Chapter 0090: Where Did You Hit Him? Is He Hurt?

When Luo Qianyun arrived to pick up Luo Qi after work, Lu Hongyu greeted her with a smile, “Qianyun, I’ve brought this brat here to apologize to you.”

“No need to apologize. Just stay out of my sight in the future,” Luo Qianyun replied coldly, then turned to Luo Qi. “Let’s go, bro.”

Upon hearing this, Luo Qi immediately ran to her side. “Sis, I know a super delicious place! The food looks amazing and it’s really fresh.”

“Alright, let’s go try it.” Luo Qianyun smiled.

As the two started walking away, Lu Hongyu quickly followed behind with Lu Yan. “No matter what, yesterday’s incident was Lu Yan’s fault. Qianyun, we’re family now, so could you give me some face?”

“I give you face, but he clearly doesn’t give me any. He even tried to put a green hat on my husband,” Luo Qianyun mocked with a cold sneer.

“He was foolish! I gave him a good beating last night to help vent your anger,” Lu Hongyu quickly explained.

He understood why Lu Yan had acted out—taking advantage of Lu Yunzhen’s brief absence to try and meddle. But of course, he couldn’t admit this.

“Where did you hit him? Is he hurt?” Luo Qianyun asked with mock concern.

“…” Lu Hongyu was left speechless.

“Luo Qianyun, don’t go too far!” Lu Yan snapped angrily.

“Am I the one going too far, or are you? This is your attitude while apologizing? One might think you’re my second uncle!” Luo Qianyun shot back.

Lu Yan was seething but realized something. Despite their three years of dating, Luo Qianyun never had much affection for him. The thought frustrated him more, making his face darken further.

“Enough! If you can’t speak properly, just shut up,” Lu Hongyu scolded coldly. As an illegitimate child, he’d climbed high relying on the main family, so he knew how to act prudently—unlike his clueless son.

His wife had passed away early, leaving Lu Yan poorly raised.

Considering her acquaintance with Lu Hongyu, Luo Qianyun relented and let him treat them to a meal, just to avoid further pestering.

However, she didn’t expect that the restaurant Luo Qi chose was a self-service hot pot spot, costing only 69 yuan per person.

Luo Qianyun didn’t mind. She’d tried both expensive and cheap foods and sometimes found gems even at roadside stalls.

But when Lu Hongyu and Lu Yan entered the restaurant, their brows furrowed.

Their high-end tailored suits made them stick out awkwardly among the crowd—not because of their presence, but because they couldn’t blend into the relaxed atmosphere.

In contrast, despite wearing expensive clothes, Luo Qianyun and Luo Qi seemed at ease.

After picking some dishes she liked, Luo Qianyun returned to her seat. Despite the low price, the food looked fresh and appetizing.

“Bro, how did you find this place?” Luo Qianyun asked curiously.

Luo Qi eagerly tossed his favorite ingredients into the hot pot. “A good friend I met at the hospital told me about it. She said it’s super tasty!”

“When did you make such a good friend?” Luo Qianyun asked, surprised.

“Near the end of my hospital stay. She’s small but super brave, didn’t even flinch during blood draws,” Luo Qi replied, munching on a dessert.

“A little kid?”

Luo Qi thought for a moment. “I think she’s seven.”

Luo Qianyun nodded, unsurprised.

The siblings chatted happily while eating, leaving Lu Hongyu and Lu Yan to sit awkwardly. Neither of them touched much food.

“Qianyun, how about I take you to a better place? This restaurant doesn’t seem very clean. I know a new one that would suit your taste,” Lu Hongyu suggested.

“No need, this is fine,” Luo Qianyun said casually, continuing her meal and conversation with Luo Qi.

Even though she didn’t care whether they ate, their looming presence was an eyesore.

Eventually, she couldn’t hold back. “Uncle Lu, I don’t mind you treating me to a meal, but just pay the bill and leave. As for the apology, he can say it anytime. I’m ready.”

“It’s better to eat somewhere else. If you get sick, it won’t be worth it,” Lu Hongyu insisted.

Just then, the restaurant owner, who had been holding back for a while, couldn’t stand it anymore. She marched up to him, hands on hips, and said, “I’ve had enough of you. Don’t like my restaurant? Then don’t come in! Our little place can’t serve someone as grand as you.”

Before Lu Hongyu could respond, the owner continued her rapid-fire rant. “The girl already said she’s staying here, so why all the fuss? If young folks can eat here, why can’t you? The older you get, the pickier you become!”

Embarrassed but unwilling to stoop to arguing with a hot pot shop owner, Lu Hongyu left with a dark expression.

Lu Yan, however, wasn’t as restrained and started bickering with her.

Amused, Luo Qianyun called a waiter to help her and Luo Qi switch seats. As Lu Yan argued loudly, the siblings enjoyed their meal from a new spot, occasionally glancing over at his futile efforts.

It was unexpectedly entertaining.

Not wanting the owner’s small business to suffer because of them, Luo Qianyun later sent Lu Hongyu a message.

Her text was simple: I like this place. I’ll come back another time.

Understanding the implicit warning, Lu Hongyu dropped the matter.

The episode with Lu Yan ended quietly, and Luo Qianyun didn’t spare him another thought.

Instead, she focused on preparing for an upcoming conference. Ten days later, she boarded a plane to Shangjing with her professor.

Their arrival at Shangjing Airport wasn’t a secret, so they were greeted by Lu Yunzheng’s siblings, Lu Huai and Lu Ya.

“Auntie!” Lu Ya exclaimed happily, running up to her.

Lu Huai smiled and invited Professor Chen Mingsheng to visit their home.

Hearing that they were Lu Yunzheng’s family, Professor Chen, curious about their background, accepted the invitation.
