Chapter 566: Come On, Let’s Have Fun~

The two looked at each other. The envoy turned to one of her subordinates and said, “Go and find out what’s going on.”

The subordinate immediately rushed off to gather information from the nearby common folk. Feeling bored while waiting, Ye Wenxin leaned against a wall. Just then, she noticed a small child walking out of the alley.

When she looked closer, she saw that the child had a pair of bovine horns on his head. The boy glanced at the rabbit ears on top of Ye Wenxin’s head. He snorted derisively, not even trying to hide the condescension in his gaze.

Ye Wenxin blinked. To her knowledge, Liu City was the only home to demons. But seeing someone with horns appear before her made her momentarily mistake him for one. When she used her divine sense to probe, though, she found that this child was nothing more than an ordinary human.

She wondered how he’d come by those unusually realistic bovine horns.

Meanwhile, the envoy’s subordinate returned and informed them of a peculiar shop that had recently opened in the city. This shop specialized in selling fake animal ears, horns, and other similar accessories.

Given the Hundred Flowers Dynasty’s fondness for animals, its citizenry was naturally intrigued by such ornaments. The shop quickly became a sensation, especially among children, who adored these accessories and loved to show them off.

Although adults also found the accessories interesting, most were too embarrassed to wear them in public. As a result, the shop became popular, but few dared to walk around with animal-themed adornments. Thus, when people saw Ye Wenxin wearing her rabbit ears, they didn’t take her for a demon but simply someone courageous.

After learning the whole story, Ye Wenxin felt a certain kinship with the shop owner and grew curious about the craftsman who could create such lifelike ears and horns.

She shared her thoughts with the envoy, who was also quite intrigued. However, she still preferred Ye Wenxin accompany her to the palace first for an audience with the Flower Lord.

Ye Wenxin considered it before agreeing.

Her rabbit ears stood out conspicuously as they walked down the street. People would cast occasional disdainful glances in her direction, whispering among themselves.

Ye Wenxin figured she was a little too tall, which led to these misunderstandings. So, she said, “By the way, you won’t mind if I adjust my height a bit, Envoy Hua Ju?”

Ye Wenxin’s nonchalant tone made it sound like no big deal. However, the idea was pure fantasy for ordinary humans. The envoy nodded eagerly, watching Ye Wenxin with anticipation. But after a blink, she found Ye Wenxin’s height had become 150cm (4’11) from her original 170cm (5’7). The new height put her just at the envoy’s shoulder level.

The envoy stared in astonishment. She knew that while demons could transform, they couldn’t typically alter specific physical attributes once transformed. But Ye Wenxin was a cultivator. With her Bone-shrinking Technique, she could modify fixed physical traits.

“You’re incredible, Lady Wenxin.” The envoy gave her a thumbs-up, launching into a series of compliments. Ye Wenxin managed a slight smile. She could tell some serious-sounding nonsense to ordinary mortals but still felt slightly guilty for it.

The two resumed making their way to the palace. Ye Wenxin’s reduced height made her rabbit ears much less noticeable, and people’s attention toward her waned. No one suspected she was a cultivator masquerading as a rabbit demon.

After walking a short while, they reached a checkpoint. The envoy spoke briefly with the guards stationed there. Before long, they arranged for a carriage. Ye Wenxin looked on curiously. Upon asking, she learned that the palace was atop a mountain peak. The journey there would take a considerable amount of time on foot.

The trip would be lengthy, even on a carriage. So, the envoy had decided to take care of this most troublesome matter first thing after returning to the Hundred Flower Dynasty.

Ye Wenxin nodded as she observed the steep mountain path and then the horses. They didn’t appear thrilled about the imminent climb.

“Maybe we should try a different way to get up the mountain,” she suggested, already sensing this journey would be long and tedious.

“Are you going to transform into something round and let me ride on your back, Lady Wenxin?” The animal lover envoy’s eyes lit up with excitement at the thought.

Ye Wenxin flashed a mysterious smile and lightly touched the ground, silently summoning the furballs. In an instant, eight furballs emerged from the ground with their fluffy bodies. They had evolved to look more and more like beckoning cats, with large, round eyes and small mouths, resembling living plush toys.

Recently, thanks to receiving ample Yin energy from Ye Wenxin and the lack of mistreatment from Ghost Mother, the furballs had started to grow more splendid and lovable.

The envoy’s heart melted at the sight. She lunged forward, hoping to scoop them up. But the furballs only stuck close to Ye Wenxin. When they saw the human approaching, they quickly shuffled away in unison, giving her a look of disdain. Ye Wenxin chuckled as the envoy stumbled to the ground before admonishing the furballs gently, “Hua Ju is my friend. You mustn’t bully her.”

The furballs stared at Ye Wenxin with their tiny sparkling eyes. They then hopped closer to sniff the envoy and memorize her scent. The envoy was moved when she finally got to pet one of them, which showed in the appreciative noises she made.

Ye Wenxin couldn’t exactly tell the envoy that these furballs were born between her and Ghost Mother. Instead, she casually explained that they were her loyal companions, always by her side. The envoy didn’t doubt her. She happily settled herself on the back of the green furball, inhaling deeply. It seemed her love for animals had reached an incurable level of obsession.

Ye Wenxin gave a wry smile, but she wasn’t much better. The furballs were her favorite companions to pass the time on dull nights.

The other envoys cautiously climbed onto the furballs, feeling both nervous and excited. Meanwhile, the checkpoint guards were watching with awe and envy, as if they, too, wished they could abandon their duties and experience the joy of riding on the furballs.

However, the experience wasn’t quite as delightful as they first thought. The furballs moved at a speed far beyond what any ordinary person could endure. Even when they slowed down, they were still incredibly fast. The envoys’ screams filled the air of the steep mountain trail.

Ye Wenxin laughed her ass off at the scene. She was seated calmly atop the white furball with her legs crossed, appearing perfectly at ease.

She had intended to relax and enjoy the sights of the Hundred Flowers Dynasty. However, she suddenly glimpsed a pair of blood-red eyes staring at her from the air.

When Ye Wenxin took another look, those red eyes were gone, as if they had been nothing but a figment of her imagination. Mystified, she scanned her surroundings once more, but there was no sign of those eyes anywhere.
