What Should I Do If I Time-Traveled Forty Years Later and My Lover Has Become an Old Man?
Forty Years Later Chapter 4.1

This game store was large, divided into many areas, and mostly frequented by young people. Although Yu Yao was unfamiliar with games from forty years later, she used her sharp intuition to head straight for the classic games section. Unlike the crowded area filled with the hottest games, she was more interested in trying out the classic ones.

This section was less crowded, with only two young men in their twenties standing in front of a row of demo stations, enthusiastically discussing the game in front of them. The games here had brief descriptions, and if interested, you could try them out for fifteen minutes for free. After listening for a while, Yu Yao grew curious about the game they were discussing. She waited for them to finish talking and then asked, “This game sounds pretty fun. What’s it called?”

The two young men turned around upon hearing her voice. One of them casually replied, “Wasteland.” Then, he suddenly widened his eyes, staring in shock at Jiang Zhonglin standing behind Yu Yao, and stammered, “J-Jiang Teacher…”

His companion, who hadn’t noticed Jiang Zhonglin before, was startled and quickly looked at Jiang Zhonglin with a similar shocked expression, nervously calling out, “Jiang Teacher.”

The two young men, who had been so spirited about discussing games, now shrank back like frightened chicks, huddling together and rubbing their hands. Encountering a teacher, even a kind one like Jiang Zhonglin, made them nervous.

Yu Yao had never heard anyone call Jiang Zhonglin “Jiang Teacher” before. When she married him, he was still a graduate student, about to finish and then continue on to his PhD. Unlike her, who had a casual attitude towards studying, Jiang Zhonglin was a thorough academic. It didn’t surprise her that he would become a teacher.

Noticing the two students’ nervousness, Jiang Zhonglin gave them a warm smile, greeted them, and without saying much, stepped aside to avoid making them uncomfortable. He stood in a nearby corner, hands behind his back, adjusting his glasses, and looked at a game advertisement on the wall while waiting for Yu Yao to finish choosing a game.

Once Jiang Zhonglin had moved away, the two young men relaxed their tensed necks. Seeing them like this, Yu Yao laughed and said, “You’re afraid of Jiang Teacher, even though he has such a good temper?”

The two young men felt a bit embarrassed. “Jiang Teacher is indeed very easygoing and has no temper at all, but none of his students would dare speak loudly in front of him. It’s just a reflex when facing a respected elder.”

Yu Yao thought, “What an exaggerated statement.”

One of the young men glanced at Jiang Zhonglin and, feeling a bit awkward, said, “Actually, I’m not really a student of Jiang Teacher. I’ve only attended a few of his public lectures with my girlfriend. My girlfriend’s mentor was one of Jiang Teacher’s former students and speaks highly of him.”

The other young man curiously asked Yu Yao, “Sister, are you Jiang Teacher’s granddaughter? He must really care about you to come with you to buy games. He seems completely out of place here; it felt weird seeing him in the store just now.”

Yu Yao looked at her old husband, who was cautiously studying a mecha game advertisement on the wall as if researching a new field. For some reason, she felt like laughing and casually replied, “No, I’m not his granddaughter. I’m his wife.”

The two young men clearly didn’t believe her.

Sure enough, the two young men chuckled, “Sister, you’re really funny.”
