Chapter 102 : Practice Leads to True Knowledge
Xue Qingyin blinked her innocent eyes and said, “I didn’t say that.”
King Xuan was so angry that it made him chuckle. He said in a low voice, “Everyone leave.”
The palace maid blushed, seemingly understanding something, and bowed her head as she started to leave.
Suddenly, King Xuan spoke again: “Pour out the medicine.”
“Yes, yes.” The palace maid’s face turned even redder as she quickly picked up the bowl of medicine and headed out. When closing the door, she accidentally slammed it a bit too hard, making a loud sound.
That sound struck Xue Qingyin’s heart as if it were knocking on her heart’s door.
Xue Qingyin’s innocent expression grew even more intense.
She asked, “Aren’t we going back to the Cunxin Palace? Why close the door?”
“What do you think?” King Xuan asked her.
Xue Qingyin quickly tried to pull away, but King Xuan held her even tighter.
She hurriedly asked, “Your Highness, after coming back from outside, don’t you feel tired after such a long day?”
King Xuan was silent for a moment before speaking softly, “How could I feel tired when I see you?”
Xue Qingyin was shocked.
Since when could King Xuan say such sweet words?
She quickly grabbed the Prince’s sleeve and said, “I don’t believe it, let me down and I’ll take a closer look.”
King Xuan fell silent for a moment, then opened his lips and softly said, “In a moment, when you loosen my clothes, you’ll naturally see clearly.”
Xue Qingyin: !!!
The dignified Prince of Xuan, being so improper!
King Xuan held her in his arms and turned toward the large bed set up in the Changqiu Pavilion.
He then asked, “Why are you resting here today?”
Xue Qingyin, holding his sleeve, pretended to be serious and said, “I was afraid Your Highness would bully me, so I moved a bit further away.”
She almost said that he was already bullying her right now.
The words she had said earlier about the medicine had only added fuel to the fire, and now she didn’t expect the fire to burn her.
Seeing how displeased King Xuan seemed, wasn’t she going to be stuck in bed tomorrow?
She had to seize the moment to complain more!
King Xuan chuckled and glanced at her, but didn’t take her words seriously.
He grabbed her waist with one hand and asked in a low voice, “How did I bully you?”
He lowered his head to kiss her.
Then he separated and asked, “Hmm? Is this how I bully you?”
After speaking, he pushed her onto the bed, unbuttoned her clothing, and deliberately made it difficult for her to struggle.
“Is this how I bully you?”
Xue Qingyin felt like her petals were being peeled off, revealing the stamen inside.
She bit down hard on his Adam’s apple in anger.
King Xuan stiffened, his muscles tightening, but he didn’t stop her.
Xue Qingyin became more reckless, as if using his neck to sharpen her teeth.
If she didn’t get a good result tomorrow, he would have to lose face in the military!
But she forgot that her small strength didn’t seem like revenge to King Xuan, but rather like teasing.
With just a few movements, King Xuan was even more worked up.
He grabbed her entirely, then sat down and placed Xue Qingyin on his lap.
Xue Qingyin, fearing she would slip and fall, instinctively hugged his neck.
Taking advantage of the situation, King Xuan entered, then asked her softly, “Is this also bullying?”
Xue Qingyin no longer had the strength to answer him.
The candle burned until dawn.
Xue Qingyin still had some memory of the night. In her dazed state, she kicked King Xuan twice, then was pulled back into his embrace.
The next day, she woke up close to noon, the sun already beginning to set.
Xue Qingyin immediately sat up and saw King Xuan still sitting by the desk, waiting for her. When he saw her awake, he put down the book he had been reading.
Xue Qingyin deliberately huffed loudly at him.
King Xuan took long strides, crossing three steps in two, and asked, “Do you want to get out of bed for breakfast?”
Xue Qingyin replied with a question, “Do you think I can still get up?”
“I will carry you, Qingyin.” King Xuan answered.
Xue Qingyin pointed at King Xuan and complained, “The cat is crying over the mouse, and the weasel is offering New Year’s greetings to the chicken…”
She was almost exhausting her limited knowledge of pun phrases by applying them to King Xuan.
But did King Xuan show any signs of being affected?
His face remained calm, and his movements were steady. He quickly lifted Xue Qingyin and placed her on the soft couch. While dressing her, he seriously said, “Yinyin, if you act like a mouse, it’s not very attractive.”
Xue Qingyin glared at him and turned her head to bite his hand back.
The veins on King Xuan’s hand slightly bulged.
He murmured, “Yinyin, I wanted to say this to you a couple of days ago.”
“Say what?” Xue Qingyin asked fiercely.
“Don’t always bite me.”
“What’s wrong? Is it beneath Your Highness’s dignity and grace?”
King Xuan straightened her collar and said, “Yinyin, do you still want to get out of bed tomorrow?”
Xue Qingyin’s expression turned strange, and she quickly shrank back, dryly saying, “Oh… I got it.”
This person is way too reserved!
King Xuan pulled her back, tied her sash, and said, “If you get mad at me next time…”
Xue Qingyin tilted her head and looked at him.
King Xuan added, “You can kick me twice.”
Then Xue Qingyin was about to argue, “I kicked you yesterday.”
King Xuan replied, “Really?”
Xue Qingyin thought to herself, how annoying.
No wonder I kicked you two times last night, and you ended up holding me tightly.
Are you saying I didn’t have enough strength?
Xue Qingyin boldly declared, “Next time I’ll go learn how to kick harder.”
King Xuan said, “Mm, but right now we should have our meal. After eating, you’ll have the energy.”
Xue Qingyin immediately played the role of a spoiled brat, saying, “My hands have no strength. Your Highness, feed me.”
King Xuan responded, “Alright.”
Xue Qingyin puffed out her cheeks, looking still somewhat dissatisfied.
As the meal was brought to them, King Xuan asked, “Is there still something bothering you, Yinyin?”
Xue Qingyin lazily replied, “Your Highness agreed too quickly. It’s lost all its flavor.”
King Xuan couldn’t help but laugh and sigh.
He found her both cute and amusing.
How could he think her behavior was delicate and unreasonable?
The meal was soon served.
King Xuan kept his word and picked up his chopsticks to feed her.
But Xue Qingyin felt a bit embarrassed and pushed his hand away.
“I’ll eat faster on my own,” she sighed.
King Xuan said in a deep voice, “In the future, no one will dare to send these things to you.”
Xue Qingyin clapped her hands, saying, “That’s the best.”
King Xuan watched her and softly said, “So you won’t ask me if it’s okay again?”
Hearing this, the palace maid’s face turned red.
As the saying goes, when you have a lot of debts, you don’t worry about them.
When there are too many lice, you don’t mind being bitten.
But Xue Qingyin today remained unfazed, biting her chopsticks and mumbling, “I didn’t ask that, Your Highness, don’t accuse me.”
King Xuan picked up some food for her.
He said, “Since you didn’t ask, then you answer it.”
Xue Qingyin was stunned. “Answer what?”
King Xuan looked at her, “Yinyin, haven’t you figured it out yet? If you don’t know, maybe tonight we can practice and find out for sure.”
Xue Qingyin widened her eyes.
This man! How come he’s not just reserved but also scheming?
Xue Qingyin pretended not to understand and used a diversion tactic, asking, “By the way, how’s the investigation into the Lin family in the east of the city going?”
