Chapter 16
“Go.” Jiang Muning answered decisively.
Joining the army was something she had fought hard for, she wouldn’t foolishly give it up for his white moonlight.
A gentleman would make things easy for others, but she was a woman, she didn’t need to~
Looking at her eyes, Qin Muye released her hand, his cold face was serious.
He had to think of a way to make her life a little easier on the island when winter came.
Jiang Muning looked at his serious expression with furrowed brows, she puffed up her cheeks in frustration: How much he didn’t like her going.
Thinking about this, Jiang Muning tossed her long, black hair, and quickened her pace.
After checking their tickets, they were ready to board the train.
Jiang Heng looked at his big bags and Qin Muye’s big bags, then looked at Jiang Muning who had nothing in her hands, so he handed her his small bag.
“Why?” Jiang Muning looked resistant.
“Help me share the burden.” Jiang Heng said truthfully.
Jiang Muning’s eyebrows furrowed, her whole body exuded resistance. Before she could speak, she heard Qin Muye’s low voice: “Big brother-in-law, can’t even carry this?”
“Not really.”
As soon as Jiang Heng denied it, he saw Qin Muye calmly say: “Then carry it yourself.”
He then took out the Shachima he had bought in the morning from his large bag and silently stuffed it into her hand.
“…” Jiang Heng twitched his lips.
Jiang Muning smiled, opened the Shachima, took a bite, and said happily: “My hands are full, you do it yourself.”
Jiang Heng had no choice but to continue carrying it.
Walking onto the platform, Jiang Muning saw that Qin Muye was carrying a lot of things, so she wanted to help: “Should I take some?”
“No need.” Qin Muye was concise and to the point, his steps were still steady.
Seeing this, Jiang Muning shrugged and continued to eat her sweet Shachima.
Jiang Heng was a little hungry, he leaned over: “You seem to be living a pretty good life.”
“Why don’t you find a rich woman to marry?” Jiang Muning joked.
“Go away, you make me sound like a gigolo.”
“You’re not.” Jiang Muning shook her head seriously, “You’re black.”
“…” Jiang Heng had a black line on his forehead, Jiang Muning really couldn’t say anything nice.
Finally, they got on the train, Jiang Muning and Qin Muye sat side by side.
Jiang Heng was originally in another carriage, but later, he exchanged seats with an old man in the same carriage who was going to the same destination, using three steamed buns.
Compared to the quiet and clean modern high-speed train travel, Jiang Muning felt a different train culture.
The carriage was packed with people standing, and there were large and small woven bags, making the aisle narrow.
The men mostly wore Dacron shirts and black pants or jeans. The women wore floral dresses, either with braids or permed hair.
The carriage was noisy, there were loud conversations and card games everywhere, and even a duck was quacking, the atmosphere of life was strong.
“How long until we get there?” Jiang Muning asked curiously.
“Fifteen hours by train, then another two hours by boat to the island.” Qin Muye answered truthfully.
Her eyes widened like copper bells, feeling the hard seat, Jiang Muning mourned for her old waist for a few seconds.
The train rumbled forward, Jiang Muning looked out the window listlessly.
It was too noisy inside the carriage, after seeing enough scenery, Jiang Muning started to eat the food Qin Muye brought.
Jiang Heng was her brother-in-law after all, Qin Muye divided some food with him, which moved him to tears.
After transmigrating, he hadn’t eaten well except for the day Jiang Muning went back to her parents’ house.
“Jiang Heng, what did you bring to eat?” Jiang Muning asked curiously.
Jiang Heng suddenly remembered something, he rummaged through his woven bag, took out a few flatbreads: “This is the sorghum flatbread Mom made, she asked me to bring it to you.”
Jiang Muning, who had never eaten sorghum flatbread, took it with interest, and took a big bite.
So hard…
Her small mouth was stuffed with sorghum flatbread, she couldn’t swallow.
Finally finding an opportunity to tease her, Jiang Heng smiled and said: “You can’t swallow it, can you? Can’t you, can’t you?”
Just as he was about to laugh even more brightly, Jiang Heng felt a chill. He slowly turned his head and saw a cold glare shot at him, a silent intimidation.
Jiang Heng silently stopped laughing, sat down obediently, and continued to eat: Woo woo woo, that look was so scary, like he wanted to kill me, I can’t afford to offend him.
At the same time as Qin Muye’s warning look, his hand didn’t fall behind, he handed her the opened water bottle.
Jiang Muning gulped down a large mouthful, finally swallowing it.
“I’m finally alive.” Jiang Muning breathed a sigh of relief.
Although she had been eating wild vegetables frequently these past few days, she hadn’t really lived a hard life because of Qin Muye’s protection.
That sorghum flatbread gave her a real understanding of reality.
Thinking about this, Jiang Muning looked at the man beside her with burning eyes: No matter what, she had to cling to his thigh.
As long as I don’t die, you are all concubines.
Qin Muye looked at her in puzzlement, his heart beat faster, and he nervously looked away.
So, Jiang Muning gave the rest of the sorghum flatbread to Qin Muye, and she continued to eat the pastries he bought.
Night fell, Jiang Muning felt sleepy, she kept yawning.
“Sleepy?” A mellow voice sounded.
Jiang Muning, who was yawning, had misty eyes, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, she nodded: “Too noisy, can’t sleep.”
In the noisy environment, she was not easy to fall asleep, plus someone was playing cards nine loudly and excitedly.
Qin Muye’s expression was serious.
This wasn’t the army, he didn’t have the authority to tell people to shut up.
After thinking for a moment, Qin Muye put her head on his shoulder.
Jiang Muning was puzzled, then she saw the surrounding noise suddenly become quieter.
His shoulder blocked her ears, his broad hand covered her ears, blocking out the sounds.
Qin Muye lowered his head, his mellow voice was like a bewitchment: “Close your eyes.”
He then adjusted the position of his hand. His long fingers still blocked her ears, his palm covered her eyes, blocking the light from the carriage.
The world became quiet, the darkness in front of her gave her a strange sense of peace.
Jiang Muning obediently closed her eyes.
Sleepiness slowly crept in, Jiang Muning actually fell asleep.
Qin Muye sat up straight, motionless, so as not to disturb her with the escaping sounds.
He turned his head, his lips against her forehead. Only when he felt her even breathing did his brow relax a little.
As the night deepened, the carriage finally became quiet.
Qin Muye retracted his hand, moving his stiff arm.
He felt more comfortable, seeing that her hair was against her eyes, he gently moved it away.
The train rattled forward, when it turned, people would lean, which would easily wake them up.
Seeing that the turn was coming, Qin Muye quickly protected her head, letting her lean against him steadily to sleep.
Jiang Heng was sitting diagonally behind them, he was holding steamed buns in both hands, eating one while observing Qin Muye’s actions.
“So considerate, there’s something fishy! Could it be that he’s fallen for Jiang Muning?”
