Chapter 96: “So Cute, Can I Take a Bite?’
“This better not be a fluke,” Song Yunjing couldn’t help but say.
“Does that even need to be said?” Luo Qianyun sighed helplessly. “If it’s not a fluke, then of course you cut it off immediately. If he’s still entangled with you despite having a fiancée, he’s just being irresponsible toward you.”
Song Yunjing sighed deeply, “If Lu Yunzheng had a fiancée, I don’t believe you’d cut him off so decisively.”
“Short pain is better than prolonged suffering. Instead of draining yourself, why not drive someone else mad instead?” Luo Qianyun said earnestly.
“Where did you even pick up such absurd logic?” Song Yunjing’s mouth twitched slightly.
Luo Qianyun: “It’s a universal truth.”
“Qianbao~ I just realized something~” Song Yunjing suddenly smiled mischievously.
“That tone of yours doesn’t sound like it’s good news,” Luo Qianyun said with suspicion written all over her little face.
“Of course, it’s good news,” Song Yunjing said with a wicked grin. “I realized you seem to have… developed. A lot.”
“Huh?” Luo Qianyun tilted her head, not quite understanding for a moment.
It wasn’t until Song Yunjing motioned with her gaze that Luo Qianyun looked down. She noticed that without a bra and with her leaning forward, the view seemed rather… full.
In an instant, Luo Qianyun’s face turned bright red. “You pervert!”
“Don’t put it that way. It’s not like I don’t have what you have,” Song Yunjing said matter-of-factly. “Such tempting little buns—Lu Yunzheng probably wouldn’t be able to resist taking a bite either.”
“Song Yunjing, say one more word, and I’m ignoring you!” Luo Qianyun fumed with embarrassment.
Seeing her blushing and flustered, Song Yunjing teased, “Your face is red! How are you still so shy? Okay, okay, I’ll stop teasing you.”
“Not talking to you anymore,” Luo Qianyun said, hanging up the video call in a huff.
But as soon as she turned around, she noticed Lu Yunzheng standing at the door. “W-When did you get back?”
“Probably around the time you mentioned ‘developing’,” Lu Yunzheng replied casually.
Great. Luo Qianyun felt like her face was on fire.
“Aren’t you taking me on a tour? I’ll go change,” she said, preparing to flee.
But just as she passed by Lu Yunzheng, he grabbed her arm. “Why the rush? I’m not done talking.”
“What do you want to say?” Luo Qianyun murmured softly.
Lu Yunzheng: “You’re indeed cute. Can I take a bite?”
Shame turned into anger in an instant. “If anything, I should be the one biting you!” she snapped.
“Didn’t you already bite me last time?” Lu Yunzheng smirked.
“Say one more thing, and I’m done with you!” Luo Qianyun huffed.
Not daring to push further, Lu Yunzheng pulled her into his arms to calm her down. “Alright, alright. Don’t be mad.”
“I’m furious!” Luo Qianyun snorted softly and pushed him away to go change clothes.
Once she was ready, Lu Yunzheng took her to tour some family-friendly areas of the base. The exhibits not only showcased the culture and history of the unit but also offered insight into the working environment of soldiers.
They later had dinner at the cafeteria. Compared to lunch, the place was much busier in the evening.
As soon as they entered, Bai Minghui’s loud voice rang out, “Captain! Sister-in-law! Over here!”
His booming call attracted everyone’s attention.
Luo Qianyun didn’t mind joining their table. After all, she was familiar with Bai Minghui, Qian Hu, and Old Chen.
Naturally, their curiosity about Luo Qianyun hadn’t waned. The moment Lu Yunzheng left to grab food, she found herself bombarded with questions.
Amid the chatter, someone brought up her and Lu Yunzheng’s marriage. Luo Qianyun mentioned the time she saw him fail at a blind date…
“Wait, Captain went on a blind date that day?” Bai Minghui was stunned. “Wasn’t he just accompanying Old Chen?”
Everyone turned to Old Chen, who looked confused. “Why are you all staring at me? You already know I failed that blind date.”
“Wait… wasn’t it Captain’s blind date that day?” Luo Qianyun was equally baffled.
She distinctly remembered mustering the courage to propose marriage because she thought he’d been pressured into blind dating—and had just failed.
“Actually, Captain was just accompanying me…” Old Chen muttered softly.
“Then why didn’t he clarify when I misunderstood that he’d been rejected?” Luo Qianyun said, exasperated.
“Because, sister-in-law,” Qian Hu interjected, “the key isn’t who was blind dating. The key is, Captain likes you. That trip to City A? It was all for you.”
“Yeah, I can vouch for that,” Bai Minghui added with a raised hand.
Just then, Lu Yunzheng returned with the food. Everyone went quiet, unsure if their chatter had caused any trouble.
Seeing them suddenly silent, Lu Yunzheng found it odd but didn’t dwell on it.
With something on her mind, Luo Qianyun ate noticeably less than at lunch.
Several times, she wanted to speak up but hesitated…
After dinner, while walking together, Lu Yunzheng broke the silence. “You’ve got something to ask me?”
“That time… were you really just accompanying Old Chen to a blind date?” Luo Qianyun couldn’t hold back any longer.
Lu Yunzheng didn’t deny it. “So you’ve found out?”
When she realized it was true, Luo Qianyun felt both amused and annoyed. “I misunderstood that you’d been rejected. Why didn’t you explain?”
“I was about to, but then I overheard your marriage proposal. I thought the misunderstanding worked in my favor,” Lu Yunzheng chuckled.
Luo Qianyun couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity. “At the time, I wondered how someone with your qualities could be rejected.”
“You think I have good qualities?” Lu Yunzheng asked.
“Of course. You’d be highly sought after,” Luo Qianyun replied.
“As long as you don’t feel shortchanged,” he said. “Whether or not there was a misunderstanding doesn’t matter. My goal was always you.”
The gentle evening breeze carried a hint of coolness.
Luo Qianyun turned slightly to look at Lu Yunzheng. His profile, illuminated by the setting sun, appeared even more resolute and dependable.
His rough yet reassuring hand clasped hers.
Noticing her gaze, Lu Yunzheng smiled faintly. “Why aren’t you saying anything? Did I scare you?”
“Of course not! I’m not that easily scared,” Luo Qianyun retorted.
“Good. There’s a store up ahead—let’s get you some snacks,” Lu Yunzheng said softly.
At the store, Lu Yunzheng let her pick out whatever snacks she liked. But as they were checking out, her eyes landed on a certain boxed item.
“Um… should we get this too?” she asked, blushing.
Lu Yunzheng glanced at it and firmly refused, “No need.”
Hearing that, Luo Qianyun felt a twinge of disappointment. She knew some men didn’t like using such things, but she wasn’t ready for pregnancy yet…
Noticing her slight change in mood, Lu Yunzheng hesitated for a moment before whispering near her ear, “Already bought. Enough for now.”
