Chapter 150 : I Want to Marry Xiaxia!
Shen Haiping carefully took out a piece of colored paper from his backpack. When he unfolded it, the paper revealed a painting with colorful flowers and pebbles glued onto it. It was a beautiful and intricately made artwork.
“Did Haiping make this himself?” Fang Xiaoluo asked.
Shen Haiping nodded. “Yes, I thought a picture like this would make people feel good, and I hope my mom will be in a good mood every day.”
Fang Xiaoluo rubbed his head and said, “Thank you, I really like it.”
Shen Haiping smiled, his little face turning red.
Shen Haifeng took out a lot of things from his bag. Fang Xiaoluo looked and saw that it was a doll that could stand up. This doll looked very much like her. Its long hair was tied with thread, and there was red fabric with buttons sewn on. The face was drawn with a pen, with big eyes and a smiling mouth.
Fang Xiaoluo asked, “How does it stand like this?”
Shen Haifeng replied, “There’s a cardboard box inside.”
“Very beautiful. I can tell it’s me at first glance,” Fang Xiaoluo smiled. “I really like it.”
Shen Haifeng was very happy that Fang Xiaoluo liked it. He had many needle pricks on his fingers from sewing it, but it was all worth it.
Next, Shen Haifeng took out a greeting card he had made himself. The card was folded in half, and inside were paper cranes he had folded, flowers cut from colored paper, and a heartfelt message for Fang Xiaoluo.
He had originally thought he could buy a gift with money, but not knowing what would be practical, he decided that making something by hand would show more sincerity.
“Is this also a gift for me?” Fang Xiaoluo asked.
Shen Haifeng nodded.
Fang Xiaoluo opened the card and read the words, which were full of love from an eight-year-old child.
A paragraph was written inside, some words replaced with pinyin:
“Mom, thank you for appearing in our lives. Your arrival has given me and my brothers and sisters new hope. You have made us more cheerful, optimistic, and confident. You have taught me a lot and given me the chance to study hard. Thank you for waking up early and working late every day for me and my brothers and sisters, and never complaining about being tired. You are our dearest mother, and we will be filial to you all our lives. We love you, our wonderful mother.”
Looking at these words, Fang Xiaoluo’s eyes grew teary.
She folded the card, smiled, and patted Shen Haifeng on the shoulder. “I can feel your love.”
Zhang Xinyan and Fang Shijun exchanged glances. The children truly loved Fang Xiaoluo, and how could they not be happy too?
All they wanted was for their daughter to have a good life.
The dishes were served, twelve in total, including fish, chicken, ribs, pork elbows, and many other delicious dishes. It was a very sumptuous meal.
Shen Zheng also ordered soda, and everyone opened a bottle.
Fang Xiaoluo raised a bottle of soda and stood up. “Thank you all for coming to celebrate my birthday today and for preparing these lovely gifts. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve celebrated my birthday, and it’s also the first time I’ve received so many blessings from so many people. With everyone’s blessings, I will be even happier in the future. Cheers.”
The twelve bottles of soda clinked together, making a crisp sound. Everyone smiled joyfully, and the meal was filled with happiness and the sweet taste of cake.
After returning home, Fang Xiaoluo carefully placed the gifts from Shen Haifeng and others, as well as the small comb from Fang Yamei, on the dressing table.
She also carefully put away the notebook from Fang Jie, the greeting card from Shen Haifeng, and the red socks from Fang Yating. This was the first birthday present she had ever received, and she wanted to treasure it.
Shen Zheng watched as Fang Xiaoluo put everything in place. He walked over and said, “You don’t have to hide your coat. You’ll still need to wear it when it gets cold in the fall.”
Fang Xiaoluo turned around, placing her arms on Shen Zheng’s shoulders. “Of course I’ll wear it. I’ll wear it for you to see.”
Shen Zheng smiled. “Okay.”
Fang Xiaoluo asked, “I don’t think I’ve seen this style of coat in Jiangcheng.”
Shen Zheng replied, “I had someone bring it from the south. Thankfully, I got it just in time.”
Fang Xiaoluo stretched out her hand and drew circles on Shen Zheng’s chest. “Tell me, is this all for me?”
Shen Zheng grabbed her restless hand and said, “Of course. If you don’t believe it, we can discuss it in more detail tonight.”
Fang Xiaoluo was not willing to be outdone. “Sure, let’s see who’s better.”
I thought there would be nothing to do in the evening, but Yu Xinzheng’s family went to a restaurant for dinner.
Fang Xiaoluo and her family went to the restaurant as well.
As soon as Fang Xiaoluo entered the room, Yu Feixu and Yu Xiaopang shouted, “Aunt, happy birthday!”
“Thank you.”
Everyone sat down, and Yu Xiaopang came over. “Aunt, I ordered the dishes today. They’re all delicious.”
“Okay, I’ll eat more later.”
After the dishes were served, Yu Xiaopang picked up some food for Shen Jinxia, including chicken legs, spare ribs, and fish belly…
All the best dishes went into Shen Jinxia’s bowl.
“Xiaxia, try this chicken leg, it’s really tasty.”
“And these spare ribs, they’re sweet and sour, very delicious.”
“The fish belly has the fewest bones, so it definitely won’t prick your throat.”
“Xiaxia, if you’re tired of eating too much meat, why not try some cold dishes?”
Han Weiping held her chopsticks and didn’t move. She wondered who her son took after.
Shen Zheng smiled and began picking up food for Fang Xiaoluo.
Han Weiping glared at Yu Xinzheng.
Yu Xinzheng didn’t respond.
Han Weiping stepped on Yu Xinzheng’s foot under the table. Yu Xinzheng felt pain and looked at her, not understanding what she meant.
Han Weiping signaled him with her eyes to look at her son and then at Shen Zheng.
It took Yu Xinzheng a long time to react. Han Weiping pinched his arm, causing him to grimace in pain, but he didn’t say anything.
After a long time, he slapped his forehead and finally picked up some food for Han Weiping.
Shen Jinxia looked at the mountain of food in her bowl and said, “But I can’t eat all this. It would be a waste if I can’t finish it.”
Yu Xiaopang tilted his head. “It’s okay, you eat first, and if you can’t finish it, give it to me. It won’t be wasted.”
Shen Haifeng cleared his throat and said, “I’m her older brother, I don’t mind. If Xiaxia can’t finish it, give it to me.”
Yu Xiaopang said, “But I don’t mind either.”
Shen Haiping looked up from his bowl and said, “Then you’re not my sister’s brother.”
Yu Xiaopang stood there in a daze. It turned out he and Xiaxia had nothing to do with each other!
Fang Xiaoluo and the other adults were so happy after hearing the children’s conversation that they couldn’t stop smiling.
Yu Xinzheng said, “This child is so stupid. He’ll definitely not take after me.”
Han Weiping glared at him. “Then why don’t you just follow my lead? Who’s the stupid one here?”
Yu Xinzheng quickly changed his words. “I’m stupid, that’s all.”
Shen Zheng said, “Sister, he lives with you, so he’s smarter. Otherwise, his brain wouldn’t be enough, and he’d have to be sent to raise pigs.”
Yu Xinzheng snorted. “If you don’t speak, no one will think you’re dumb. Today, you’re relying on my sister’s help otherwise, who would treat you to a meal?”
Shen Zheng said, “I can’t help it. I’m lucky. I have the chance to eat with you, Deputy Group Leader Yu.”
Yu Xiaopang hesitated for a long time and then said, “But I like Xiaxia. I want to marry Xiaxia when I grow up. I want Xiaxia and me to be a family.”
