Chapter 36
Su Qianqian felt a bit guilty seeing his expression; after all, he was doing this for the children’s sake. If she were in the original’s shoes, she indeed couldn’t take the children from him. It was hard to imagine what kind of people the three children would grow up to be without him.
“Cheng Yue, how about this? I’ll write a guarantee, and you can come check on the kids periodically or send someone to check. If the kids aren’t with me, you can handle it however you want. How does that sound?”
“At that time, you can also take the children away,” she added.
Cheng Yue looked at her, surprised, but didn’t say anything.
“You can send people to inspect at any time, surprise checks. I can manage for a month or two, but I can’t keep up the pretense for a year or more. And by then, the children will be older, and I won’t be able to control everything like I used to.”
Now that she had said this much, it would seem unreasonable for Cheng Yue to refuse.
“Alright, you write the guarantee, and I’ll go write the divorce application.”
Su Qianqian let out a sigh of relief. With children involved, wasn’t this the best outcome?
Cheng Yue went to the study.
She began to think about names for the three children.
“Daya, how about calling you Cheng Qingyan? The character ‘yan’ means beautiful, and you are so pretty, Daya.” She wrote the name Cheng Qingyan on paper.
“Good! Mommy, you have such a beautiful name for me! Now I have a name—Cheng Qingyan!” Daya was thrilled, her eyes sparkling with joy.
“Mommy, what about me? What about me?” Erbao and Sanya eagerly asked, wanting names too.
Su Qianqian thought for a moment and wrote, “Erbao, since your cousin Chuan Chuan is called Cheng Qingchuan, I’ll name you Cheng Qinghe. The character ‘he’ means prominent, because I believe you’ll grow up to be someone very important.”
Erbao didn’t understand at first, but after hearing the latter part, he puffed out his little chest proudly and said, “Yes, I’ll definitely be someone great in the future, to protect Mommy, and protect my sister and brother!”
Sanya looked up at Su Qianqian with big, eager eyes.
“For you, little one, I’ll name you Cheng Qingyue, because I hope you’ll always be happy,” Su Qianqian said.
The three children were thrilled with their names and couldn’t stop smiling.
When Cheng Yue came out of the study, he saw the three children bouncing around with the paper in their hands.
“What’s going on here?”
“I gave them their full names,” Su Qianqian replied.
Happy with their new names, the three children were kinder to Cheng Yue, showing him their names. Cheng Yue was taken aback. How could Su Qianqian, who couldn’t even read properly, come up with such good names?
Cheng Qingyan, Cheng Qinghe, Cheng Qingyue.
He had to admit, these were very good names.
“You write quite well,” he commented.
“Really? It looks like chicken scratches, doesn’t it?” Su Qianqian said playfully, intentionally making the writing look a bit rough. She only cared about getting the strokes right. Even so, for a beginner, it was still impressive.
“It’s good. With more practice, it’ll be even better,” Cheng Yue replied.
Their relationship, which had been tense, had returned to normal now that they had worked things out.
“I’ll still massage your legs tonight,” Su Qianqian said. “After all, we’ll be parting soon, and we probably won’t see each other much. Once your leg heals, I’ll take the kids and leave.”
It wasn’t that Cheng Yue’s problem was that serious; he had been affected by the original’s actions. Su Qianqian was certainly going to help him heal his leg.
Hearing her words, Cheng Yue felt a slight prick in his heart. It wasn’t painful, but it was noticeable, and it created an uncomfortable, suffocating feeling inside.
“Mm,” he murmured in response, saying nothing more.
Before bed, Su Qianqian poured a cup of water, added three drops of a healing essence, and placed it on the table. “When you’re thirsty later, you can drink it,” she said, aiming to speed up his recovery.
She then focused on massaging Cheng Yue’s leg.
The more Cheng Yue watched her, the more he felt an indescribable frustration, and this frustration wasn’t because of Su Qianqian, but because of himself.
It was even more complicated than dealing with work issues.
Her hands seemed to have become even fairer and softer, her skin smooth, and her touch gentle, but when she massaged his leg, the pressure felt quite comfortable.
He picked up the cup of water to suppress his wandering thoughts and turbulent emotions.
However, after taking a sip, he realized how delicious it was. He drank a few more sips, and indeed, it was quite refreshing.
“Did you add something to the water?” he asked, puzzled.
“No,” Su Qianqian denied.
It was strange. He tasted it again, but couldn’t identify anything. There was a slight sweetness, but it was very faint.
Could a concussion affect taste?
Su Qianqian had massaged Cheng Yue’s leg for thirty minutes, and her hands were sore.
“It’s done,” she said, walking over to the bed and kissing the foreheads of the three little ones. “Good night, my babies.”
The three children were shocked!
Mom actually kissed them!
Cheng Yue saw this and was equally stunned. His gaze involuntarily landed on her lips. He had never thought that her lips might feel so soft.
His throat tightened, and he forced himself to suppress the strange thoughts.
After Su Qianqian went out and took a bath, she comfortably lay down on the bed. She was wondering when she would leave and return to the Tianshui Village. But if she got a divorce, where would she stay in Tianshui Village?
Still, she had to go back and say goodbye to the Cheng family. Her in-laws had always treated the children well.
She could rent a house in the town for now.
When she woke up in the morning, she habitually checked the situation with the healing essence and was pleasantly surprised to find that the small tender sprout had grown a bit. It was now about the length of a finger segment, tender green, and particularly beautiful.
She was curious about what would grow from it.
“Today, Mommy will give you a nice hairstyle.” She wasn’t lacking pretty hairbands and small clips, so she could style their hair nicely.
She styled Daya and Sanya’s hair into two uneven braids. The children’s hair was soft, and these braids looked very cute. Then she added small flower clips, five on each side, a total of ten clips. The fresh, light colors were even quite beautiful.
“It looks so pretty!!” Erbao enthusiastically praised, complimenting his sister and little sister.
The two girls occasionally reached up to touch their hair clips, clearly loving them.
Cheng Yue also thought they looked exceptionally cute. Now the three children had gained some baby fat, and they looked much better than when they first arrived. They were fair and plump, like delicate porcelain figures.
“If anyone tries to tug at your hair, warn them the first time, warn them firmly. If they do it again, smack them!” Many little boys liked to pull girls’ hair, so she wanted to warn them in advance.
“We’ll remember, Mommy.”
Cheng Yue still went with Su Qianqian to send the children to school. He could clearly feel that his condition had improved today, and he was able to walk normally. This surprised him.
As they walked, Wu Jin saw him and was amazed. “Cheng Yue, you’re already better?” He knew how serious Cheng Yue’s injury was, and even the higher-ups were lamenting it. Otherwise, Cheng Yue’s future would have been limitless.
“I’m much better. I need to walk around more,” Cheng Yue said. Short distances weren’t a problem, but he still couldn’t walk too much without tiring out. But he was satisfied with his current improvement.
“That’s great!” Wu Jin clapped him on the shoulder.
After dropping the kids off at kindergarten, Su Qianqian and Cheng Yue parted ways. Cheng Yue had some things to take care of, and he also planned to submit the divorce application.
