Chapter 36
After the little white cat jumped into the pocket, she didn’t fully nestle inside. Instead, she poked out her two pink-white ears, shook them a bit, and in the next instant, she stuck out her emerald-green eyes.
Although she trusted that this big guy wouldn’t harm her, she still remained cautious. After all, one must always be vigilant, especially after witnessing the behaviors of Lilith and Michelle.
The big guy had a cat hidden in his arms, and his mood was a mix of excitement and nervousness. He kept glancing around, worried that someone might notice the little cat in his embrace.
Since the cat had her head poking out, he couldn’t exactly make her tuck it back in. The little cat was so cute, so of course, he didn’t want to do anything to stop her from doing whatever she liked!
He held his hand to his chest and sneaked toward the area where the aircraft was parked.
It was a coincidence that he appeared here this time. Han Luofeng had been at the studio all day and received a call from the company as it was getting dark. The Han family’s business was spread across the interstellar space, with their headquarters in the central district of the main star. Han Luofeng, the eldest son, hadn’t fully taken over the company yet, but he had been working in the company for several years.
Due to the recent live stream, he hadn’t been back to the company for several days. Today, he took some time to come back, coincidentally near this restaurant.
And the driver, today, was here to buy food for Han Luofeng, who had been working overtime.
The driver sneaked over to the aircraft, preparing to leave, when suddenly someone called out, “Han Meng.”
The big guy froze, then quickly turned around. “Young Master Han, you’re down too?”
Han Luofeng nodded. He had originally asked his driver to buy food, but when he suddenly remembered Qing Liu, staying next door to the hotel, he decided to return earlier. He thought he might be able to talk to Qing Liu about the contract and have a meal together.
So, he had come down. But now, he thought his driver seemed a bit odd—sneaking around with a suspicious look. It looked, how should he put it… a bit corrupt.
All the people around Han Luofeng were carefully selected and trained by him, and he had never expected his personal bodyguard and driver to show such a strange side of himself.
Han Meng, upon seeing Han Luofeng, didn’t immediately walk over. Instead, he kept sneaking glances around, making sure no one was watching. Although it was already dark, the lights were bright as day, and Han Meng, being cautious by nature, remained vigilant.
Han Luofeng rubbed his forehead, a bit impatient, and said, “What exactly are you doing?”
Han Meng finally nervously walked over. As he got closer, Han Luofeng noticed his jacket was open, and he was hiding something in his arms, carefully shielding it with his hand as though trying to be discreet.
Han Luofeng, who had little patience for anyone except the little cat, especially his subordinates, stood still and frowned at Han Meng. He thought to himself, if Han Meng didn’t give him a reasonable explanation, he’d send him back to the family estate to do farm work.
Han Meng nervously approached Han Luofeng. Once he confirmed there was no one around, he lowered his voice and said, “Young Master Han, take a look.”
Han Luofeng impatiently responded, “Look at what?”
He certainly didn’t think Han Meng had anything worth looking at.
However, just as his annoyed gaze fell on Han Meng’s arms, a soft, delicate meow reached his ears.
“Meow?”
The little white cat, upon hearing Han Luofeng’s voice, struggled to wriggle out of Han Meng’s pocket. Soon, two tiny pink front paws emerged from the pocket.
Han Luofeng felt as if he had stopped breathing.
He stared in shock at the little white cat squatting inside Han Meng’s inner pocket.
The cat’s ears, nose, and paws were all pink, and her fur was pure white like a snowball. She curled up, only about the size of a palm, nestled inside Han Meng’s pocket. Her emerald-green eyes, sparkling like jewels, were now fixed on Han Luofeng.
“Da Huang!”
The little white cat meowed excitedly, seeming to complain to Han Luofeng, while angrily cursing Michelle for being unscrupulous.
Qing Liu was fuming inside, cursing for quite a while.
To Han Luofeng and Han Meng, however, all they heard was a soft, cute “meow meow” sound.
It had to be said, the little cat’s appearance and voice were truly deceiving.
Who would have thought that such a soft, spoiled-sounding cry could actually be an insult?
Han Luofeng stared at the little cat for a while, then slowly lifted his head and gave Han Meng a meaningful look.
Han Meng thought Han Luofeng would ask him where he found the little cat.
Instead, Han Luofeng’s first question was: “You put her in your pocket?”
Han Meng froze, looking at Han Luofeng’s serious face. He hesitated for a moment before responding, “I was worried about being seen, so I took this measure. Young Master Han, did I make the little cat uncomfortable?”
Han Luofeng gave Han Meng a deep, gloomy look. Whether the little cat was uncomfortable, he didn’t know, but he did feel a little sour inside.
Han Meng quickly added, “Let’s get on the aircraft first. Once we’re up, the little cat can come out.”
After Han Meng spoke, he noticed Han Luofeng hadn’t moved from his spot.
Though he was anxious, Han Meng stood still, not daring to move.
Han Luofeng looked at the stubborn, unimaginative Han Meng, then he reached out his hand and said, “Give the little cat to me.”
Han Meng nervously replied, “But Young Master, what if someone sees us?”
The two of them stood there, and with Han Meng’s sneaky behavior, anyone passing by might think they were involved in some shady transaction.
Han Luofeng looked at him with a deep gaze: “And if someone sees, what does it matter?”
He spoke clearly, word by word: “The little cat is my girlfriend.”
He wanted the whole universe to see him holding his girlfriend in his arms!
That way, everyone would know that the little cat already had someone in her heart, and his competitors would give up.
While they were talking, the little cat was still meowing.
Qing Liu had been cursing Michelle for a long time, but when she noticed no one was paying attention to her, she paused for a moment, then continued trying to wriggle out of Han Meng’s pocket.
No matter what, she trusted Han Luofeng more now and, of course, still hoped to stay with him.
After hearing Han Luofeng’s words, Han Meng realized what was happening. He awkwardly loosened his clothes to take the little cat out.
“Right, right, I almost forgot!”
He embarrassedly said, “I was too nervous!”
With such a small and cute cat in his arms, he couldn’t think straight, except to feel nervous and excited. What’s more, the little cat kept meowing, making him even more anxious.
Han Meng was about to take the little cat out of his pocket when Han Luofeng suddenly reached out, tapped Han Meng’s arm, and gently took the little cat into his own hands.
Without sparing Han Meng a glance, Han Luofeng turned around and strode toward the aircraft.
Han Meng hurriedly adjusted his clothes, which had been disarranged by the little cat, and sheepishly followed behind.
It wasn’t until this moment that he belatedly realized that putting the little cat in his pocket hadn’t been a very proper move.
After all, the little cat was Young Master Han’s girlfriend, and here he was, putting his boss’s girlfriend, the future young madam, into his own pocket! Worse, he had been caught by his boss and had even been sneaky enough to lift up his clothes for the boss to see.
This…
Han Meng’s face twisted in pain.
He had hoped this would help him get a promotion, but now, he could only pray that his boss wouldn’t hold a grudge against him. He couldn’t dare to think about anything else.
Han Luofeng cradled the little cat gently in his hands, his eyes soft as he looked at her. After entering the aircraft, he placed the little cat on his lap and spoke softly: “What happened? Why did you turn back into a little cat?”
The little white cat had just been cursing Michelle all the way, but now, with some of her anger subsiding, she felt a little aggrieved upon seeing Han Luofeng.
She didn’t have any friends or family here to confide in. Even though Han Luofeng wasn’t someone she was very familiar with, he might be her boss and could potentially become her future work partner.
The little cat thought that talking to Han Luofeng might be okay, and besides, she was a cat right now—meowing meant Han Luofeng wouldn’t be able to understand her.
She moved a few steps forward, stretching out her two front paws to rest on Han Luofeng’s stomach, while her hind legs crouched on his thigh as she began to “talk.”
“Meow meow, meow meow meow, meow…”
Her voice was naturally soft and cute, but now, with her feeling wronged, it became even softer and more pitiful.
Han Luofeng felt his heart melt.
He whispered, “Wait a moment.”
The little cat paused as she heard Han Luofeng take something out from his brain terminal—a small black device that looked like an earbud. He put it in his left ear. It was an all-purpose animal language translator, which was extremely expensive. After the live broadcast ended, he immediately bought one.
Now, it was coming in handy.
Han Luofeng adjusted the translator and gently rubbed the little cat’s soft, fluffy head, whispering, “Alright, now you can speak.”
Han Meng, who was in charge of piloting the aircraft, could feel his entire body go cold as he listened to his Young Master’s voice, which was as gentle as water.
Having been by Han Luofeng’s side for many years, he had never seen this side of him. Han Luofeng was usually a bit irritable, impatient, and wore a cold, indifferent expression. Of course, given his position, he didn’t have to care about anyone else’s attitude—people had to care about his.
Because of that, when Han Luofeng suddenly became gentle, even cautious, it was incredibly frightening.
Han Meng couldn’t help but shiver at the thought of what he had just done—putting the little cat in his pocket—and felt a chill run down his neck.
Meanwhile, Qing Liu, seeing that Han Luofeng had activated the translator, paused for a moment before angrily starting her complaint.
“My mental powers are unstable, so I turned into a little cat… And the culprit behind this? That’s of course Michelle, that jerk!”
The little cat continued angrily, “She actually used the excuse of negotiating a contract termination to trick me into a restaurant and made me sit with some middle-aged uncle to accompany him while drinking!”
Qing Liu didn’t actually clearly see the middle-aged man’s face, but her imagination ran wild. “That middle-aged man is a major shareholder of the company, they say he’s really powerful. If he was handsome, I wouldn’t be as mad, but the key point is that he’s so ugly! He has a big belly, a face wrinkled like dry tree bark, a bald pig face—he’s just extremely unattractive!”
When Han Luofeng heard the little cat’s words, he had already guessed who the man was.
His face remained calm, without any extra expression, as he listened carefully to the little cat’s complaint. While listening, he even gently stroked the little cat’s fur, making sure not to let her get too worked up.
Only Han Meng noticed a change in Han Luofeng’s aura. The connection between one’s personal emotions and mental energy was closely related, and the little cat, due to her unstable mental powers, was unaware of this shift.
But Han Meng, with his A-level mental energy, instantly sensed Han Luofeng’s anger.
That person, Michelle—she was done for.
Han Luofeng, as if performing a magic trick, pulled a packet of dried fish from his pocket. After opening it, he handed it to the little cat, softly saying, “Alright, don’t be angry. Have some food.”
It was already past eight o’clock in the evening, and the little cat hadn’t had dinner, so she must have been hungry.
The little white cat took the dried fish from Han Luofeng’s hand, nibbled a bite, and then grumbled, “They’re bullying me!”
While eating the dried fish, she continued to speak to Han Luofeng: “When you become my boss, you have to help me get back at them!”
Han Luofeng gently fed the little cat. Whatever she said, he agreed with, nodding, “Mhm, alright, I’ll definitely help you get back at them.”
