Wife, please take responsibility.
Wife, please take responsibility. Chapter 2 – Encounter at the Bar

A surge of immense anger churned within her chest. Just as the two embraced each other tightly in their sweet moment, Wang Xiaoke emerged from the darkness like a vengeful specter from the depths of hell.

“Well, I’m terribly sorry for interrupting your romantic date,” she said, forcing a smile that was more painful than tears. Inside, it felt as though her heart was being torn apart, bleeding drop by drop.

“Xiaoke, why… why are you here?” Lu Ming was visibly stunned, instinctively loosening his grip on Feng Ning’s hand.

Wang Xiaoke stared directly into Lu Ming’s eyes and retorted, “Why shouldn’t it be me?”

“No, Xiaoke, listen to me. It’s not what it looks like,” Lu Ming stammered, his gaze flickering as if trying to explain.

But Wang Xiaoke had already burst into laughter. Her laughter grew louder, but her eyes soon brimmed with a misty haze, and large tears began to fall uncontrollably.

“Lu Ming, even now, you’re still trying to deceive me?” Wang Xiaoke wiped her tears away, grabbing Feng Ning’s arm as she accused, “Is the child in her stomach fake too? Lu Ming, don’t make me lose all respect for you.”

Lu Ming, guilty and at a loss for words, could only remain silent. Feng Ning, however, could no longer hold back. She stepped in front of Lu Ming, lifted her head high, and sneered with self-righteous confidence.

“That’s right, we’re together now. And yes, I’m pregnant with his child. So what?”

“Wang Xiaoke, take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Other than having a rich father, what else do you have?”

“In terms of looks and talent, what part of you is better than me? Why should I, who have worked so hard, have to endure humiliation and always yield to you? What makes you so proud and arrogant? Why do you think you deserve to compete with me for the father of my child?”

These people not only showed no remorse but had the audacity to hurl accusations and smear her instead.

In the end, Wang Xiaoke had somehow become the despicable villain, while they—the ones who set the trap—played the pitiful victims.

Wang Xiaoke smirked coldly. I truly underestimated how shameless they could be.

“Perhaps you’re right,” she said, her voice calm and biting. “Maybe I’m useless and not as talented as you. Maybe all I have is a little more luck. But that doesn’t give you the right to deceive and scheme against me. Especially when I treated you as a real family.”

“Stop pretending to be so pitiful. I don’t need your sympathy,” Feng Ning said as she shoved Wang Xiaoke. Caught off guard, Wang Xiaoke staggered backward a few steps, instinctively reaching out to grab something.

Then, Feng Ning collapsed into Lu Ming’s arms, clutching her stomach. Her face was full of terror, large tears falling as she cried out, “Lu Ming, the baby, our baby… my stomach hurts…”

“What happened?” Lu Ming asked anxiously, pulling her close into his arms with a concerned expression.

Feng Ning pointed at Wang Xiaoke, her face full of grievance. “She must be jealous that I’m having your child. She pushed me just now. If you weren’t here, I’m afraid something might have happened to our baby.” She shrank further into Lu Ming’s arms, looking both pitiful and helpless.

“You’re lying! You’re making false accusations! I didn’t do anything…” Wang Xiaoke shouted angrily, pointing at Feng Ning.

Before she could finish, Lu Ming’s face darkened. He stepped in front of Feng Ning, coldly interrupting her. “Xiaoke, the child is innocent. If you’re angry, direct it at me. Don’t make things difficult for Feng Ning. You should leave for now. I need to take her to the hospital to make sure everything’s alright. We’ll talk later.”

Wang Xiaoke was immediately left speechless, standing between the two of them like a fool, completely devoid of dignity, as they manipulated her and discarded her at will.

It was simply unforgivable!

“Lu Ming, you bastard!” Seeing the hypocritical Lu Ming, Wang Xiaoke finally couldn’t maintain her principle of not resorting to violence.

She couldn’t help herself and charged at him, throwing him in an over-the-shoulder throw. Lu Ming didn’t expect this move, and he was thrown to the ground, sprawled out and motionless, not knowing whether he was alive or dead.

Ignoring the fearful shouts of Feng Ning behind her, Wang Xiaoke turned and ran away from the pair of shameless people.

Wandering aimlessly on the street for a while, Wang Xiaoke found another bar. To forget about that bastard Lu Ming, she ordered a large batch of beer and began drinking it alone.

“Beautiful lady, the night is long, and yet you are here all alone, lost and despondent. Would you like to try something more exciting to comfort your wounded soul?”

A deep, elegant voice like a violin came from beside her. Wang Xiaoke lifted her blurry eyes to see a tall, handsome man smiling at her, gazing at her intently.

He seemed somewhat familiar, but Wang Xiaoke racked her brain and couldn’t remember where she had seen someone like him before.

The man was dressed in a well-tailored black suit, with almond-shaped eyes full of emotion. His long, fair fingers rested on his chin, and a lock of black hair fell over his forehead, giving him a somewhat rebellious look.

If it were any other time, Wang Xiaoke would have blushed at such a bold approach from a man with outstanding looks and charisma.

But the feeling of betrayal now stirred up a surge of anger within her, causing the shy side of her to completely vanish.

Flustered and distracted, Wang Xiaoke had no time to pay him much attention. She downed a glass of alcohol, glanced at him casually, and indifferently rejected his offer.

“I don’t need any special services, and I’m very poor.”

She stretched out her right foot, pointing to the slippers on her feet to show that she really had no money and wasn’t just making excuses.

“I can’t afford the fee, so you’d better find someone else.”

“Pfft…” The man chuckled softly, the sound as smooth as the lowest note of a violin, incredibly pleasant to hear. Wang Xiaoke, with her dazed apricot eyes, slightly tilted her head and looked at him drunkenly, confused. “What are you laughing at?”

“Nothing, you’re just adorable.” His rough hand gently touched her head. Wang Xiaoke wrinkled her small nose slightly and tilted her head to avoid it. His tenderness made her feel a little unsure.

She pretended to clear her throat a few times, gathering courage from the alcohol. She suddenly leaned closer to his ear, her crimson lips parted as if sharing a secret. She said, “But I’m still missing a husband. I wonder if you’re up for the job?”

Under the dim light, the man looked at her, trying to discern the meaning behind her words. His eyelashes were long and thick, fluttering like little fans as they brushed past her heart. Wang Xiaoke, with her confused thoughts, didn’t shy away from his probing gaze. Instead, she stared at him boldly, with her eyes gleaming, even bolder and more unrestrained than before, more captivating.

The man cupped her chin and narrowed his peach blossom eyes. “So, you’re serious? You’re choosing me? No regrets?”
