Chapter 120 : Brothers Settle Accounts Clearly
Yu Feixu stood there in a daze. When Shen Zheng walked ahead, he tugged at Shen Haifeng’s sleeve and asked, “Is your father really so easy to talk to?”
Shen Haifeng looked very proud, “I told you, my father is very reasonable.”
Yu Feixu replied, “My dear, I thought you were going to secretly ask your mom to get it. After all, your aunt seems to be the more reasonable one.”
Shen Haifeng: “Of course, my mom is the most reasonable one.”
When Shen Zheng and Shen Haifeng entered the house, Fang Xiaoluo and Shen Haiping had already returned.
Fang Xiaoluo had also brought back a large cabbage from Honghe Village. They had a light dinner with steamed corn bread and cabbage stewed with tofu.
“You two met today,” Fang Xiaoluo greeted. “Then wash your hands and eat.”
Everyone sat down together, and Fang Xiaoluo solemnly introduced, “Let me tell you, this pot of cabbage is worth eight yuan right now. When the restaurant serves new dishes, I don’t know how much it’ll cost.”
Zheng Lanhua was stunned. “What? This is golden cabbage?”
Fang Xiaoluo put a chopstick full of cabbage into Zheng Lanhua’s bowl and said, “Don’t worry about whether it’s gold or silver. Just try it first to see if it tastes good.”
Zheng Lanhua found it hard to lift her chopsticks, feeling like she was eating money.
But the food was already cooked, so she couldn’t just let it go to waste.
She took a bite. Wow! It was sweet, fresh, fragrant, and crispy, with a full mouthful of flavor.
“Why…why does this cabbage taste so good?”
Shen Zheng and the others also tried some food.
As the saying goes, eating in silence.
Fang Xiaoluo said, “Just like how I watered the vegetables in our yard, I asked my mother to water their cabbage fields.”
Shen Haifeng ate half a bowl before saying, “This is so delicious, I wouldn’t even trade it for meat.”
Zheng Lanhua took two more bites and said, “I’m so lucky to still have such a good appetite at my age. These dishes are even better than the last ones. I really don’t know how you made them.”
Fang Xiaoluo said, “I’m awesome.”
After dinner, Shen Zheng went to clean up the kitchen. Fang Xiaoluo came over and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.
Shen Zheng asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
“Are you going to get up early for exercise tomorrow?” Fang Xiaoluo said, leaning her head on his shoulder. It felt so solid.
Shen Zheng only felt that the breath between his nostrils was filled with Fang Xiaoluo’s scent, stirring his heart.
“If there’s something important to do, I can just say I don’t want to go.”
Fang Xiaoluo said, “We’re going to Honghe Village during the day. Tang Jingxian and I signed a one-year contract. If you have time tomorrow, get up early and help me deliver ten kilograms of cucumbers to my eldest brother in Honghe Village. I’ll tell my parents to have him deliver the cabbage to Dongfeng Hotel tomorrow as agreed.”
Shen Zheng turned around and asked, “You signed the contract?”
Fang Xiaoluo nodded, “What do you think? Am I good?”
“Awesome, my wife is the best.” Shen Zheng said, “I’ll get up early tomorrow and deliver the cucumbers. No problem. My wife’s matter is a big deal.”
Fang Xiaoluo said, “You didn’t ask me how much the cabbage sold for per pound? You didn’t ask if Tang Jingxian gave me the money in advance? You didn’t ask how much I was going to give to my parents?”
Shen Zheng wiped his hands clean, then pulled Fang Xiaoluo close, “Just make the decisions, I don’t need to ask.”
Fang Xiaoluo reached out and tapped Shen Zheng’s chest, “Okay, you emptied your family’s fortune to marry me, and you don’t ask about how much money I make. I’ll abscond with the money, and you won’t even have a place to cry!”
Shen Zheng smiled and said, “You won’t.”
It feels good to be trusted by others, and Fang Xiaoluo felt warm inside.
But things still need to be made clear.
“As the saying goes, even brothers have to settle accounts clearly. My parents provide the land and the labor, and I provide the formula and find buyers. We need to discuss how to divide the profits. I certainly won’t take away their money, and they won’t want to treat me unfairly. But since we’re doing business, it’s better to have everything written down in black and white,” Fang Xiaoluo said.
Shen Zheng actually hadn’t thought about this problem. His idea was that Fang Xiaoluo had the final say in everything.
Fang Xiaoluo continued, “In other words, my eldest brother and Fang Jie are both going to start families in the future, so it will be convenient for me to explain everything to them later. Do you think I am cold and indifferent for dividing the things of my family members so clearly?”
Shen Zheng shook his head. “No, you’re right to think this way.” After all, many things should be settled at the beginning to avoid trouble later.
“Then how do you want to divide it?” he asked again.
Fang Xiaoluo said, “I’m marrying you, and we’re living together, so no matter how this is divided, it certainly can’t go beyond you.”
Shen Zheng naturally had no objection. “I’ll do as you say.”
Fang Xiaoluo stood on tiptoe and kissed Shen Zheng on the lips. “You are so nice.”
Shen Zheng left with his heart pounding. He certainly wasn’t going to let go of the person who teased him that night.
Early the next morning, Shen Zheng went out refreshed. He borrowed a motorcycle to deliver the cucumbers and soon arrived at Honghe Village.
Fang Qiang had already prepared 100 kilograms of cabbage and was waiting for Fang Xiaoluo to bring the cucumbers.
The motorcycle stopped at the door. Shen Zheng strode into the yard, and when he saw Fang Qiang, he shouted, “Brother, Xiaoluo asked me to bring some cucumbers over.”
Fang Qiang said, “Okay, I’ll take you to Jiangcheng in a bit. Have you eaten yet? Come in and have a bite.”
When Zhang Xinyan and the others heard that it was Shen Zheng, they all came out.
Shen Zheng looked around and asked, “Brother, how are you going to deliver the food to Jiangcheng?”
Fang Qiang said, “I’ll go borrow a bicycle later.”
Shen Zheng replied, “I rode a motorcycle here today. This place is close to Jiangcheng. I’ll take you there.”
Fang Qiang asked, “No, you’re too busy. I can go by myself. Oh, by the way, when you go back, tell Xiaoluo that I’m going to quit my current job and come home to work with her. My parents and I have discussed it, and I’ll listen to Xiaoluo on everything. She has the final say.”
Shen Zheng tied the cabbage onto the motorcycle. “Xiaoluo told me this morning that it’s inconvenient to deliver goods without a car. I’ll pick a motorcycle for you when I have some free time this weekend.”
Fang Qiang did not refuse. Last night, everyone in his family sat down and talked. If Xiaoluo came home, it would definitely be a good idea to follow her.
Xiaoluo offered to buy him a motorcycle, but he wouldn’t take it for himself. He would use it exclusively for delivering goods and running errands. In the end, it still belonged to Fang Xiaoluo.
It was much faster for Shen Zheng to deliver the goods on a motorcycle with Fang Qiang.
After delivering the goods, the two men had a bite to eat in the city. Then, Fang Qiang went to work and asked his boss to quit his job.
Shen Zheng rode the motorcycle from Jiangcheng to Qingshi Town. It was already past eight o’clock when he arrived, so he went directly to Shen Haifeng’s school.
Shen Zheng asked about the location of the office and found that there were few teachers in the office when he arrived at the door. They must have all gone to class.
He knocked on the door and asked, “Excuse me, is Teacher Ding Xiuying here?”
Zhou Yueshan, who was sitting opposite Ding Xiuying, looked up and said, “Teacher Ding has gone to class. Who are you?”
Shen Zheng walked in. “I am Shen Haifeng’s father.”
