Chapter 72: She’s the One with a Love Brain, This One Has a Best Friend Brain
“I never thought there would actually be an insider in the armed police force.” If it weren’t for the evidence right in front of her, Luo Qianyun would have never imagined it.
Hearing the sigh in her words, Lu Yunzheng gently hugged her. “Human nature is complicated. You can’t imagine what he’s facing.”
“Are you talking about the insider?” Luo Qianyun asked.
Lu Yunzheng nodded slightly. “What he’s dealing with could be irresistible temptation or an unresistable threat. Anything is possible.”
Luo Qianyun asked, “So, do you know who it is?”
“I already know,” Lu Yunzheng replied.
In the next moment, Luo Qianyun pressed her hand against his lips. “You don’t need to say anymore. I don’t really want to know.”
“Okay.” His lips lightly touched her palm, bringing a slight tingling sensation. Luo Qianyun quickly withdrew her hand, still feeling the itch in her palm.
“How long do we have to stay here?” Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but ask.
“Until the net is closed. If we leave now, it will ruin the plan,” Lu Yunzheng said. Originally, he had planned to hide somewhere, but he never thought it would end up being the bathroom.
Luo Qianyun nodded. Meanwhile, Song Yunjing had already brought Xiao Zhou to the bar’s VIP room.
If Xiao Zhou left now, it could ruin the plan as well.
So, Luo Qianyun had her best friend hide him first.
As for Mo Li… Although Luo Qianyun didn’t trust him completely, since both her best friend and Lu Yunzheng trusted him a little, she figured she could give him a slight benefit of the doubt.
When a man in a suit was escorted into the VIP area of the bar, Song Yunjing asked quietly, “Mo Li, is this him?”
Mo Li placed a sticky rice cake in front of Song Yun Jing. “Stop looking over there. Anyone with a brain can guess what you’re waiting for. Eat more and talk less.”
“So, is it him?” Song Yunjing asked as she popped a rice cake into her mouth.
“Every time someone walks in, you ask me. Hundreds of people enter the VIP area at this bar every day,” Mo Li said helplessly.
Song Yunjing chewed on the chewy rice cake. “I’m just worried about my Qianqian.”
“She doesn’t need you to worry about her. Why bother?” Mo Li said, sounding annoyed.
“I don’t like the way you’re talking, Mo Li. Don’t think you can talk however you like just because I like you. If you keep saying things like that, I won’t like you anymore,” Song Yunjing retorted.
“Well, your liking isn’t very valuable,” Mo Li shot back.
“Love is worthless in front of a best friend. Love may betray me, but a best friend won’t,” Song Yunjing said.
Hearing this, Mo Li looked at her with pity. “Haven’t you seen those unlucky people betrayed by their best friends?”
“That’s because their best friends had problems, not mine,” Song Yunjing replied.
“…” Mo Li finally understood. She was the type with a love brain, but Song Yunjing was the one with a best friend brain.
Meanwhile, in the private room at the end of the hallway, the man in the suit entered with two bodyguards. Brother Biao smiled and greeted, “Mr. Luo, long time no see.”
Mr. Luo only gave a slight nod. “No need for pleasantries. I’m here for business today. Let’s get to the point.”
“Alright, I like working with straightforward people like Mr. Luo,” Brother Biao said with a smile.
At that moment, one of Mr. Luo’s bodyguards pointed at the man behind Brother Biao, Weizi . “Hand over your phone.”
Weizi froze for a moment, and Brother Biao looked at him before turning to Mr. Luo. “What’s going on here?”
Mr. Luo said nothing but gestured toward his bodyguard.
“He just sent a message from his phone. For safety, it’s better to check,” the bodyguard explained, walking toward Weizi .
Weizi looked anxiously at Brother Biao. “Brother Biao…”
Brother Biao thought for a moment, then reached out toward Weizi . “Give me your phone. What are you worried about if nothing’s wrong?”
Seeing Weizi hesitate, one of Brother Biao’s men snatched the phone from his hand and respectfully handed it to Brother Biao.
After unlocking Weizi ’s phone, Brother Biao frowned at the WeChat conversation on the screen.
[Brother Wei, do you want to come over tonight for an overnight stay?] [Coming.]
The message was sent an hour ago, and the profile picture was of a girl, so it didn’t seem suspicious at first glance.
No one paid much attention to this minor incident, and they proceeded with the deal.
Mr. Luo’s bodyguard placed a black box on the coffee table. When opened, it revealed the goods inside.
Seeing the large quantity, Brother Biao’s eyes widened. “Let’s check it.”
He had someone who specialized in checking goods, and they swiftly began inspecting.
Brother Biao opened his own box, revealing stacks of hundred-dollar bills. He then pushed the box toward Mr. Luo.
Just as the goods were being checked and the money counted, Bai Minghui and his special forces team rushed toward the bar’s emergency exit.
After entering the VIP area, they quickly took control of the situation. Some attempted to fight back with guns, but as soon as they unlocked their safeties, their wrists were shot through.
In the private room, Brother Biao had just received the goods inspection results and was still enjoying the satisfaction when the door was suddenly kicked open. A group of armed special forces soldiers stormed in.
In the bathroom, Lu Yunzheng heard gunshots outside and realized Bai Minghui had arrived with his team.
Five minutes later, when Lu Yunzheng and Luo Qianyun emerged, Bai Minghui and his team had already secured the area.
All the involved parties were taken away one by one. Lu Yunzheng was speaking to Bai Minghui, and Luo Qianyun stood leaning against the wall for a moment. Soon, Song Yunjing arrived.
She quickly jogged over to Luo Qianyun, scanning her from head to toe. “You’re alright, thank goodness.”
“It’s not like I’m missing a limb,” Luo Qianyun said helplessly.
“I was just worried about you. Why would you stay in such a dangerous place with him instead of coming with me?” Song Yunjing huffed as she turned her head away.
Luo Qianyun quickly apologized, “Sorry, at that moment, Xiao Zhou was in more danger.”
Song Yunjing wasn’t too hard to appease. After Luo Qianyun’s soft reassurance, she stopped being upset.
But looking at her best friend, Song Yunjing felt something was off. “What’s wrong with your leg? Does it hurt?”
“It’s just a little weak,” Luo Qianyun said, tapping her thigh.
“Your leg’s weak? What did you two do in the bathroom?” Song Yunjing feigned anger.
But she didn’t notice that everyone around them had good hearing.
Her words made the entire area fall silent, and all the busy people now had curious, gossiping eyes on their captain.
