This matter spread throughout the school in just one day.
The chemistry teacher had publicly mocked Su Wan, claiming she needed to score over 80 on the final exam. The students who overheard were incredulous.
Su Wan, a self-proclaimed bad student, achieving such a high score? Impossible!
However, Su Wan, being the person in question, wasn’t worried in the slightest. In fact, she calmly ate an extra bowl of rice.
“Aunt Chen, the soup is especially delicious today,” she complimented.
“If you like it, I’ll make it again tomorrow,” Aunt Chen replied happily.
Su Wan had recently become more gentle and adept at giving compliments, which delighted Aunt Chen. Every day, she prepared meals with extra care.
Thinking about this, Su Wan subtly pinched the small bit of fat on her belly.
Oh no…
She had gained weight.
“Aunt Chen, I’m done eating,” she said, setting down her chopsticks. “I’m going for a walk.”
After a lap around the garden, Su Wan suddenly remembered there was a swimsuit in her wardrobe. It felt like a waste not to use the large pool. She went upstairs to change, wrapping herself in a towel before heading to the pool.
Aunt Chen prepared some drinks and fruit. Su Wan sat on a lounge chair, nibbling on a piece of fruit before standing up to stretch.
She slowly entered the water, the cool sensation enveloping her warm body. It sent a chill through her, but as she began to move, her limbs stretched gracefully, and the feeling of being submerged in the water became surprisingly delightful.
Su Wan swam a lap, her movements elegant and fluid.
Returning from his run, Shen Tingyan stumbled upon this scene.
Su Wan was swimming, her figure maturing with long, slender limbs. Her bare skin gleamed under the moonlight, flawless and pale. Her black hair floated along with her movements in the water, making her resemble an alluring siren.
She suddenly emerged, leaning on the pool’s edge, her wet hair tucked behind her ears.
Su Wan wiped the water from her face and noticed Shen Tingyan’s presence. She smiled warmly and spoke in a soft, syrupy voice, “Good evening. Are you here for a swim too?”
Sweet, enticing, with a hint of innocent playfulness.
Shen Tingyan’s dark eyes lingered on her for a moment before he hastily looked away, his composure faltering. It felt as though a wild beast was trapped in his chest, clawing for release while he struggled to contain it.
His throat grew dry and parched.
A voice seemed to whisper in his mind: Take her, break her, keep her in your grasp.
Her delicate cries—would they not be even more beautiful?
The thought begged for verification.
Su Wan, accustomed to being ignored by him, found his unwavering gaze uncharacteristic and somewhat unsettling.
Leaning on the pool’s edge, she tilted her head and asked, “What’s wrong? Do you need something?”
Shen Tingyan quickly masked his expression, his face hidden in the shadow of the light. Only his cool, calm voice reached her.
“If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me. I’ll help you review for the finals.”
With that, he turned and left.
Su Wan was stunned for a moment.
Was that… Shen Tingyan trying to be friendly?
At school, Su Wan maintained her usual lazy demeanor, reading her book instead of listening to class. Her classmates occasionally stole glances at her, convinced she was bound to be humiliated by the chemistry teacher again.
One of the students seated up front waited for Su Wan to struggle with a problem and ask for help, but after a long time, there was no sign of her seeking assistance.
Turning around, he was shocked to see Shen Tingyan leaning over Su Wan’s shoulder, expressionless as he explained a problem from her workbook.
“…”
Wait a minute—wasn’t Shen Tingyan supposed to hate Su Wan?
During the break, Chang Xiaozhen dragged Su Wan to the restroom, her expression as if she had just seen a ghost.
“Wanwan, tell me what’s going on! Are you and Shen Tingyan… together?”
Su Wan replied calmly, “Oh, he just explained a question to me.”
Chang Xiaozhen looked utterly incredulous. “But he’s Shen Tingyan! We’d consider it a miracle not to bully him—how can you coexist peacefully with him?”
