Chapter 52: What if you won’t kiss me?
At this point, Luo Qianyun couldn’t even maintain the appearance of being angry anymore.
She was faking her anger, but he was genuinely kissing her.
Cough, cough. Pei Xianxian appeared at the guest room door.
Lu Yunzheng, interrupted in his actions, was a little displeased. His glance toward her was cold.
Feeling the chill in his gaze, Pei Xianxian became even more unwilling. Why did Luo Qianyun get to enjoy such good treatment?
“Qianyun, your father is back. It’s time to come downstairs for dinner,” Pei Xianxian said, then turned and walked away.
After pushing past Lu Yunzheng, Luo Qianyun touched her slightly warm face. “Next time… don’t do it so suddenly.”
“Should I ask for permission first?” Lu Yunzheng’s voice was hoarse, but there was a hint of a smile in it.
“Mm.” Luo Qianyun nodded.
Lu Yunzheng added, “Then what if you get shy and won’t let me kiss you?”
“Then… don’t kiss me outside.” Luo Qianyun said.
Knowing that Luo Qianyun was easily embarrassed, Lu Yunzheng stopped teasing her. “Alright, next time I’ll kiss you at home.”
“Mm.” Luo Qianyun replied, but her face turned even hotter.
As Pei Xianxian prepared to go upstairs again, Lu Yunzheng finally took Luo Qianyun’s hand and led her downstairs.
When Luo Qianyun’s father saw Lu Yunzheng, he sized him up.
Although he already knew that Lu Yunzheng was a poor soldier, he was surprised to find that Lu Yunzheng’s bearing was much better than he had imagined.
This made him wonder about his family background as well.
Luo Qianyun led Lu Yunzheng forward and greeted, “Dad.”
Luo’s father nodded slightly, then turned to Lu Yunzheng. “What’s your name?”
“Lu Yunzheng,” Lu Yunzheng replied quietly.
After reading Lu Yunzheng’s name, Luo’s father said, “Let’s eat first. We can talk more at the dinner table.”
At the dinner table, Luo’s father sat in the main seat, while Luo Qianyun and Lu Yunzheng sat on the left, and Luo’s mother and Pei Xianxian sat on the right.
Looking at where Lu Yunzheng was seated, Pei Xianxian couldn’t help but sigh. “In the past, it was always my brother who sat next to Qianyun, but now… my brother…”
“Ah Qi and Qianyun have been close since childhood. He’s told me several times that when they grow up, he plans to marry her. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have that fortune,” Luo’s mother said, her eyes reddening as she spoke.
Luo Qianyun remained quietly listening. After they finished speaking, she asked, “Should we continue eating?”
“Your brother got hurt because of you. Don’t you feel the least bit guilty?” Luo’s mother said disapprovingly.
“If we’re talking about guilt, shouldn’t you feel more guilty? If it weren’t for your scheming, my brother wouldn’t be lying in bed, unaware of what happened,” Luo Qianyun retorted coldly.
Seeing the atmosphere become more awkward, Luo’s father finally spoke up, “Alright, let’s eat first. We don’t want Yunzheng to feel uncomfortable.”
“It’s my fault. Today is Yunzheng’s first time coming to our home, we should enjoy this meal. The matter between Qianyun and Ah Qi can wait,” Luo’s mother said softly.
Although Luo’s father didn’t know much about military affairs, he was surprised when Lu Yunzheng mentioned that he was part of the Special Forces in the capital and was a captain.
In the end, Luo’s father could only say, “He’s young and promising.”
Pei Xianxian was also surprised. She had initially thought he was just a poor soldier, but now it seemed like he was quite a catch?
Luo Qianyun ate quietly. Occasionally, Lu Yunzheng peeled shrimp and placed it into her bowl, and she ate them one by one.
Feeling the jealous gaze from Pei Xianxian, Luo Qianyun glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow and giving a teasing smile.
This made Pei Xianxian even angrier.
After finishing the meal, Luo Qianyun thought they could leave, but Luo’s mother insisted that she go upstairs to talk.
Luo Qianyun was still uneasy, but when Lu Yunzheng held her hand, it gave her a sense of security.
At the same time, Lu Yunzheng finally understood what the Luo family was trying to do.
After Luo Qianyun went upstairs, Luo’s father asked Pei Xianxian to show Lu Yunzheng around, under the guise of showing him where Luo Qianyun grew up.
Honestly, the reason was rather flimsy.
However, since Pei Xianxian was interested in Lu Yunzheng—not only because she wanted to take everything Luo Qianyun had, but also because she realized Lu Yunzheng was a better catch than Lu Yan—she took him on a tour. During the walk, she intentionally acted gentle and even mentioned how close Luo Qianyun and Luo Qi were growing up.
After a while, Pei Xianxian led Lu Yunzheng to the back garden.
While she “just happened” to get a phone call, she stepped aside to take it. Lu Yunzheng sat on a nearby chair and overheard an interesting conversation…
In the corner, two servants were gossiping, their target being Luo Qianyun and Luo Qi.
According to their conversation, Luo Qianyun and Luo Qi had grown up together, often sharing a room. Even as they grew older, they never avoided suspicion.
Lu Yunzheng quietly listened to their slanders, hearing them describe Luo Qianyun as a loose woman.
His eyes darkened with coldness, a chilling aura surrounding him that made anyone near feel a shiver.
When Pei Xianxian finished her phone call and returned, she heard the gossip about Luo Qianyun and Luo Qi, and it had escalated to an outrageous degree.
She acted surprised, her eyes filled with panic, and quickly explained to Lu Yunzheng, “Big Brother Lu, don’t misunderstand. Qianyun and her brother are just close. He’s still childish and doesn’t understand those kinds of things.”
Pei Xianxian was anxious in her explanation, but inside, she was secretly pleased.
After all, she could tell from Lu Yunzheng’s expression that he was upset by the scandal surrounding Luo Qianyun.
After all, what man would tolerate his wife having an inappropriate relationship with her brother?
Lu Yunzheng looked at Pei Xianxian, his eyes dark and grim. “I know. Your brother, Luo Qi, may be childish, but he’s a good person. But what about the servants gossiping behind the master’s back? Don’t you care?”
“Of course not. I’ll fire them right away,” Pei Xianxian said firmly.
“You don’t need to wait. Fire them now,” Lu Yunzheng said.
“…”
Pei Xianxian was stunned. She had only said that casually, there was no way she would actually fire them.
Seeing her speechless, Lu Yunzheng turned to her, his tone icy, “Is there a problem? Or is it that you instructed them to gossip to sow discord between us?”
Pei Xianxian’s intentions were exposed, and she couldn’t help but panic. She hadn’t expected Lu Yunzheng to be so unpredictable.
They had only known each other for such a short time, but had he already built such trust?
Just then, a servant ran up, “Miss, Master Lu has arrived.”
“Lu Yan is here?” Pei Xianxian was puzzled, not understanding why he suddenly showed up.
Meanwhile, Luo Qianyun also learned that Lu Yan had arrived, as he appeared right in front of her…
Just after Luo’s mother finished talking about meaningless matters, when Luo Qianyun left the study, she ran into Lu Yan head-on.
Meanwhile, Lu Yunzheng was on his way.
