Chapter 29
Shen Sijin narrowed her eyes, her forehead twitching.
Just as she was thinking about whether to step forward and assert her position as the “real wife,” she saw Qin Muye politely declining: “Thank you for your kindness, Comrade Gu, I appreciate it.”
Gu Manli was stunned for two seconds, her hand paused in mid-air, but she quickly adjusted her facial expression and said softly: “This wristband was made for you, I wouldn’t be able to use it. Captain Qin, you don’t have to be polite with me.”
As she spoke, Gu Manli continued.
Just as her hand was about to touch Qin Muye’s wrist, she saw him take a step back, creating distance between them.
“I have a wife, she’ll make one for me.” Qin Muye refused again.
Seeing Qin Muye’s serious refusal, Gu Manli felt like she had been slapped hard.
“I understand, I was being presumptuous.” Gu Manli covered her face in distress and ran forward with her head down.
Qin Muye remained unmoved, his cold face showing no sign of change.
Just as he was about to continue walking out, he saw Jiang Muning appear in his line of sight.
Seeing her, Qin Muye walked towards her quickly.
“Where did you go?” Seeing her usually smooth hair looking messy, Qin Muye frowned.
Jiang Muning didn’t hide anything, she replied with a sweet smile: “I went to dig for conch to sell, I made some money.”
Hearing this, Qin Muye immediately took her hand.
Seeing that she wasn’t injured, his frown finally eased a little.
Thinking about her going to dig for conch to make money again, Qin Muye asked: “Not enough money?”
“It’s enough for now, but I want to buy some furniture, it might not be enough.” Jiang Muning said truthfully.
Qin Muye had given her a few hundred yuan before, and she didn’t want to spend it all.
Qin Muye felt guilty. Over the years, the money he had saved, except for the thirty yuan he sent to his family every month, he had kept the rest, and most of it was used to marry her.
Besides the money and tickets he had given Jiang Muning last time, he only had twenty yuan left.
Jiang Muning looked at him, his emotionless face made it impossible to guess what he was thinking.
“Where are you going?” Jiang Muning asked curiously.
“To the canteen to get food.” Qin Muye answered concisely.
“Didn’t you say I’d cook? What, you’re rejecting it?”
“No.” The denial was said very quickly.
“Then let’s go home and cook, hurry up, I’m hungry.” Jiang Muning said, walking forward with light steps.
Qin Muye watched her back, his clear and cold eyes seemed to have made a decision.
Back home, Qin Muye was just about to say that there were no vegetables when he saw that Jiang Muning’s hands were not only holding a few white radishes, but also cabbage and napa cabbage.
Qin Muye was puzzled: How come he didn’t see them just now?
Jiang Muning was about to wash the radishes when Qin Muye strode forward and took the radishes.
Seeing him so eager to help, Jiang Muning didn’t refuse.
Therefore, she only took charge of the stir-frying step, and the rest was done by him.
In a short while, a simple two dishes and one soup were freshly cooked.
Looking at the spicy cabbage, Qin Muye felt a bit of pain in his throat, but he still silently reached out with his chopsticks.
He felt that he had to practice eating spicy food.
Jiang Muning was drinking the white radish soup, her beautiful eyebrows furrowed slightly: “Is the taste a bit bland?”
“No.” Qin Muye took a sip.
As they ate, Jiang Muning casually said: “That girl just now was pretty.”
“So-so.” Qin Muye didn’t look up.
He wasn’t interested in what other women looked like.
“I think she’s quite pretty, she should be the type your men like.”
Gentle and innocent, men’s favorite.
Qin Muye looked up at her.
Seeing his gaze, Jiang Muning was puzzled: “What?”
“Not as pretty as you.” Qin Muye said confidently.
He only liked Jiang Muning, he wasn’t interested in knowing what other men liked.
Jiang Muning’s lips couldn’t help but curl up, her vanity was greatly satisfied: “That’s right. Is that girl from the family compound?”
“Comrade Gu Manli is a military doctor in the army.” Qin Muye explained.
Hearing this, Jiang Muning was surprised: She was the female lead in the book, Gu Manli.
Jiang Muning’s impression of her was still good, after all, the book didn’t say that she did anything excessive during the time when the male lead was married to the original female lead.
Plus, later on, seeing that she couldn’t warm up to Qin Muye, she turned to pursue her career, which Jiang Muning admired.
But today, seeing her showing her tenderness to Qin Muye, knowing that he was newly married, she was clearly a mistress who was interfering in other people’s marriage.
After finishing their meal, Jiang Muning put down her chopsticks and looked at him: “Brother Makino, you’re a married man now.”
“Yeah.”
“So you need to keep your distance from other women.” Jiang Muning said seriously. “I’m a small-minded person, I don’t share my husband with other women. If you want to be intimate with other women, then divorce me first.”
No matter what era it was, Jiang Muning wouldn’t allow her partner to cheat.
Even if Qin Muye didn’t willingly marry her.
But since he married her, he had to abide by her marriage principles.
Hearing her words, Qin Muye’s face tightened: “Not divorcing.”
“Then control yourself.”
“Okay.”
Seeing him agree so readily, Jiang Muning was satisfied and reminded him: “If you dare to be hypocritical, I’ll take advantage of you while you’re sleeping…”
As she spoke, Jiang Muning picked up her chopsticks and slammed them on the table.
Qin Muye suddenly felt a chill between his legs.
“I won’t cheat.” Qin Muye seriously stated his position.
“I believe you.” Jiang Muning replied playfully.
However, she was still very curious about who Qin Muye’s white moonlight was, and why, in the novel, after she, the original wife, died, he didn’t marry his white moonlight.
But she didn’t want to think about things she couldn’t understand, things would naturally become clear.
With that settled, Jiang Muning prepared to take a shower, while Qin Muye started washing the dishes and doing housework.
Taking her change of clothes, Jiang Muning hummed a song and walked towards the bathroom with light steps.
Entering the bathroom, she looked at the showerhead that Qin Muye had modified. Turning on the faucet, warm water sprayed down from her head.
The water droplets flowed down her body, Jiang Muning hummed a song, feeling happy as she rubbed on the soap.
After being in the 1980s for so long, she could finally take a hot shower.
Finally, she finished showering, and Jiang Muning was about to wipe her body when she realized that she had forgotten to bring a towel.
She quietly poked her head out, even though there was no one in the bathroom at the moment, she still didn’t have the courage to go out naked.
After thinking for a moment, Jiang Muning shouted in a loud voice: “Brother Makino!”
Qin Muye, who was washing dishes in the kitchen, heard the sound and quickly put down the bowl and ran to the bathroom.
“What’s wrong?” Qin Muye rushed into the bathroom.
“I forgot to bring my towel.” Jiang Muning stood in the cubicle, explaining awkwardly.
Hearing this, Qin Muye’s hanging heart dropped, he turned around to get a towel.
Seeing that there were still bubbles of dish soap on his hands, Qin Muye washed his hands before picking up the towel.
Taking the towel, Qin Muye didn’t think much, he opened the door of the cubicle.
The next second, in the misty steam, the white flesh was revealed, a visual assault.
