Chapter 180 : Big Brother Doesn’t Allow Me to Talk
Shen Haifeng walked over and asked, “Xiaxia, what are you doing?”
“Qi Yongchang’s balloon flew onto the tree, and he wanted to take it down,” Shen Jinxia looked up and said. “Brother, it’s so dangerous.”
Yu Xiaopang nodded, “That’s right, we didn’t let him go, but he insisted on trying. The balloon is stuck at the top of the tree.”
Shen Haifeng and Yu Feixu both looked up. It was indeed dangerous.
Although the big poplar tree looked strong and sturdy, its top was definitely not reliable. All the leaves had fallen off, and the branches were even weaker. Moreover, Qi Yongchang was about the same age as Yu Xiaopang, which made him too small for such a risky task.
Yu Xiaopang shouted again, “Qi Yongchang, come down quickly, it’s dangerous!”
Qi Yongchang panted, “I want my balloon.”
Yu Feixu threw his schoolbag to Yu Xiaopang and said, “Take this. I’ll go catch this kid.”
Shen Haifeng handed his schoolbag to Shen Haiping, “Haiping, go see if the kindergarten teacher has finished work. If not, find another adult to come over. Hurry up.”
Then he turned to Feixu and said, “Let me go. You’re not as good at climbing trees as I am.”
Shen Jinxia looked worried. “Brother, be careful.”
Shen Haifeng moved quickly and decisively, climbing the tree with ease.
Qi Yongchang didn’t care about the danger and was only focused on his red balloon, which hung on a high branch.
He grabbed a branch and tried to move forward, taking one small step, then another.
Shen Haifeng was almost at the top branch when the branch Qi Yongchang was holding suddenly broke, and the children below screamed in alarm.
Qi Yongchang slipped and was about to fall from the tree, screaming in fear.
Shen Haifeng reacted instantly and grabbed Qi Yongchang by the waistband.
Qi Yongchang kicked his legs and shut his eyes, shouting, “Aaaaah!”
Shen Haifeng was hanging on the tree trunk. His arm must have gotten scratched, and it was burning with pain, but he couldn’t let go.
Sweat poured down his face, and his voice was fierce, “Qi Yongchang, if you scream or kick again, I’ll throw you down!”
Qi Yongchang, terrified, immediately closed his mouth. He slowly opened his eyes and realized he hadn’t fallen.
Shen Haifeng stretched out his other hand. “Give me your hand.”
Tears streamed down Qi Yongchang’s face, and he reached out his hands.
Shen Haifeng struggled but managed to grab his hand and pull him against the tree trunk.
When Qi Yongchang realized he was safe, he began crying loudly, “Waaah!”
“Shut up!” Shen Haifeng yelled. Qi Yongchang covered his mouth with his hands, no longer daring to cry but sobbing quietly.
Under the tree, Qi Yongchang’s father rushed over and shouted angrily, “Qi Yongchang, you little brat, I’m going to beat you to death!”
Qi Yongchang shrank away. “Shen… Brother Shen, I… my father wants to beat me to death.”
Shen Haifeng spoke unhappily, “Let him beat you. You deserve it.”
Qi Yongchang bit his lip, fighting back tears.
“If you cry again, I’ll kick you out,” Shen Haifeng warned.
After saying that, Shen Haifeng ignored him for a moment, needing a break to calm down.
Once Shen Haifeng had settled his emotions, he dragged Qi Yongchang down from the tree.
As soon as they landed, Shen Haiping, Yu Feixu, and the others rushed to Shen Haifeng.
“Brother, are you hurt? I think your arm looks like it’s been scratched by a branch,” Shen Haiping said, looking very concerned.
He started to pull up Shen Haifeng’s sleeve, revealing a blue and purple bruise, with blood oozing from the middle.
Qi Yongchang’s father, Qi Xing, also approached. “Haifeng, how are you?” He immediately saw Shen Haifeng’s injury and said, “Oh, you’re injured like this! Hurry, let me take you to the infirmary.”
Shen Jinxia’s eyes filled with tears. “Brother, does it hurt?”
Shen Haifeng gently rubbed Shen Jinxia’s head with his uninjured right hand. “It’s okay, it’s just a scratch. You all go home first, Mom and the others must be waiting anxiously. Just tell them I’ll be back soon.”
Shen Haiping followed Shen Haifeng. “I’ll go with you.”
Yu Feixu took a look and said, “Then I’ll take Xiaxia home first.”
“Okay, if Mom and the others don’t know about this, don’t tell them. Just pretend it didn’t happen. Even if they do know, don’t mention the scratch. It’ll heal in a few days,” Shen Haifeng instructed.
Qi Xing dragged Qi Yongchang along and took Shen Haifeng to the infirmary.
Qi Xing felt very guilty as he watched the nurse clean Shen Haifeng’s wound and bandage it.
“Hurry up and apologize to Brother Shen,” Qi Xing urged as he brought Qi Yongchang over.
Qi Yongchang’s eyes were red and swollen, like a rabbit’s, “I’m sorry.”
Qi Xing didn’t know what to say, “Haifeng, thank you for saving him today, otherwise this kid would have fallen to his death.”
Once the wound was bandaged, Shen Haifeng felt better after applying the medicine.
“Uncle Qi, it’s okay. We couldn’t just watch someone get hurt,” Shen Haifeng said.
Qi Xing sighed. “This matter can’t just be left like this. I’ll buy some things and send them to the Shen family.”
After leaving the infirmary, Shen Haifeng and the others parted ways with Qi Xing.
From a distance, Shen Haifeng could still hear Qi Xing scolding the child and Qi Yongchang yelling. It sounded like the punishment was severe.
Shen Haiping glanced over and asked, “Is it really okay to beat a child like that?”
Shen Haifeng replied, “It’s fine. It was just a balloon. He deserved it. What’s more important, a balloon or his life?”
“Okay,” Shen Haiping said, then asked, “What will you do if you go home with that injury?”
Shen Haifeng tugged at his sleeve and said, “The sleeves are wide enough; they should cover it.”
Fang Xiaoluo and the others had to have known what happened, since things like this couldn’t be hidden in the compound.
It was just that Fang Xiaoluo and the others had heard the news late, and when she rushed to go out, Yu Feixu had already sent Shen Jinxia back.
“Where’s your brother?” Fang Xiaoluo asked.
Yu Feixu and Yu Xiaopang exchanged a glance, and Yu Feixu replied, “Aunt, Shen Haifeng is behind us. He walks slowly. Feiyue and I will go back first, my mother must be waiting anxiously.”
To avoid making things more complicated, Yu Feixu grabbed Yu Xiaopang and ran off.
Fang Xiaoluo looked down at Shen Jinxia and asked, “Your brother saved a child, right?”
Shen Jinxia nodded. “Yes, it was Qi Yongchang. He insisted on getting a balloon and almost fell off the tree. Luckily, my brother was really capable and caught him just in time, or he would have fallen.”
As Shen Jinxia spoke, she mimicked how her brother had acted at the time.
Fang Xiaoluo squatted down and asked, “Xiaxia, is your brother injured?”
Shen Jinxia’s eyes darted around, and then she quickly covered her mouth with her hands.
Seeing this, Fang Xiaoluo could guess what had happened. She gently removed Shen Jinxia’s hands from her mouth and asked, “What do you mean? Why are you covering your mouth?”
Shen Jinxia explained seriously, “Big brother doesn’t allow me to say it.”
