Chapter 6 : Spiritual Spring Healing

The word “Dad” nearly made Fang Shijun stumble.

He had always had difficulty speaking clearly, and now his voice was shaking uncontrollably.

“Y-you… you are… Xiaoluo?”

Fang Xiaoluo nodded, “Yes, Dad, it’s me.”

The elderly woman next to them heard this and slapped her thigh. “Well, well, Shijun, is this your daughter from the city?”

With that, she hurried outside to spread the news.

Fang Xiaoluo looked at Fang Shijun, who was only forty but seemed to have aged terribly. His half-paralyzed body made him appear as if he were in his sixties.

However, through his eyes and features, she could still see that the original owner bore a strong resemblance to Fang Shijun, perhaps seven or eight parts alike.

“Dad, I’m sorry I’m so late in coming back.”

Fang Shijun’s eyes turned red as he fought back his tears, and with a choked voice, he said, “It’s not too late, not too late… You’re back, that’s all that matters.”

In truth, Fang Xiaoluo couldn’t really say she felt any deep emotions right away.

After all, she wasn’t the original owner, and the original owner hadn’t spent much time with Fang Shijun or the others.

Right now, what she felt was more a mix of emotion and sadness.

But somehow, deep down, the blood tie seemed to pull her to be closer to Fang Shijun.

Before her transmigration, she had been an orphan, never having experienced a relationship with parents, so she wasn’t sure what this feeling of family affection was like.

“Dad, I bought some things. How is Mom?”

“Come inside, come inside.” Fang Shijun led the way into the house. “Your mom is in the room.”

Zhang Xinyan was dazed, but she could still hear Fang Shijun talking to someone.

She lay on the kang bed, eagerly staring at the door.

Xiaoluo, her daughter, had returned?

The Fang family’s house was a small, worn-down place. Upon entering, there was the kitchen, with an old stove at the door, and further south, a large room with two wooden plank beds.

The two sides of the house had two bedrooms each, with kang beds.

Zhang Xinyan lay on the eastern kang bed.

Fang Xiaoluo put down the things on the kitchen shelf. Fang Shijun looked at her and asked, “Why did you bring so many things?”

“To help replenish your strength,” she answered.

With that, Fang Xiaoluo went into the eastern room.

Although the house was shabby, it was clear that it was well-maintained and very clean.

As Fang Xiaoluo looked at the kang, her eyes met Zhang Xinyan’s anxious ones.

“Mom.”

This was the first time Zhang Xinyan saw Fang Xiaoluo, and hearing her say “Mom,” it seemed to ease all her aches and pains. Tears started to fall in a torrent.

“You’re Xiaoluo, really Xiaoluo?”

Fang Xiaoluo walked over, gently taking Zhang Xinyan’s rough, labor-worn hand. “Mom, it’s me. I’ve come back.”

Zhang Xinyan looked at her daughter in front of her and pulled her into a tight hug, crying uncontrollably.

“Xiaoluo, my Xiaoluo.”

Fang Xiaoluo’s eyes also began to sting and redden. She softly rubbed Zhang Xinyan’s back. “Mom, I’m Fang Xiaoluo, the daughter of the Fang family, now and forever.”

“Xiaoluo, my dear daughter. It’s our fault, we didn’t give you a good life, we were too poor, it’s all our fault.”

Fang Xiaoluo sighed inwardly. “Mom, don’t blame yourselves. I wasn’t clear-headed at first. We’re family, it doesn’t matter what kind of life we’ve had, as long as we’re together, that’s enough.”

Fang Shijun, a big man, also shed tears behind them.

Zhang Xinyan cried for a long time before she finally calmed down. Fang Xiaoluo wiped her face, propped up her pillow, and helped her lie down more comfortably.

Fang Xiaoluo went to pour water for Zhang Xinyan, and while Fang Shijun and the others weren’t paying attention, she secretly added two drops of the spiritual spring water into it.

The spiritual spring water from her space was collected drop by drop. There wasn’t much left, as most of it had been used for antidotes for herself and Shen Zheng after Xu Yaqiu had poisoned them.

Before she transmigrated, she had been collecting it for about half a year.

But when she used the spring water this time, Fang Xiaoluo was surprised to find that there was actually more than before.

She had only a few drops left when she collected it earlier that morning. Why did it seem to have increased?

Fang Xiaoluo had no idea.

As for the space’s spiritual spring, it was quite strange.

A year ago, she had gone on a company team-building hiking trip, and it started raining suddenly. She got separated from her colleagues, caught a cold in the rain, and had a high fever. When she woke up, she found herself in a hospital and discovered she had a space with this spring water that dripped drop by drop.

To her surprise, a year later, she had transmigrated with this space and its spring water.

However, over the past year, the spring water had been trickling out very slowly, and she had hoped it would flow in larger quantities someday. Yet, today, after using it, there was still more than expected.

As for her transmigration, it wasn’t much of an issue for her.

In her past life, she was an orphan, raised in an orphanage. Aside from the headmistress, who had been like a mother to her, she had no relatives. When she was in university, the headmistress had passed away, and by the time she transmigrated, she had been completely alone, with no ties to anyone.

“Mom, your fever is really high. We should go to the hospital,” Fang Xiaoluo suggested.

Zhang Xinyan took the water cup. “It’s nothing serious, just sweat it out. No need for a hospital. Why waste money? Besides, as soon as I saw you, I felt much better. Just lie down, I’ll be fine by tomorrow.”

Fang Xiaoluo watched as Zhang Xinyan drank the water, thinking that although there wasn’t much spring water, it should be enough to help her mother recover from the cold and fatigue.

“Xiaoluo, your water tastes so sweet. Did you put sugar in it?”

Fang Xiaoluo smiled. “Yes, I put a piece of rock sugar.”

“Mom, you lie down first. I’ll cook something good for you to help you regain your strength.”

Zhang Xinyan looked at Fang Xiaoluo’s delicate hands. “Xiaoluo, you’ve just come back, let me do the work. You must be tired.”

Fang Xiaoluo gently insisted, “No, Mom, you’re sick. Your job now is to get well. Once you’re better, I’ll taste your cooking.”

Zhang Xinyan was deeply moved, and as she lay there, her pillow became soaked with tears.

Fang Xiaoluo quietly closed the door to the eastern room, and Fang Shijun came over. “I’ll start the fire.”

Fang Xiaoluo smiled. “Alright.”

Fang Shijun started the fire to boil water while watching Fang Xiaoluo skillfully clean the fish scales. Suddenly, he felt a bit dazed. His daughter had really come back?

Outside, there was a lot of noise, and many people gathered at the Fang family’s gate.

“Old Fang, I heard your daughter’s back?”

“Shijun, your daughter really came back?”

Fang Xiaoluo washed her hands and helped Fang Shijun outside.

Fang Shijun proudly declared, “This is my daughter, Fang Xiaoluo. How about it? She’s beautiful, isn’t she?”

The villagers’ eyes widened in surprise. Fang Xiaoluo was stunning, so beautiful that they had never seen such a remarkable young woman.

“Wow, she’s so beautiful!”

“Can’t deny it, she really looks like you when you were young, Shijun!”

“Old Fang, you’ve made it big. With such a beautiful daughter, she gave up her good life in the city and came back to find you.”

Hearing all the praises for Fang Xiaoluo, Fang Shijun couldn’t stop grinning.

Once the crowd had dispersed, Fang Xiaoluo finished cleaning the fish and put the roe in a bowl.

As she turned around, she noticed that Fang Shijun was staring at her.

Fang Xiaoluo smiled and squatted down, “Dad, what are you looking at?”
