“Capturing the Little Sweetheart: The Wild Rogue Captain’s Overpowering Conquest” Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Do You… Want to Shower with Me?

When Song Zhiyi woke up in the morning, she sat on the large bed, staring blankly at her surroundings.

Her brain, sluggish like an old computer, slowly began to boot up.

Huh?

Hadn’t she fallen asleep on the couch last night? How did she end up on the bed?

Sleepwalking…?

Scratching her head, she decided to let it go. After all, her memories from yesterday weren’t exactly pleasant—especially of that old tyrant who, on his wife’s birthday of all days, made her stand at attention like a soldier!

“Not worth remembering,” she muttered to herself.

Having gone to bed without a shower the night before, her clothes were now wrinkled from sleep.

Carrying a fresh change of clothes, Song Zhiyi headed out.

The bathroom door was slightly ajar. Still drowsy, she yawned and, without much thought, pushed the door open.

A wave of warm mist greeted her.

Song Zhiyi: “???”

And then she saw it—a man standing in the mist, his well-built body covered in white foam, his short black hair dripping wet…

One hand rested on the faucet, as if about to rinse off.

Hearing the door open, Chen Mo paused, then turned his head. His gaze met Song Zhiyi’s, who stood at the bathroom door, clutching her clothes with a dazed expression.

Their eyes locked in the misty haze. Song Zhiyi’s gaze unconsciously followed a droplet of water sliding down Chen Mo’s chiseled jawline. The droplet continued downward, tracing along his Adam’s apple, slipping past his foam-covered chest, and lower still…

“Song Zhiyi.” Chen Mo’s voice broke the silence, calling her name just in time to halt her inappropriate line of sight.

“…Huh?” Song Zhiyi instinctively lifted her eyes to meet his.

Chen Mo brushed his wet bangs back, exposing his forehead with a mischievous air.

“Do you… want to shower with me?”

“?!”

A few seconds later, Song Zhiyi’s sluggish brain seemed to finally process his words. She hastily shook her head, waving her hands in panic.

“No, no, no! You go ahead, I’ll… I’ll wait!”

“Sorry for interrupting!”

With that, she slammed the bathroom door shut.

Her nervousness was evident—the force of her action made the doorknob rattle from the impact.

Chen Mo smirked faintly. Honestly, he wouldn’t have minded sharing the shower.

Thinking of her flustered expression just now, Chen Mo’s muscles tensed slightly. Turning the faucet to the cold water side, he let the icy stream rinse over him.

Sitting on the living room sofa, clutching her clothes, Song Zhiyi’s mind kept replaying the scene from earlier. The mist-shrouded naked figure, the foam-covered abs faintly visible beneath…

Song Zhiyi: ?(° /// °)?

If Chen Mo hadn’t called her name, she might’ve ended up seeing it all!

So much for playing it cool.

In the six months since marrying Chen Mo, their relationship had been polite and distant, like roommates rather than newlyweds.

But then again, Chen Mo was the captain of a criminal investigation team. His missions often kept him away for weeks at a time. Meanwhile, she had just started her internship.

In truth, they hadn’t spent much time together in those six months.

So…

It was understandable if he forgot her birthday.

Still, she couldn’t help feeling a tiny bit wronged.

“Song Zhiyi.” Chen Mo, freshly showered, emerged while drying his hair with a towel. He spotted her curled up on the sofa, her face slightly flushed, lost in thought.

“You can shower now.”

“Oh.” Song Zhiyi stood up and noticed Chen Mo putting on his jacket. “Are you heading to the station?”

It was barely seven in the morning.

“Yeah, I need to handle the guy we brought in last night.”

Feeling guilty, Song Zhiyi puffed out her cheeks slightly. “Sorry…”

She hadn’t meant to cause trouble. And it had ruined her birthday, too!

“That scumbag was bound to be caught sooner or later,” Chen Mo said, gently patting her head. “Even if it wasn’t for harassing you, he’d have targeted someone else.”

However…

“If you go after that little girl from his house, you’ll die even faster!”

“Breakfast is on the table. Eat before heading to work.”

“Okay.”

Song Zhiyi hugged his clothes and walked him to the door. “Be careful on your way.”

On the dining table, Song Zhiyi saw breakfast still steaming: a simple meal of mung bean porridge, a plate of dumplings, a tray of steamed buns, a glass of hot milk, and two large fried dough sticks.

She couldn’t possibly eat that much…

Chen Mo drove to the police station and changed into his uniform.

“Morning, Captain Chen!”

The young officer from last night immediately stood up straight upon seeing Chen Mo, saluting sharply.

“Sun Yang, I told you there’s no need to salute every time you see me.”

“No way!” Officer Sun Yang grinned sheepishly. “Captain Chen, you’re my idol!”

Chen Mo’s face remained stoic: “…”

“Stop watching all those silly short videos.”

Sun Yang: ?╭╮?

He hadn’t! It was genuine admiration!

As the captain of the city’s Criminal Investigation Division, Chen Mo was surrounded by numerous stories. He graduated top of his class from the military academy and had already participated in a major drug bust during his school years, dismantling an entire operation and earning second-class merit. After graduation, he was directly recruited by the central bureau, and in just four years, he became the team captain.

Though his name couldn’t be disclosed to the public, he was a legend at the academy, adored by countless fans.

Sun Yang was one of them!

“By the way, is that girl from last night okay? Was she scared to tears?” Sun Yang, knowing Captain Chen wasn’t one for jokes, changed the subject.

“No…” Chen Mo’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, his deep eyes fixed on Sun Yang. “Why are you so concerned about her?”

“Huh?” The air suddenly felt heavier. Sun Yang looked up to find Chen Mo staring at him.

How to describe it…

It felt like being a suspect under interrogation.

“No, no, no… I was just showing concern for a civilian, that’s all…” Sun Yang explained cautiously.

“Thanks for your concern,” Chen Mo replied lightly. “She’s married.”

Sun Yang: “???”

That girl looked like she was barely in her early twenties—already married?

Wait a second…

Why was Captain Chen emphasizing that?

It’s not like he had any feelings for her—at most, he just thought it was a bit of a pity.

Her husband must’ve saved the galaxy in his past life to marry such a stunning fairy, right?

“I mean, how could her husband let his wife go home alone so late at night?” Sun Yang muttered, feeling sorry for the “fairy.”

“…”

Chen Mo paused for a moment before changing the topic. “What about that guy from last night?”

“Oh,” Sun Yang straightened up at the mention of serious matters. “He caused a commotion in the middle of the night and refused a drug test.”

Someone who’d block a respectable woman’s way late at night couldn’t be a decent person.

Sun Yang suspected the man was under the influence of drugs and tried to take him for testing, but the man resisted fiercely, refusing to comply.

The more he resisted, the more suspicious it seemed!

Eventually, they forcibly took him for a blood test, which confirmed drug use. Combined with attempted harassment, the man was looking at at least three months of detention and a fine of 5,000 yuan.

“He’s in the interrogation room sleeping now. I’ll send him to the detention center soon!”

“Okay.”

Chen Mo responded, then headed toward the interrogation room.

“Captain Chen?” Sun Yang noticed him heading in the wrong direction. “Where are you going?”

Chen Mo didn’t stop, but a trace of hostility flickered across his face as he walked away.

“To check on the scum who bullied… an innocent girl.”

Sun Yang: “???”

But hadn’t you already seen him last night?
