Transmigrated to the 1970s And Being Married to the Villain
Transmigrated to the 1970s And Being Married to the Villain | Chapter 21

Daily Life

Everyone present looked at her gloves with different expressions.

The other female educated youths looked at her suspiciously, while Zhu Wanqin looked at Meng Yuanzheng, who had a blank expression on his face.

What’s with their expressions? Are they implying that the gloves given to Meng Yuanzheng shouldn’t be used by his wife?

“These gloves were gifted to Yuanzheng by Comrade Zhu. He cares about me, so he let me use them,” Lin Miaoyin said with a cheerful smile, looking at Meng Yuanzheng with an ‘affectionate’ gaze.

This group of female educated youths was just trying to sow discord in their relationship. Whether or not she and Meng Yuanzheng were really in love, she couldn’t let them have their way.

Not for any other reason, just because she was annoyed.

Meng Yuanzheng tilted his head slightly to meet her gaze, his eyes softening a little.

“Wanqin, didn’t you say we’re the only ones with gloves?”

“Yes, you even said there weren’t enough gloves, so none were given to the other educated youths who arrived here before us.”

“When did you become so familiar with Meng Yuanzheng?”

The other educated youths began talking all at once, their eyes gleaming with curiosity and gossip.

On the day Zhu Wanqin arrived, she immediately stepped in to help Meng Yuanzheng out of a predicament, later explaining it was simply because they were from the same hometown. However, judging by Meng Yuanzheng’s attitude, it didn’t seem like they were very familiar with each other. He even turned her down when she asked to stay at his place.

“I just happened to have an extra pair, and I met Meng Yuanzheng on the road this morning, so I gave them to him.” Zhu Wanqin smiled embarrassedly. She glanced at Meng Yuanzheng with her bright eyes before lowering her head.

Meng Yuanzheng responded with a simple ‘Mm,’ his face remaining expressionless.

Lin Miaoyin rolled her eyes and thought to herself, I clearly asked him in the morning if Zhu Wanqin ran to the mountain to give it to him, and he said yes, but now Zhu Wanqin says she gave it to him on the way. Which one is true?

This despicable man is clearly hiding something. Could it be that the two of them have already… in secret?

That’s not good, not good at all. She really needs to stop this from happening.

“Zhu Wanqin is really thoughtful. These gloves are very comfortable to use. My hands don’t hurt at all.” Lin Miaoyin deliberately tapped the gloves together, brushing off the dirt from them.

“As long as you like them.” Zhu Wanqin smiled faintly, with an unreadable look in her eyes.

“Ah, how could I forget? I used the gloves, and now Yuanzheng hasn’t had the chance to. Let me check if your hands have blisters.” Lin Miaoyin said, tucking the gloves under her arm with a concerned look as she took Meng Yuanzheng’s hand to check.

It’s all covered in mud, so you can’t see anything. However, Lin Miaoyin skillfully displayed a ‘Oh, I feel so bad’ expression.

Meng Yuanzheng didn’t pull away as she held his hand, his gaze warm as he reassured her, “I’m fine, as long as you’re safe.”

Female educated youths, Zhu Wanqin: “…”

The way the two were acting made everyone uncomfortable. Zhu Wanqin quietly clenched her fist and forced a smile, “It’s getting late, let’s pack up and get some rest.”

The other female educated youths were eager to leave, disgusted by the sight of the two. They silently spat in disdain before turning and walking away.

Once everyone had left and only Lin Miaoyin and the other person remained, she released his hand and wiped herself off.

“It smells a bit.” She sniffed and walked ahead, ” Let’s go home! Finally, we’re done for the day!”

Meng Yuanzheng followed her, and the two of them walked through the fields, along the country road, and like everyone else, they walked home under the setting sun.

She washed her hands first, then started cooking the porridge, while a big pot of water was heating up on the stove.

There is not much firewood left, so they have to go up the mountain to collect some firewood on the weekend.

She took out the vegetable basket that Mother Lin had given her two days ago. The eggplants and cucumbers inside have wilted, but the green beans were still fresh.

Each household has only a small piece of private land, most of which is used to grow crops, and very little is used to grow vegetables. Especially for poor families with many children and elderly people, the food distributed by the team is not enough, so they rely on their private plots.

In addition to that, the land that could be cleared nearby has already been used, the bamboo on the mountain had been cut down by the villagers to make bamboo tools, and all the wild vegetables had been dug up. Newly married couples had to wait in line to be allocated private plots, and they would not be able to get them for several years.

Because the Lin family is the captain’s family, their conditions are better than most families in the team. Also, there are few people in their family, so there is enough food, and they can grow many vegetables in their private plots.

It’s a good thing as well that Lin Miaoyin married Meng Yuanzheng, since he doesn’t have any family on his side. Otherwise, the Lin family wouldn’t have been able to help them with food and vegetables.

Lin Miaoyin walked around. There were houses all around, each with their own yard. They had a small yard too, and behind it was some unused land. It was originally used by a fellow villager from not far away to grow vegetables.

When Father Lin went to the commune to apply, the area approved by the commune included this piece of land, so the right to use this land also belongs to Lin Miaoyin’s family.

However, after the original owner got married, both of them were lazy, and neither of them had the idea to grow vegetables on their own. They simply relied on the Lin family for support, and the land remained unused.

In her previous life, Lin Miaoyin had been following her parents in growing vegetables since she was a child. She had been growing vegetables for more than ten years before she left the mountain village to go to college in another city. How could she tolerate the land behind her house unused?

Now that she knew she was going to be living here for a while, the only thing she could do was make her living conditions better.

With the water heating up, she leaned on the doorframe, planning to call Meng Yuanzheng to take a bath.

Seeing Meng Yuanzheng hunched over on the ground fiddling with something, Lin Miaoyin walked behind him.

In a basket, there were honeysuckle, mint, and wild chrysanthemums.

“When did you pick these?” Lin Miaoyin asked excitedly as she squatted down and picked up a wild chrysanthemum, bringing it to her nose. The bitter yet fresh scent filled the air.

“This afternoon.” Meng Yuanzheng lowered his head and focused on spreading the honeysuckle evenly.

“But just now, we walked back together and I didn’t see you carrying anything.”

“I put everything in the yard first and then came to find you.”

Lin Miaoyin paused, feeling astonished. “You finished your work that quickly?”

“Mm.”

“You went home already, but then came to pick me up?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

She almost felt moved by his actions.

Meng Yuanzheng stopped, turned his head, and looked at her, and said very seriously, “Isn’t it natural for a husband to pick up his wife and take her home?”

Lin Miaoyin lowered her head and thought to herself, realizing it was common in other families, but the two of them were not an ordinary couple. Both of them were villains in a novel. Could they really lead such an easy, simple life?

“The water’s ready. Go take a bath, I’ll cook.” She snapped back to reality, stood up, and walked toward the kitchen.

Meng Yuanzheng put the basket in a place that could be sheltered from the rain and went into the kitchen. The sun was setting, and the kitchen had started to darken. Porridge was cooking in the pot, and Lin Miaoyin was cutting eggplant on the chopping board.

He stood at the door and watched quietly for a while, then walked up and grasped the knife.

“I’ll do it. Go take a bath first.”

“No need. You go first. You’ve been working with manure, you smell,” Lin Miaoyin said without a second thought.

Meng Yuanzheng “…”

Seeing that he remained silent, Lin Miaoyin pushed his hand away and continued cutting the vegetables, “What’s wrong with you? Move aside, you’re blocking the light.”

Meng Yuanzheng “…”

He was upset! This woman…

After Meng Yuanzheng scooped away the hot water in the pot, Lin Miaoyin wiped the pot dry, threw a small piece of fat that she had cut a few days ago into the pot, and heated it up to extract the oil.

She then stir-fried the eggplant, sliced up a cucumber for a cold dish, and once the eggplant was done, she served it with two bowls of porridge.

Meng Yuanzheng came back feeling refreshed, holding a bucket in one hand and a towel to wipe his hair in the other.

He put the bucket under the eaves and just entered the house, but saw Lin Miaoyin looking at him with strange eyes.

“What’s wrong?” He stopped.

Lin Miaoyin stared at him while chewing on a cucumber, “Why aren’t you wearing clothes?”

Authors note:

Meng Yuanzheng: “I just wanted to care for her, and she told me to go away! I’m mad now.”😠

Lin Miaoyin: “So, you’re not wearing clothes to get back at me?” 🤨

Let me talk about the female lead’s character. She’s quite straightforward and cheerful, with a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Yes, she is based on me, hahahaha. 😅

She’s not written to be some genius—she’s just an ordinary person (because I’m not clever enough to write a smart female lead). 🤣

The story will mostly be about everyday moments, with the plot unfolding bit by bit. 🌾🌾🐄🌱🏡

Thanks for the support!! 🥰🥰🥰
