Chapter 18 : Don’t Touch Her
In the office, Chen Mo was handling information regarding the suspect.
After thorough investigation, the final list of suspects had been narrowed down to four, and the next step was to search for evidence.
“Team Chen, why haven’t you finished work on time today?” Sun Yang, holding a small bread roll, placed it on Chen Mo’s desk. “Here, it’s from the ‘Queen of Flowers’ .”
‘Queen of Flowers’ was the most attractive female officer in their department. However, due to her tough personality, the single men in the department were intimidated and dared not approach her.
She was a flower that could only be admired from a distance!
“Almost done,” Chen Mo glanced at the clock on the wall; it was 8:40 PM.
“You’ve been working all day without dinner; you should eat something.” Sun Yang cautiously pushed the bread roll toward him. “It’s really good.”
Just as Chen Mo was about to reply, his phone on the desk suddenly vibrated.
He picked it up to check; it was a call from Song Zhiyi.
A faint smile appeared on his lips. She was calling before 9 PM—was she thinking of him?
Sun Yang: “…”
Oh my god!
The captain actually had that expression?
Could it be that someone’s soul has switched into him?
“Hello?” Chen Mo answered the call, but there was no response from the other end.
“Hello?” Chen Mo furrowed his brows.
“……”
Chen Mo kept the call open. Thirty seconds later, he suddenly stood up and quickly walked out.
“Eh? Team Chen?” Sun Yang was confused. What’s going on? Why did he suddenly leave?
“Out on duty,” came Chen Mo’s voice carried by the wind.
“Got it!”
Upon hearing these words, Sun Yang reflexively followed him, as if he’d just heard the call for food.
Chen Mo immediately drove away in a police car. Sun Yang, still behind him, shouted, “Hey, I haven’t even gotten in the car yet, Captain!”
The siren blared as the police car sped away.
“What’s happening…” Sun Yang gritted his teeth, quickly pulling two junior officers into the car to follow Chen Mo.
Once in the car, Chen Mo switched to a Bluetooth headset.
He could hear music playing on the other side, likely from a KTV.
Earlier, he tried speaking, but since Song Zhiyi hadn’t responded, it seemed like she was in a situation where she couldn’t talk freely.
“Mr. Chi, I don’t know you well…” Song Zhiyi’s voice came through the Bluetooth.
Her voice wasn’t loud, but even with the surrounding noise, Chen Mo immediately recognized it.
Mr. Chi…
Chi Lin?
Chen Mo remembered that she had mentioned seeing him outside the apartment they rented last week.
After Song Zhiyi spoke, a man’s crude voice could be heard on the other end, making suggestive comments.
“……”
Indeed, it was Chi Lin’s voice.
And he was shamelessly eyeing his woman!
“I’m out having fun with friends tonight…”
Chen Mo’s sharp ears caught the key part of Song Zhiyi’s words. She was giving him a location.
He took a sudden turn at an intersection, changing lanes and heading the other direction. Sun Yang, following behind, was left in shock at the abrupt maneuver.
“Damn, what is the captain doing?”
“This driving is insane… It’s terrifying!”
With no choice, Sun Yang turned on the siren and struggled to keep up with Chen Mo.
When Song Zhiyi’s phone was detected, Chen Mo heard Chi Lin’s infuriating voice: “Your girlfriend belongs to me tonight. I’ll give you a report tomorrow, and we can trade…”
Before Chi Lin could finish, the call was abruptly ended. Chen Mo tried calling back, but the phone was turned off.
“Damn…”
He was seething with anger!
Chen Mo gripped the steering wheel tightly, his deep eyes flashing with fury. He floored the gas pedal, running two red lights.
Ten minutes later, Chen Mo arrived at the “Night Song” KTV, where he happened to spot Lin Qiqi pacing back and forth outside. Chen Mo recognized her as Song Zhiyi’s colleague.
“Miss Lin.” Chen Mo called out to her.
“?” Lin Qiqi, who was persistently calling Song Zhiyi, turned around when she heard someone address her. Seeing him in his black police uniform, she instantly straightened up. “Ah, hello.”
Perhaps it was instinctive respect, but when Lin Qiqi saw his police uniform, she couldn’t help feeling guilty.
How could she not feel guilty?
She had lost someone’s girlfriend…
“Where is Song Zhiyi?”
“I’m looking for her too… She said she went to borrow a power bank, and then she disappeared.” Lin Qiqi was extremely anxious. Nowadays, when a person’s phone is lost, the anxiety of not being able to contact them is overwhelming.
“She’s still inside.” Chen Mo replied.
“Really?”
How did he know?
Was it some kind of telepathic connection between them?
“Your private room,” Chen Mo suddenly asked. “Where’s room 625?”
“Ah… I’ll take you there.”
The girl had mentioned earlier that room 625 was at the end of the corridor to the right after leaving Chi Lin’s room.
Inside the private room, Song Zhiyi was being pinned down on the couch by Chi Lin, surrounded by men and women who, despite being witnesses, did nothing to help her.
In this KTV, Chi Lin was the boss.
The men were eager for Chi Lin to finish with her so they could take their turn, and the women were merely playthings of the big shots—none of them had the right to intervene.
“I suggest you behave, or it will hurt a lot,” Chi Lin said as he reached for her strap.
This woman was far superior to his last girlfriend, in both appearance and figure, and even her hands were much more delicate.
Before he collected those hands, he wanted to enjoy them a little longer!
“…What if I don’t?” Song Zhiyi stubbornly stared at him.
“What’s the matter? You don’t really think you can keep yourself for your boyfriend like…”
Song Zhiyi suddenly raised her knee, driving it into his crotch.
“Ah—”
Chi Lin’s face turned pale from the sharp pain, gasping for air while clutching his injured area.
“You f***ing…!”
Song Zhiyi immediately flipped over and dashed off the sofa.
“Grab her, hurry up!” Chi Lin was in agony, his vision blurry as he shakily pointed at Song Zhiyi.
The fat man sitting nearby saw her trying to escape. Even without Chi Lin’s order, he couldn’t let this stunning beauty get away, so he quickly took two steps forward and grabbed her ponytail, yanking her back.
“Ugh…” Song Zhiyi’s scalp tightened, forcing her head back as a frown formed from the pain.
“Oh~ this little beauty smells so nice.” The fat man got closer, able to smell her light fragrance.
Chi Lin, recovering from the searing pain, felt his anger rise.
“Hold her down. I’m going to cut off her hands right now!”
“Ah, isn’t that a bit too much?” The fat man hesitated. “Why not let us have some fun first before you cut her up? Just like the last girl.”
Cutting off the little beauty’s hands would make things so much bloodier.
“…” Song Zhiyi touched the recorder hidden under her chest. This was the one thing they couldn’t find.
“Strip her now!” Chi Lin ordered, his legs trembling as he leaned on the table to walk over. He was in so much pain from the knee to the groin that he couldn’t stand properly.
Unable to bear it any longer, he slapped Song Zhiyi hard.
“Damn it, looks like I won’t get to enjoy this today.”
But he wasn’t going to let that little b**** get away with it!
“Alright, alright.” The fat man chuckled, reaching for Song Zhiyi’s clothes.
Suddenly, several screams echoed from outside the private room, followed by the door being slammed open. A boy fell to the ground, twitching a couple of times before going motionless.
Everyone: ???
Chi Lin’s 888 private room was easy to find, and as the whole row was visible, only this room had two or three lackeys standing guard outside.
Chen Mo didn’t even give them a chance to speak. He knocked them out with two punches, then kicked the one blocking the door into the room.
“Who… who’s there?”
Chen Mo stepped over the fallen lackey and walked in, a menacing aura surrounding him.
“Let her go.” Chen Mo drew his handgun, pointing it at the fat man still clutching Song Zhiyi’s hair.
“No, no, don’t shoot! Officer, please don’t shoot!” The fat man quickly released her, raising his hands in surrender.
“Come here.”
Chen Mo looked at Song Zhiyi and lowered his voice to avoid scaring her.
Song Zhiyi quickly walked toward him.
“Zhiyi!” Lin Qiqi, seeing Song Zhiyi in a somewhat disheveled state, her eyes reddened with concern, “Are you alright? What happened?”
Chen Mo, standing tall and blocking the door, kept Lin Qiqi from seeing the full scene inside.
“I’m fine,” Song Zhiyi shook her head.
She knew that when she called Chen Mo, he would come.
So, she wasn’t afraid.
Just as Song Zhiyi was walking out, Chen Mo suddenly stepped forward.
He punched Chi Lin right in the nose.
Blood immediately spurted across Chi Lin’s face.
“You…” Chi Lin felt like his nose had broken.
Chen Mo slammed him to the floor, pressing the heel of his shoe onto Chi Lin’s hand.
“Was this the hand that touched her?”
“Ah!” Chi Lin screamed, his fingers stuck, unable to pull out. He kept punching Chen Mo’s leg with his other hand, “Do you know who my father is? The Chi family… you can’t mess with us!”
“Heh.” Chen Mo stepped on his chest, “The Chi family? In front of me, it’s nothing.”
Chi Lin: (°Д°)
Dare to ask, who is this guy?
“Team Chen!” Sun Yang and others, who had heard the gunshot and rushed over, arrived just in time. As soon as they entered, they saw two girls standing by the door, one of whom was the girl with the torn shirt that Sun Yang recognized.
“What the hell…” Sun Yang saw her state and immediately understood what had happened, “Damn it!”
Bullying girls? What kind of man does that?
Sun Yang rushed into the room and saw everyone trembling in fear, crouching on the ground, while Chen Mo, stepping on a man, looked like a murderous demon from hell.
“Team Chen,” Sun Yang hurried to pull Chen Mo away, “You’re going to kill him!”
“He won’t die.” Chen Mo’s voice was cold, “Dying would be too good for him.”
Sun Yang: “…”
“Take them away,” Sun Yang ordered the other officers.
“Yes!”
Soon, everyone in the room was handcuffed, and Chi Lin, nearly beaten into a pulp, was dragged away.
Chen Mo scanned the room, picked up Song Zhiyi’s bag from the floor, brushed off the dust, and carried it with him.
Outside, Song Zhiyi called out to Sun Yang, “Officer Sun…”
“Hey, Xiao Song, don’t worry, we’ll get justice for you!” Sun Yang promised her seriously.
“We also need to get justice for the victim,” Song Zhiyi handed him a recorder.
“Hm?” Sun Yang took the still-warm recorder, confused. “What’s this?”
“Testimony.”
