Chapter 17 The Great Battle with the Giant Python

Since she had decided to confront the giant python head-on, Lu Chenxi began to think about strategies. How could she defeat the giant python with the least casualties? Ideally, she wouldn’t get hurt at all.

First, Lu Chenxi instructed Chenyue to retreat and hide behind a rock, telling her not to make a sound.

Then she took the gun from Chenyue’s hand. This gun was the highest-level weapon they had, and it was essential for defeating the giant python.

Considering that the python was level 3, and the hundred-percent hit gun could only directly kill monsters below level 3, Lu Chenxi first put the harpoon into the space, holding the gun in her right hand and the grenade in her left.

Then she cautiously approached the effective range of the grenade. However, because she was too close, even though Lu Chenxi was very careful to avoid making any noise, she was still discovered by the giant python.

The golden giant python, which had been resting with its eyes closed, suddenly opened its blood-red eyes, the size of a baby’s fist, and its tongue, a full arm’s length, swept coldly towards Lu Chenxi’s direction.

Seeing this two-legged creature that suddenly appeared, the golden giant python found it quite novel. It had grown tired of the prey on the island, and here was a fresh one delivered to its doorstep.

However, because the python usually encountered very weak prey, and the only ones that could be considered somewhat formidable were the sea monsters in the ocean, all of which ended up being swallowed by it.

Therefore, the python didn’t take Lu Chenxi seriously. Of course, it never dreamed that this momentary lapse in judgment would cost it its life at the hands of a two-legged creature it looked down upon.

On Lu Chenxi’s side, seeing that the python had already discovered her, and the moment their blood-red eyes met, she felt her hair stand on end and cold sweat break out on her back.

She managed to calm down and found that the python hadn’t attacked her immediately. Three words flashed through Lu Chenxi’s mind: “Good opportunity!”

She immediately raised her gun and aimed at the golden python’s head: “Bang~”.

Needless to say, the shot hit the golden python, but it didn’t kill it directly.

The python that was hit only felt a sudden blankness in its brain, followed by a sharp pain. It regained its senses and realized that it was being attacked by the two-legged creature it had looked down upon. “It swore that it would make this two-legged creature pay.”

Immediately, the golden python opened its bloody maw and charged towards Lu Chenxi at a speed that was completely inconsistent with its size.

Lu Chenxi, of course, wouldn’t give it that chance. She had been waiting for it to open its mouth, and with all her might, she threw the grenade she had prepared into the python’s mouth, down its throat, and into its belly.

The grenade exploded, creating a large bloody hole in the python’s belly, but it didn’t die immediately. Instead, it stopped its attack, curled up, and rolled around on the ground.

“It really is a level 3 monster, it didn’t even die from that!” Lu Chenxi thought.

Without any hesitation, she took two or three steps forward and plunged the harpoon she had taken from the space into the python’s vital spot, then pulled it out forcefully, repeating the process several times.

With a series of moves, the python died instantly, automatically decomposing into a pile of materials:

[Snake Meat x5, Snake Skin x1, Snake Gall x1]

Lu Chenxi quickly collected the materials that had fallen to the ground and called out to Chenyue: “Okay, it’s safe now, Chenyue, you can come out.”

Chenyue, who had been hiding behind the rock, worried about her sister, quickly came out when she heard her sister calling her.

“Sister, you’re so amazing, the big snake didn’t even react, and you killed it!” Chenyue, perhaps because she had seen Lu Chenxi kill the sea monster last time, wasn’t scared this time, but instead thought it was only natural for her sister to defeat the giant python.

“Thank you for the compliment, Chenyue. You’re great too. You stayed put and didn’t distract me,” Lu Chenxi said.

The two sisters, of course, continued to exchange compliments, both excellent representatives of the praise squad.

Because Lu Chenxi had acted appropriately, and with the time it took to kill the giant python, only half an hour had passed. They still had another half hour to explore the deserted island. Once the time was up, they had to leave immediately, so they couldn’t afford to waste any time.

The giant python was dead, and the fruit tree and treasure chest it had guarded were now Lu Chenxi and Chenyue’s.

First, Chenyue put the green treasure chest into her system space, planning to check it when they returned to their own island.

Then Lu Chenxi climbed the fruit tree guarded by the giant python and quickly picked the five fruits on the tree.

After all, it was a fruit tree guarded by a level 3 golden giant python. Based on Lu Chenxi’s limited experience with novels on Blue Star, this was definitely something good.

Sure enough, after getting the fruits, Lu Chenxi could see their description:

[

Item Level: 3

Item Name: Blood Soul Fruit

Function: Creatures below level 3 can successfully advance one level after eating this fruit (can only be consumed once, multiple consumptions are ineffective)

]

Lu Chenxi saw the description of the fruit and knew that her trip had not been in vain. However, now was not a good time to consume it, so she quickly put the fruit away and took Chenyue to continue exploring the deserted island.

They hunted a few more wild chickens and rabbits, and seven or eight nests of wild eggs, about fifty or sixty in total, enough to eat for a while.

Then they found two red treasure chests. Before the hour was up, they took the kayak back to their island.

Due to time constraints, Lu Chenxi certainly didn’t have time to search the deserted island inch by inch, but the harvest was still good. Not to mention the other things, these wild chickens and rabbits were enough for them to eat for a month or two. When they got tired of them, they could trade them for other things.

The only pity was that because these wild chickens and rabbits were not level animals, they wouldn’t automatically decompose after being hunted. Lu Chenxi had to do it herself.

After returning home, the two were exhausted. They had been rushing around, without even a moment to catch their breath, let alone drink water.

So the first thing they did was each drink a large glass of water, before they had the energy to take stock of their harvest.

First, they put all the hunted wild chickens and rabbits, as well as the snake meat and other materials dropped by the giant python, into Chenyue’s space.

There was no way, Lu Chenxi’s space was relatively small, and it was already half full with miscellaneous things. She had to leave some space for the materials she would harvest later.

Then there were the two red treasure chests and one green treasure chest. Chenyue opened them with a few clicks, obtaining the following materials:

[Down Quilt x1, Potatoes x30, Sweet Potatoes x30, Edible Salt x10, Large Wooden Bucket Blueprint x1, Black Iron Sword x1]

The down quilt wasn’t needed for now, but it would be useful when the weather got colder. The potatoes and sweet potatoes could be eaten as staples, occasionally changing the taste.

There were 10 packs of edible salt, each weighing 300 grams. With the salt produced by the water purifier, they had more than enough salt now. They could trade some of it for other seasonings to make their meals more flavorful.

The large wooden bucket blueprint came at the right time. Lu Chenxi and her companions were just short of a wooden bucket for bathing, and they could make more to store water.

Finally, the black iron sword from the green treasure chest successfully replaced the harpoon and became Lu Chenxi’s new favorite weapon for combat.
