Chapter 146: Family Housing Complex
The fragrance of the pills flowed gently through the air like a clear spring.
From the pill furnace, there were occasional crisp and pleasant clinking sounds, as melodious as celestial music.
A glimmer of joy flashed in Ling Yao’s eyes. She picked up the jade bottle she had prepared and carefully collected the pills one by one.
Looking at the round, smooth, brightly colored pills, Ling Yao felt a sense of accomplishment.
This was the first time she had successfully refined third-level pills.
Although the quality of the pills wasn’t perfect, she believed that it wouldn’t be long before she could refine third-level pills with the most perfect quality.
After putting away the jade bottle containing the pills, Ling Yao sat quietly, closed her eyes, and replayed the process of refining the pills in her mind.
Every detail, every moment she controlled the temperature of the flame and the changes in the properties of the herbs…
After a while, Ling Yao opened her eyes and took another batch of herbs to start refining again.
Time passed unnoticed. The sky outside gradually turned a pale gray, and the morning light shone through the clouds onto the earth.
The sky, which had been pitch black, was now gradually turning orange.
The silent streets were slowly coming to life. Early-rising housewives walked in groups, their faces beaming with smiles as they greeted each other.
The roadside stalls selling breakfast were crowded with people. Some were savoring delicious food, while others were in a hurry, directly grabbing steaming breakfast to go.
There were also children with backpacks going to school, chasing and playing, their laughter echoing in the air.
These scenes formed a vivid and harmonious picture of life.
Ling Yao put away the pills she had just refined. This batch of pills was significantly better in quality than the previous batch.
She checked the time and saw that it was almost eight o’clock. Ling Yao stood up, stretched, and exited her space.
As soon as she finished washing up, she heard Ling Xuemei calling from outside.
“Yaoyao, are you awake?”
Ling Yao opened the door, “Mom!”
Ling Xuemei smiled, her eyes full of love, “Qingyun is here. He’s waiting for you downstairs.”
Unconsciously, her daughter had grown up and gotten married. Time really flies.
Looking back, the hardships and difficulties they had experienced seemed like a dream, but thankfully, they had finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel.
“Okay!” Ling Yao’s face lit up with a happy smile. She walked downstairs with light steps.
She was going to move to the family housing complex with Qingyun tomorrow. They would return to hold their wedding before their wedding next month.
Lu Qingyun heard the approaching footsteps and turned his head. When he saw Ling Yao, a doting and gentle smile instantly spread across his handsome face.
When Ling Yao got closer, he reached out his right hand and took Ling Yao’s hand.
“Have you had breakfast?” Ling Yao looked up at Lu Qingyun. Her eyes were as bright and captivating as stars in the night sky.
“I have. You go eat breakfast.” Lu Qingyun had been there for a while. He knew Ling Yao had just woken up.
“Then you stay and eat with me.” Ling Yao said coquettishly, shaking Lu Qingyun’s hand.
“Okay!” Lu Qingyun affectionately patted Ling Yao’s head, took her hand, and walked towards the dining room together.
They had a sweet and satisfying breakfast together.
After they finished eating, Lu Qingyun took out a white handkerchief and gently wiped the corner of Ling Yao’s mouth,
“We’ll go to the family housing complex later. See if there’s anything you need to buy.”
They were moving to the family housing complex tomorrow. He wanted Yaoyao to be comfortable there.
A sweet smile spread across Ling Yao’s face, “Okay, let’s go.”
“Okay.” Lu Qingyun took Ling Yao’s hand and walked out with her.
As they passed the living room, Ling Xuemei called out to them, “Yaoyao, Qingyun, come back early today. We’ll have dinner together tonight.”
Yaoyao was going to live in the family housing complex tomorrow, and it wouldn’t be as easy to see her daughter after that, so she wanted to have a good family gathering tonight.
“Okay, Mom!” Ling Yao nodded.
Ling Xuemei walked over and took out a stack of money, handing it to Ling Yao,
“Yaoyao, this is a little something from Dad and Mom. Buy whatever you want. If it’s not enough, ask Mom for more.”
“Mom, I have my own money. You and Dad keep this.” Ling Yao pushed the money back to Ling Xuemei.
Longteng Pharmaceuticals, and her investments in other industries, were making money every day. She was already a little rich.
“Your money is your money. This is from Dad and Mom. If you don’t take it, we’ll be angry.” Ling Xuemei deliberately put on a stern face to scare her.
“Okay, okay. I’ll take it. Don’t be angry.” Ling Yao quickly took the money with a smile and then hugged Ling Xuemei, acting cute, “Mom is the best!”
“You’re so grown up, and you’re still acting cute. You’re so shameless.” Ling Xuemei was amused by Ling Yao. She reached out and playfully tapped her forehead.
Ling Yao giggled, “No matter how old I am, as long as I’m with Mom, I’ll always be a child.”
With that, she quickly kissed Ling Xuemei’s cheek, then giggled and let go, waving goodbye to Ling Xuemei, “Mom! We’re going!”
“See you later, Mom!” Lu Qingyun greeted Ling Xuemei and then followed Ling Yao.
He and Yaoyao had already gotten their marriage license and were now legally married, so it was only right for him to address her mother as “Mom.”
“Be careful on the road. Drive slowly!” Ling Xuemei stood there, watching them leave until their figures disappeared from sight.
Then, she slowly turned away.
The car sped along the road, transitioning from a flat, wide road to a bumpy mountain path.
After an hour’s drive, a row of orderly buildings finally appeared in front of them.
Lu Qingyun gently pressed the brakes and slowed down.
The two guards at the gate had sharp eyes. They had noticed Lu Qingyun’s car from afar.
As the car approached, they quickly stood up straight and saluted solemnly with a standard military salute.
Lu Qingyun parked the car steadily, rolled down the driver’s side window, took out Ling Yao’s ID, and handed it to one of the guards.
This was Yaoyao’s first visit to the family housing complex, and according to regulations, she had to register.
The guard flipped through the ID, looked down at Ling Yao, and then respectfully handed the ID back to Lu Qingyun.
He stepped forward and opened the large iron gate to allow the car to pass.
As the car entered the family housing complex, a row of five-story apartment buildings came into view.
A few military wives were gathered under a large tree in the courtyard, chatting and relaxing.
When they saw a car coming in, they all looked over curiously.
“Did you hear? Captain Lu got married. He’s bringing his wife to our family housing complex tomorrow.”
