Soon, only Lu Hongyan, lying quietly on the bed, and the maid who was taking care of her remained in the ward.
The entire room was unusually quiet and lifeless, as if time had frozen.
