Chapter 2
Jiang Zhizhi ran to the riverbank, leaned forward, and took a look. The first thing she did was to confirm her own appearance.
What if her face had changed? That would be too terrifying.
When the familiar face appeared before her eyes, Jiang Zhizhi let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, thankfully!
The original owner and her looked exactly alike, only younger and fairer. Jiang Zhizhi was twenty-two years old before she came here.
After clarifying the current situation, a hint of disbelief flashed in Jiang Zhizhi’s eyes. Time travel? Entering a book? This was truly an incredible thing.
Memories belonging to the original owner flooded in.
She had traveled to 1972, sharing the same name, surname, and birthdate as the original owner. What a coincidence, wasn’t it?
The original owner’s father, Jiang Xiang Sheng, was a research scientist at the military district’s weapons research institute. He was dedicated to his country, spending day and night in the research lab working on weapons research. He held important national projects, which were confidential and couldn’t be shown to outsiders.
In this era, Jiang Xiang Sheng was undoubtedly a big shot.
The original owner’s mother, Lin Ting, was a pillar of the art troupe. Before getting married, she had captivated countless hearts with her beauty.
After marrying Jiang Xiang Sheng, she decisively withdrew from the art troupe.
At a time when the country needed her most, she, with a heart filled with patriotism and unwavering belief, chose the path of medicine. After joining the army, she followed her husband Jiang Xiang Sheng to participate in construction.
The couple lived happily ever after, raising a son and a daughter together.
The original owner’s brother, Jiang Wang, was a true soldier who had fought bravely on the battlefield, sacrificing his life to defend his country. He had achieved great feats and was highly regarded by his superiors. Through his hard work, he had risen to the position of battalion commander at a young age.
In eight years of military service, he had only returned home less than six times.
The original owner was the apple of her parents’ eyes, a pampered little girl.
Although she was a bit spoiled and needed to be coaxed, and was a little clueless about minor things, she was kind-hearted.
However, the accident came too suddenly. The original owner’s father was framed by someone he trusted, and the so-called evidence had been submitted.
The situation became increasingly tense, and the day of the trial was approaching.
The original owner, who had never experienced major events, was constantly afraid of this and that. Her fragile mind grew weaker day by day. On top of that, rumors were spread outside, saying that those involved in the trial would suffer all the hardships in the world.
This period was already very depressing, and hearing these words made the original owner even more hopeless about the future.
Even many people in the compound distanced themselves from their family, isolating them and spreading all sorts of nasty rumors.
The original owner was afraid that her parents would see her emotional state. They were also suffering, yet they were worried about her.
So during this time, the original owner pretended to be indifferent on the surface, but her mental state had already collapsed. Many things were weighing her down, making it hard for her to breathe.
Today was particularly bad. She couldn’t catch her breath, and suddenly, she was gone.
Jiang Zhizhi, the all-round genius known for her stunning beauty, had arrived.
Bad news: The incident was about to happen.
Even worse news: The original owner’s family, all good people, were destined to have a bad ending at this point in time.
After reviewing the plot of the original book, Jiang Zhizhi sighed softly.
She had been hoping to live a leisurely life, enjoy herself, and climb onto various strong thighs to win easily, but she was told that her family was in trouble?
Jiang Zhizhi sighed again. How good it would have been to live a life of ease, but now it was all shattered.
But life was like that, if you didn’t fight back, you would lose!
Good people deserved a good outcome!
Jiang Zhizhi’s heart surged with emotion. What an honor to be born in China again!
She couldn’t fall, she had to live well!
Since this was the starting point, she would do her best.
……..
“Xiang Sheng, is there really no other solution to this? Our daughter is only nineteen years old, how can I bear to see her suffer with us?”
Lin Ting had been sitting on the chair sorting through documents and books for over an hour, and her heart was increasingly uneasy.
Their eldest son, Jiang Wang, had been performing exceptionally well in another military district, having achieved great feats in several important missions. His superiors highly regarded such a promising young man. Plus, he rarely returned home, so the couple were sure that he wouldn’t be implicated this time.
But their youngest daughter was different! She was the apple of their eyes, the treasure they pampered!
Their daughter’s skin was delicate. Her father had sent her to the training ground to practice military boxing, saying that it was good for girls to learn how to protect themselves and that some self-defense skills would be useful.
But he had overestimated their daughter’s physical endurance. Even a light brush against her skin would cause redness, and she would come back looking miserable, making the couple feel heartbroken.
Jiang Xiang Sheng racked his brains, trying to cultivate their daughter’s practical skills. He would bring back some new gadgets for her to take apart, but she would end up ruining them!
He tried to teach her medicine, but she was a complete novice!
There were so many medical books on the bookshelf at home, surely she could manage?
She had learning materials, time, and a teacher to guide her, yet she always stopped at page seven of the book.
Lin Ting sighed softly. What window had heaven opened for her daughter?
However, it had to be said that their daughter was exceptionally beautiful, but in this environment, it wasn’t a good thing.
They had weathered storms and hardships together, and had endured immense pressure during academic exchanges abroad, learning advanced foreign experiences and facing dangers, bringing these valuable experiences back to their country.
This time was different. The couple comforted each other, saying that no matter how much hardship they faced, they could handle it.
But the only thing they couldn’t let go of was their children!
If their daughter was implicated… they, as parents, would be heartbroken, filled with sorrow and guilt.
Their own children were their own treasures, they had to protect Wangzai and Zhizhi no matter what.
Lin Ting rubbed her weary brow. With so many things happening at home, there were many people who wanted to take advantage of their misfortune, and countless people immediately distanced themselves.
The couple spent the night brainstorming two plans.
Plan one: Arrange a blind date for Zhizhi.
Today’s blind date was arranged through connections that Jiang Xiang Sheng had painstakingly made.
Jiang Xiang Sheng was always honest and straightforward. He had explained the situation to the other party first, and they had agreed to meet before making a decision.
The family’s surname was Qi, and they had five members.
The blind date candidate was named Qi Yu, a twenty-four-year-old battalion commander. His father and mother were both workers, and he had an older sister named Qi Miao, who was a vocalist in the art troupe.
Their family relationships were relatively simple. If their daughter got along with him, she could join the army after marriage.
Plan two: Pack Zhizhi and send her to Dajiang Village.
Dajiang Village was where Jiang Xiang Sheng was born and raised. His elder brother, Jiang Xiangliang, also lived there.
This was Jiang Xiang Sheng and Lin Ting’s last resort.
Jiang Xiang Sheng took the books from the bookshelf, gently stroking them with love. He hesitated for a moment, then sighed, “We can only take things one step at a time.”
“Zhizhi is my most precious daughter, Jiang Xiang Sheng. As her father, I’m definitely not willing to let her go, and I’m not at all at ease.”
“But Zhizhi’s current state seems very wrong. As parents, we don’t want to pass on our negative emotions to her, but we’re also afraid that if something happens to her, she won’t be able to handle the immense pressure and might think the wrong way.”
Jiang Xiang Sheng was always thinking that if his daughter met with danger, it would be his precious daughter who was in danger, wouldn’t it?
