Chapter 55: Do You… Want to Change Clothes First?
Looking at Luo Qianyun beside him, Lu Yunzhen tightened his grip on her hand. “You must have been adorable as a child…
Hearing this, Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but smile. “Unfortunately, I was already five when the Luo family adopted me. Otherwise, I might still have some baby pictures left.”
“I can imagine it,” Lu Yunzhen replied confidently.
“You can’t imagine it accurately! But I do remember Grandma Dean saying I was very pretty as a child,” Luo Qianyun said with a hint of pride.
Seeing her smug little expression, Lu Yunzhen’s eyes were filled with adoration. “Then when our child is born, I’ll have a better idea of what you looked like.”
C-Child?
Luo Qianyun was genuinely startled by his words. Beneath the dim streetlight, her face flushed. “Who’s having a child with you? You’re dreaming!”
“We’re legally married. If not me, then who?” Lu Yunzhen teased gently.
“But… it’s not really that legal…” Luo Qianyun muttered softly. After all, it was a sham marriage at the start, even if now…
Lu Yunzhen chuckled. “We didn’t sign a contract. What if I decide not to be just a partner? What would you do?”
This time, Luo Qianyun was truly alarmed.
Clearly, under the guise of marriage, Lu Yunzhen had the upper hand in many ways.
Seeing her genuinely frightened, Lu Yunzhen toned down his teasing and smiled. “Don’t be scared. I’m just joking. You’re usually so bold; why are you so easily spooked now?”
“Maybe… we should draft a contract after all?” Luo Qianyun realized she had been too careless the first time.
At this, Lu Yunzhen was both amused and exasperated.
But since he was the one who teased her into a fright, he cooperated fully. “Alright. When we get home, you can draft whatever you want, and I’ll sign it all. Don’t worry; I won’t hurt you.”
“Okay.” Luo Qianyun felt relieved.
To ease her tension further, Lu Yunzhen stopped by a street vendor and bought her a small rabbit-shaped lantern.
As Luo Qianyun held the lantern, watching the plump bunny shadow on the ground, a smile appeared on her face.
The iron flower performance was at the lake’s center, with spectators gathered along the lakeside. By now, a large crowd had gathered.
Protecting Luo Qianyun, Lu Yunzhen found a spot for them. In the dense crowd, the two stood very close.
So close that he could catch the fragrance of her hair without lowering his head. To shield her from the crowd, he kept her securely in front of him.
As the performance time approached, the crowd grew denser. Luo Qianyun found herself pressed tightly against Lu Yunzhen, feeling the warmth radiating from his chest against her back. Her face turned red…
Finally, the performance began, giving her a welcome distraction.
The performer, shirtless, struck a basin filled with molten iron. Sparks of golden iron flowers shot into the sky like fireworks, scattering brilliantly.
Various techniques followed, creating a mesmerizing visual feast.
Midway through the performance, six glowing phoenixes appeared overhead, soaring freely in the night sky with the help of drones.
The audience didn’t know where to focus—on the phoenixes above or the dazzling iron flowers below.
After the performance, Luo Qianyun still seemed reluctant to leave. However, her mood dimmed slightly as they walked away.
“What’s wrong? Weren’t you just really happy?” Lu Yunzhen asked gently.
“I was thinking about my brother… He used to love these performances,” Luo Qianyun admitted.
Thinking of Luo Qi, who was bedridden, Lu Yunzhen could only comfort her. “Luo Qi will get better.”
After leaving the lake area, Lu Yunzhen fulfilled his promise by taking Luo Qianyun to a night market for barbecue.
Sitting at a small table, the two enjoyed the food.
It had been a while since Luo Qianyun last ate barbecue, and she found it delicious.
When she was full, Lu Yunzhen cleaned up the remaining food, determined not to waste anything.
Once home, Luo Qianyun didn’t forget about the contract. She printed several different agreements, which Lu Yunzhen reviewed and signed one by one.
After signing the final agreement, he looked at her. “Feel reassured now?”
Seeing the signed contracts, Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but ask cautiously, “Are you not angry?”
“Why would I be angry?” Lu Yunzhen lightly patted her head. “If you feel insecure, that’s my fault.”
Luo Qianyun felt like she was drowning in his gaze.
Blushing furiously, she quickly excused herself to take a shower and fled to her room.
After her shower, she checked her phone and saw messages from her best friend, Song Yunjing, reporting on her day.
Hearing that Lu Yunzhen hadn’t let anyone from the Luo family bully her, Song Yunjing was quite satisfied. “This man is worth considering. When needed, he really steps up.”
“But with how things are progressing, when will there be another step forward?” Song Yunjing teased.
“Isn’t that too fast? I’ve only known him for so long,” Luo Qianyun muttered.
“You’ve already touched and kissed. He only has so much leave. If you don’t take action now, you might regret not seizing the opportunity,” Song Yunjing quipped.
Taking a deep breath, Luo Qianyun replied, “I’m vegetarian.”
“Ha! That’s just because you haven’t tasted good meat yet,” Song Yunjing shot back.
“You talk as if you have!”
“At least I’ve aced the theory!”
“Please, we’re both novices. Don’t act all high and mighty,” Luo Qianyun retorted.
“At least I’ve got solid theoretical knowledge.”
“Well, I’ve actually practiced,” Luo Qianyun said smugly, glad her friend couldn’t see her blushing.
“Touche.”
Not long after hanging up, someone knocked on Luo Qianyun’s door.
She opened it to find Lu Yunzhen standing there—shirtless.
“You… what do you want?” she asked, her gaze flickering briefly to his well-toned chest. This man is way too tempting.
“I got injured during training today. Can you help me apply some medicine?” he said, turning to reveal a scrape on his back.
Though the injury wasn’t serious, Luo Qianyun could sense his intentional play.
Still, she let him in, grabbed the first aid kit, and started gathering supplies.
“Do you… want to change your clothes first?” Lu Yunzhen asked hesitantly, his ears turning slightly red.
“What? I can’t dress like this to treat your wounds? Should I be wearing a nurse outfit or something?”
He didn’t answer, but his ears reddened further.
Confused, Luo Qianyun looked down and finally realized…
Having just showered and chatted with her friend, she wasn’t wearing… a bra.
And her earlier movements had unintentionally given him an eyeful.
