Mr. Lu’s Flash Marriage Sweet Wife
Mr. Lu’s Flash Marriage Sweet Wife | Chapter 23

As soon as Su Mo entered the hospital building, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID show “Ye Jue,” the corners of her lips curved up, and a soft warmth spread through her eyes. Even if it wasn’t love, some friends could still be a deep comfort to the heart, like Ye Jue.

“Young Master Ye,” Su Mo answered the phone with a smile.

“Beautiful Su, what are you up to?”

“Nothing much, just keeping busy.”

“Keeping busy? Didn’t you have an important audition today? Didn’t go?”

“Oh, you remembered? I went, in fact. I went in the morning, and Director Yuan hired me right then, so I don’t need to go this afternoon.”

“Haha, our Su Mo is really something! Is it the role of the second female lead you’ve been eyeing?”

“Yes.”

“Well, well, that’s great! Should I throw you a celebration in a couple of days? I just finished a mission and took a few days off. I’ll be heading back to Beijing soon. I’ll take you to meet some of my good buddies. When I’m not around, you can turn to them if you need help with anything.”

“Oh…” Su Mo answered half-heartedly. If Ye Jue wanted to meet up, she wouldn’t turn him down. But if he wanted to introduce her to his friends, she wasn’t as enthusiastic.

She knew Ye Jue came from a prestigious family, one of the top families in Beijing, so his friends probably came from similar backgrounds. She and they were simply not from the same world. If the only reason to meet them was so that they could help her in the future, Su Mo didn’t see any need for it.

Perhaps hearing the lack of enthusiasm in her tone, Ye Jue chuckled, “Mo Mo, I know you have a lot of pride, but once you enter the entertainment industry, you’ll need a few people like them by your side. Otherwise, people might swallow you whole in a couple of days.”

“Some of my friends work in the entertainment industry, and with their protection, no one would dare touch you. Mo Mo, five years ago I couldn’t protect you, but I won’t let that happen again.”

Su Mo’s heart warmed. “Thank you, Young Master Ye.”

“Ha, no need to be so polite with me.”

“At least I should show some basic courtesy.”

“Alright, Mo Mo is the most polite. Let’s leave it at that. I’ll contact you once I’m back.”

“Mm.”

Su Mo thought it over and decided to find a part-time job.

Although Granny’s surgery fees were covered, there was still no money for the rehabilitation costs. She couldn’t just rely on the signing fee from Director Yuan.

The movie was still in the preparation stages, so it wasn’t clear when she would actually get paid. She needed to find something to do in the meantime.

She first left a message for a manager at the CV studio where she worked, then called Ye Lanshan.

“Mo Mo, what’s up?” The phone picked up, and Ye Lanshan’s lazy voice came through, clearly not fully awake.

Su Mo: “It’s already 2 PM, and you’re still asleep?”

Ye Lanshan: “Hehe, I was out partying last night, what’s up?”

Su Mo: “You mentioned your bar was hiring waitstaff, right?”

Ye Lanshan took a moment to process, then suddenly realized, “Mo Mo, are you thinking of going?”

Before Su Mo could answer, Ye Lanshan immediately refused, “No, no, you can’t go to that kind of place! That’s like a lamb walking into a wolf’s den. It’s a dangerous place.”

Su Mo: “Granny’s sick, and I need the money.”

“There are many ways to make money, Mo Mo. You don’t have to go there,” Ye Lanshan said. “How about this? Let me ask around and see if there’s any place you can do hourly work, or be a nanny. You’re good at English, so tutoring would be a good option. You can make quite a bit from it, and that kind of place isn’t for you.”

“Alright, thank you, Lanshan,” Su Mo replied after thinking it over.

Being a nanny or tutor would make less money than working at the bar, but that place was too rough for her, and she knew that.

Although Ye Lanshan was doing well there now, Su Mo had seen her struggles when she first stepped into that world.

Su Mo and Ye Lanshan had met two years ago when Granny’s son remarried. She had come back to China, and that’s when she and Wei Ke’er first went to Moonlight.

At that time, they met a much more inexperienced Ye Lanshan, who had been pressured by a man to drink. Wei Ke’er couldn’t stand it and stepped in to teach the man a lesson.

She remembered that Ye Lanshan had cried for a long time after that. Su Mo had thought that after that incident, she would leave that place, but when she returned, Ye Lanshan had become part of it. Whether that was good or bad, Su Mo didn’t know.

Shaking off her messy thoughts, Su Mo sighed and picked up the script Assistant Yuan Hongsheng had given her. The world was harsh, and who’s life was easier than another’s?

Perhaps behind every glamorous appearance, there were untold struggles.

The afternoon passed quickly. By around 5 PM, Su Mo put the script away.

“Granny, is there anything you want to eat? I’ll cook it for you and bring a few sets of clothes. I’ll stay with you tonight.”

The good thing about the VIP ward was the spacious room and a bed specifically for accompanying family members. After Granny’s surgery, Su Mo wasn’t comfortable with the caregiver.

“You don’t need to come back. The caregiver is with me. If I want anything, I can just have them buy it. You go rest, no need to keep running back and forth.”

Su Mo smiled. “What? Do you want red date millet porridge? Actually, I want some too. Wait, I’ll make some for you and also bring crab roe tofu, how about that?”

“You child, always like this!” Su Ailian glared at her, but Su Mo pretended not to see, grabbed her things, and spoke briefly to the caregiver before leaving.

As soon as she entered the elevator, a little boy came running out of another elevator.

“Uncle Zhong! Uncle Zhong! Hurry, my dad found the beautiful lady who saved me, we have to hurry!”

“Young Master, slow down!” Uncle Zhong quickly caught up with Lu Zining, trying to protect the little boy from bumping into anyone, but he was also confused. Hadn’t Mr. Lu found Miss Su already?

Why did he say he just found her now?

But, he dared not guess Mr. Lu’s thoughts, so he followed the young master.

Lu Zining ran straight to Room 1802, and just as he arrived at the door, Uncle Zhong called out, “Young Master, slow down. Let’s check on the old master and old madam first, and then we can find Miss Su later.”

“No, last time I was a step too late, and Auntie ran away. This time, I have to find her first. After I find her, then I’ll go see Grandpa and Grandma.”

As he spoke, Lu Zining had already arrived at the door of Room 1802.

He knocked a few times, and moments later, the door opened. His eyes lit up, but then immediately dimmed again.
