Chapter 21 Catching a Cold

In the middle of the night, Lu Chenxi woke up in a feverish sweat. Upon waking, she felt parched and weak. She took out some cold water she had stored in her space and drank several large gulps, slightly suppressing the burning sensation in her body.

Without thinking much, she assumed it was because the blanket was too thick, so she loosened it and fell back into a deep sleep.

The next day, Chenyue woke up and noticed something was wrong with her sister. Seeing her sister still asleep and her face flushed, Chenyue sensed something was amiss.

Remembering the chat channel mentioning catching a cold from getting wet, she tentatively placed her hand on her sister’s forehead. This was something she had learned from her mother. When she had a cold, her mother would do the same to her.

Sure enough, Lu Chenxi’s forehead was burning hot. Now, Chenyue didn’t need to guess anymore, her sister must have caught a cold and had a fever.

Chenyue felt a little panicked. She had always been the one being taken care of by Lu Chenxi, and now that Lu Chenxi was down, Chenyue didn’t know what to do.

“Sister, sister, wake up,” Chenyue called out to her sister softly twice, trying to wake her up.

Lu Chenxi was delirious from the fever, she seemed to hear a little noise and mumbled something before falling back asleep.

Seeing her sister sleeping, her brows furrowed in discomfort from the fever, Chenyue felt a pang of heartache, but she also started thinking of solutions in her little head.

When she had a cold, her mother and sister would usually take her to the hospital, but there was no hospital here.

Chenyue was worried. She felt that she hadn’t been so worried even when she had a cold. In the past, if she had a bad cold, a nurse would give her an injection, and if it wasn’t serious, she would have to eat bitter medicine that her mother and sister forced her to take.

Thinking about this, Chenyue’s eyes lit up: “Medicine, yes, I opened a cold medicine in the treasure chest before.”

She quickly rummaged through her space. She remembered that her sister had put the cold medicine in her space.

Because Chenyue was too young, she hadn’t developed the habit of organizing her space. Only the items her sister had told her to put in a specific place were in the most obvious location.

So, after turning her space upside down, Chenyue finally found three pitiful packets of cold medicine in a corner.

“I have the cold medicine, now I have to boil water and make some medicine for my sister,” Chenyue obediently put on her big cotton coat, which was a little too long and dragged on the ground.

It took a lot of effort to get the firewood burning. After finally boiling a pot of water and making the medicine, Chenyue was already sweating.

Carefully placing the prepared medicine on the bedside table, Chenyue started calling her sister again: “Sister, wake up and take your medicine, hurry up.”

There was a buzzing in her ears, Lu Chenxi felt so noisy. She struggled to wake up, but she felt completely weak and extremely tired, so she turned over and gave up struggling.

Seeing that her sister wouldn’t wake up no matter how much she called, Chenyue simply pinched her sister’s nose. Lu Chenxi, who was woken up by being suffocated, was completely confused and didn’t know what was happening.

It wasn’t until Chenyue explained that Lu Chenxi realized she had caught a cold in the middle of the night and now had a fever.

After thanking Chenyue profusely, Lu Chenxi swallowed the cold medicine in one gulp.

After drinking the medicine, Lu Chenxi felt an urgent need to urinate. She got out of bed to go to the bathroom, but she sneezed several times in a row: “Achoo, achoo…”

After quickly taking care of her physiological needs, Lu Chenxi went back to bed and fell asleep again within two minutes. Chenyue watched in astonishment, she hadn’t even called her sister to eat breakfast yet.

Seeing Lu Chenxi sleeping so soundly, Chenyue didn’t bother her and ate a banana herself. She then went back to bed and stayed by her sister’s side, eventually falling asleep herself.

They slept until almost afternoon. Lu Chenxi woke up slowly, feeling that her fever had subsided and her weakness had disappeared. “This cold medicine from the system is truly extraordinary.”

It was only then that Lu Chenxi realized her stomach was rumbling. She checked the time and saw it was already 1 pm.

Lu Chenxi quickly woke up Chenyue, who was still asleep, and took out the food she had saved from yesterday. They finished their lunch.

After eating, they both felt very energetic. After sleeping for so long, how could they not be energetic?

Lu Chenxi looked outside at the heavy rain, which showed no signs of stopping. She thought they probably wouldn’t be able to go out today.

She was used to being busy every day, and now that she had nothing to do, she was incredibly bored.

“Sister, we haven’t signed in today,” Chenyue reminded her, seeing her sister staring blankly outside.

Lu Chenxi looked confused: “Ah, really? We haven’t signed in? My brain must be fried from the fever, I completely forgot about signing in.”

Lu Chenxi couldn’t believe her luck today, “I actually got a piece of territory and 5 packets of cold medicine.”

Did the system see that I was sick and gave me this on purpose? Is the system really that kind?

Because it was raining heavily outside, the territory couldn’t be used immediately. They would have to wait until the rain stopped. The cold medicine was also not needed for now. After finishing one packet, Lu Chenxi’s cold was completely gone, no symptoms at all. It really came and went like the wind.

Seeing Chenyue’s sign-in rewards, Lu Chenxi realized what it meant to be caring.

She had mentioned before that the cotton coat was an adult size, so Chenyue wasn’t wearing it properly. Now, she was immediately rewarded with a down jacket that fit her size, and it was bright red, very festive.

The painting set and storybook were perfect for keeping Chenyue entertained.

The painting set included three thick sketchbooks and a set of colorful crayons. The sketchbooks were filled with various beautiful princesses, castles, small animals, flowers, and plants.

It immediately captured Chenyue’s heart. She immediately opened the princess sketchbook and started coloring.

Lu Chenxi watched Chenyue drawing with such fascination, and she was also drawn in.

She picked up one of the animal sketchbooks and tried it out. Before she knew it, she was completely immersed in it.

She wondered if middle school students would find this childish, but for Lu Chenxi, a college student, it was just right.
