Era of Arranged Marriages: Dumping the Infertile Scumbag and Having Triplets in the First Pregnancy Chapter 69

Chapter 69

Lu Baiwei realized that He Ting was teasing her.

This man was becoming more and more shameless.

Lu Baiwei pinched his waist: “Are you trying to die? Aunt Hongmei’s husband might hear you.”

“I *am* going to die!”

He Ting joked, “A married man who can’t sleep next to his wife will surely die.”

“WeiWei, every day I look at you, I get energized all over.”

Lu Baiwei: “…”

Was this really something He Ting would say?

Lu Baiwei couldn’t imagine that this was the same He Ting who used to be cold and unattainable.

She pinched his waist hard again. “Say that one more time.”

He Ting chuckled lowly. “If my wife orders it, how could I dare disobey?”

“Then I’m saying it!”

“The bed is ready now, so once the house is finished, we’ll let Xiao Qi and Ranran share a room, and we’ll have one to ourselves.”

“You’re so good to Xiao Qi and Ranran—it’s clear you really like kids.”

“WeiWei, let’s have two little ones of our own…”

Even if the house wasn’t finished yet, it didn’t matter—as long as the new bed was ready.

Since the little ones had come to the Xiangyang Brigade, poor Uncle He Ting had been suffering.

He had only tasted intimacy once, and now he was hooked.

With an extra bed at home, he thought they could sneak to the main room at night, avoiding the two little ones.

He Ting had it all planned out, but he didn’t expect Tang Yunling to cling to Lu Baiwei.

The way she beat Zhao Yongsen showed how much she cared—feelings nurtured since childhood weren’t easily discarded.

Zhao Yongsen’s betrayal left Tang Yunling heartbroken once she calmed down.

When Zhou Yanfeng took her back to the health station, Tang Yunling clung to Lu Baiwei and cried, “WeiWei, I’m so upset. I want to stay at the brigade health station and sleep with you tonight.”

He Ting: “…”

There was an extra bed at home, and he’d been counting on sneaking away from the two annoying kids to sleep with WeiWei in the main room. Now, there was Tang Yunling to contend with.

There was an extra bed at home, and He Ting had been looking forward to sneaking away from the two pesky little ones to spend the night in the main room with WeiWei. But now, Tang Yunling had appeared out of nowhere.

Why was it so hard for this newlywed couple to have some alone time?

This couldn’t go on.

He couldn’t let other people keep occupying his WeiWei.

Noticing Zhou Yanfeng’s concerned gaze toward Tang Yunling, He Ting put a hand on Zhou Yanfeng’s shoulder.

“Come with me to the bamboo grove by the foundation. I’ve got something to say to you.”

Zhou Yanfeng wanted to comfort Tang Yunling, but he was afraid she’d only half listen, then lash out at him with kicks and punches.

When this woman got angry, her kicks really hurt.

Hearing He Ting call him aside, Zhou Yanfeng pulled his gaze away from Tang Yunling and followed him out.

“He Ting, what do you want to say?”

“If you like her, go for it!”

He Ting threw the suggestion at him directly.

Zhou Yanfeng felt a little embarrassed.

“How did you figure that out, He Ting?”

“It’s not like that,” Zhou Yanfeng tried to explain. “I just feel bad for Tang Yunling and wanted to comfort her.”

Still trying to convince himself, Zhou Yanfeng wasn’t ready to admit that he’d fallen for Tang Yunling so quickly.

He Ting was speechless.

“Come on, it’s as obvious as the sun! You’re always around her, showering her with attention. Do you think her brothers are blind?”

“You two are always fooling around together. Even Third Aunt quietly asked me if you have feelings for Tang Yunling.”

“What? It’s that obvious?”

Zhou Yanfeng suddenly felt awkward and asked nervously, “What did Third Aunt mean by that?”

“She said Tang Yunling was promised to someone too early. She thinks the engagement should be called off and replaced with you. She said someone like you is the ideal son-in-law for the Tang family.”

Although he found Tang Yunling unique, Zhou Yanfeng had been hesitant to approach her.

But hearing He Ting say that Tang Jinghe’s wife thought he was the perfect match gave Zhou Yanfeng a sudden burst of confidence.

“He Ting, are you sure about this?”

“He Ting, are you serious about this?”

Of course, there was no Third Aunt saying she liked Zhou Yanfeng as a son-in-law.

The Tang family wasn’t the type to change their minds so easily.

Since Tang Yunling was already promised to someone, they wouldn’t suddenly consider Zhou Yanfeng.

But for the sake of his own time with his wife, He Ting kept a straight face and nodded earnestly without the slightest hesitation.

Zhou Yanfeng immediately perked up, as if injected with adrenaline. “Alright, if I don’t step up, this difficult woman might really never get married.”

“Well then, I’ll reluctantly step in and spare other comrades from the suffering.”

“Good! Sounds like a plan.”

He Ting gave him a hearty pat on the shoulder. “Go embrace that suffering sooner rather than later.”

“Don’t worry, He Ting! I’ll take action first thing tomorrow morning.”

Tomorrow morning?

Fine.

He Ting decided to endure just one more night.

Unfortunately, he had overestimated Zhou Yanfeng’s approach. The man’s thinking wasn’t exactly conventional; instead, he opted for a “surround the city from the countryside” strategy.

To pursue Tang Yunling, he decided to win over the Tang family first.

While He Ting was waiting for Zhou Yanfeng to make a move on Tang Yunling, the guy went to the county town the next day with money and ration coupons in hand.

He bought cigarettes and alcohol for the Tang family men, snow cream for Third Aunt and the two sisters-in-law, and candy snacks for the Tang kids.

He even opened a package sent from the capital, setting aside half its contents for the Tang family.

The Tang family felt uncomfortable accepting so much from him.

As a result, Zhou Yanfeng’s first attempt ended in failure. Carrying a bag of gifts, he showed up at the brigade health station.

“The brigade leader said I was trying to make him break his principles.”

“Third Aunt also told me not to bring so much, saying I’ve come a long way to the Xiangyang Brigade as an educated youth and that I’m brothers with you and Yuanliang. She told me if I wanted anything to eat, I could just ask her.”

“But she warned me not to waste money and bring piles of stuff uninvited.”

Zhou Yanfeng wore a defeated expression. “He Ting, when you married my sister-in-law, you went straight to the county and brought back the ‘Three Revolutions and a Sound’ to propose to the Lu family.”

Looking toward the house, where Tang Yunling was playing with little Qi.

“I’d love to bring the ‘Three Revolutions and a Sound’ to propose, but wouldn’t that scare the Tang family?”

The whole Zhao Yongsen mess had only just blown over.

Zhou Yanfeng figured he couldn’t just show up at the Tang family’s doorstep and declare he had his eye on their daughter.

Yesterday, when he gave Tang Yunling a ride back to the brigade, the usually feisty woman had been completely silent.

No matter how he tried to make conversation or cheer her up, she just couldn’t muster any enthusiasm.

Was Zhao Yongsen really that great?

So great she couldn’t forget him?

Zhou Yanfeng felt a twinge of discomfort in his heart.

After being encouraged by He Ting to pursue Tang Yunling, he thought she needed time to recover, and he’d take that time to edge out Zhao Yongsen’s place in her heart.

Before that, though, he wanted to establish good relations with the Tang family.

If he could win their support for him and Tang Yunling, it would make things smoother.

But despite his obvious efforts, the brigade leader’s wife misunderstood him, thinking he was just like before—always bringing goodies for the Tang family. She told him not to be so polite and practically chased him out with all his gifts.

Frustrated, Zhou Yanfeng sought He Ting’s advice. “He Ting, I really need you to help me come up with a plan for this.”

He Ting: “…”

This was what he called taking action?

Even He Yunqi, the little rascal, was better at this than him.

Sure enough, when He Ting brought Zhou Yanfeng into the main room, they heard little Qi’s sweet voice coming from inside.

“Auntie, the braids you did for my little sister look so pretty!”

“Auntie, you’re amazing!”

Little He had no shame, showering compliments without hesitation or embarrassment.

“Auntie, you can do everything! You can braid hair, catch snakes, and cook delicious food.”

“If only I were a grown man—I’d marry Auntie right away!”
