Chapter 24.1 Xie Hezhang’s Rare Flight
Everything was moved in.
The onlookers gradually dispersed.
Xie Xiaoqian looked up at Shu Qingyao and asked with starry eyes, “Sister Yao Yao, are you going to live with us from now on?”
Shu Qingyao smiled and pinched her little cheek. Xie Xiaoqian had gained a few pounds because of the good food these days. Her originally thin and sallow face now felt quite nice to pinch.
“Yes, I won’t have to rush so far to pick up Xiaoqian for class every morning.”
“That’s great!”
Both big and small were beaming.
Only Xie Hezhang stood in the house in silence.
Shu Qingyao walked into the house, stretched, and said to Xie Hezhang, “I’m so hungry, Xie Hezhang. Have you guys eaten?”
Xie Xiaoqian said, “We’ve eaten.”
Xie Xiaoqian had been staying at Xie Hezhang’s friend’s house these days. His friend’s parents were kind. Seeing that Xie Hezhang was going to pick up Xie Xiaoqian tonight, they specially kept them for dinner.
Xie Hezhang, who had been silent all along, finally spoke. His youthful voice was hoarse and low, “…What do you want to eat?”
“Noodles,” Shu Qingyao said, “I still have a few kilograms of flour left.”
“Wait a minute.”
After saying that, Xie Hezhang walked towards the kitchen.
The kitchen had naturally been emptied by Xie Helan. Pots, pans, and bowls, nothing was left for him.
Looking at the empty kitchen, Xie Hezhang walked out and said to Shu Qingyao, “There’s no pot to cook with at home.”
Shu Qingyao then remembered that the Wang family had directly taken everything from Xie Hezhang’s house. Not only was there no iron pot for cooking, but even a pair of chopsticks couldn’t be found.
It was okay to skip a meal. She had some snacks in her small bag to fill her stomach. Shu Qingyao quickly said, “Then forget it, I won’t eat, Xie…”
Before she could finish, Shu Qingyao saw Xie Hezhang turn and walk out.
Looking at Xie Hezhang’s tall and straight figure, Shu Qingyao lightly clicked her tongue. This guy, wouldn’t he be angry?
To be honest, Shu Qingyao wasn’t sure if she would make Xie Hezhang angry.
In the morning, Xie Hezhang sent her back to the dormitory. No matter how much she begged him, he wouldn’t take her to find a carpenter.
She even lied and said that she was bullied in the dormitory, but Xie Hezhang didn’t budge.
He was truly as hard as a rock!
If Xie Hezhang hadn’t rejected her like that, she wouldn’t have had to do this.
Seeing Xie Hezhang disappear into the courtyard, Shu Qingyao asked Xie Xiaoqian nervously, “Xiaoqian, do you think your brother is angry?”
Xie Xiaoqian blinked her eyes, “Why would he be angry? Sister is coming to live with us, brother is very happy.”
“…Well.” Hopefully so.
…
Xie Hezhang went to a neighbor’s house and borrowed a bowl of mixed grain porridge.
He handed it to Shu Qingyao and then asked her, “Are you staying in the master bedroom?”
Shu Qingyao took the bowl and nodded.
Xie Hezhang responded and silently began to drag Shu Qingyao’s two small suitcases into the master bedroom.
Then he quickly lifted the cotton quilt and stuffed it into the wardrobe in the master bedroom.
After finishing all this, he walked out and said to Shu Qingyao, “Is there anything else you need to pack? I’ll help you organize it all at once.”
Shu Qingyao held the bowl, her black and white deer eyes looking at Xie Hezhang.
“You’re not angry with me?”
Xie Hezhang was silent for a few seconds, “Angry.”
“…Oh.” She knew it.
She pouted and said, “You just know how to be angry. You don’t even know how those people in the dormitory talked about me and bullied me when I went back!”
Xie Hezhang paused, his eyes looking at her suspiciously. Shu Qingyao saw him looking over and immediately bit her lip, lowering her eyes, showing a pitiful expression.
“Don’t you think I’m lying when I say that people in the dormitory are ostracizing and bullying me?”
Xie Hezhang: “…”
He did think Shu Qingyao was lying.
Shu Qingyao told Xie Hezhang what she had heard from Ruan Wenhui at noon, adding fuel to the fire.
“Although I didn’t let your cousin succeed, the whole Helian Village knows about it. When I went back, the people in the dormitory didn’t want to talk to me, they didn’t want to sleep next to me. They thought I was dirty and called me a slut!”
The last two words made the tendons on Xie Hezhang’s back tense.
He suddenly looked up at Shu Qingyao, his eyes dark and he asked, “Which educated youth said that?!”
This gloomy look scared Shu Qingyao. It was as if she would be killed by Xie Hezhang if she said the name.
A sweet feeling flowed through Shu Qingyao’s heart. She knew Xie Hezhang couldn’t bear to see her wronged.
So she quickly comforted him, “It doesn’t matter who said it. Don’t worry about it. Anyway, I’ve moved out now. Let them all cram together. I’m living with you, and it’s hard to meet them in the future. Let’s live a good life.”
Xie Hezhang’s face was still gloomy, he didn’t say anything. His long eyelashes drooped, covering his thick and black eyes. This unrestrained fierce look was the first time Shu Qingyao had seen it.
She had never believed that her husband, who was as good-tempered as a golden retriever, could stab someone with a knife.
But looking at Xie Hezhang, who was young and vigorous and hadn’t learned to hide his emotions, Shu Qingyao knew—the man she liked had never been a good boy.
He was just pretending to be a little lamb in front of her.
But having said that, Shu Qingyao didn’t want Xie Hezhang to get into trouble for her.
She had finally rescued Xie Xiaoqian, gotten rid of the Wang family, and changed Xie Hezhang’s fate. She didn’t want everything to be ruined because of a few words from her.
She walked over to Xie Hezhang and said, “Xie Hezhang, I have two blankets. Do you like the one with the red peonies or the one with the phoenix?”
Xie Hezhang was still lost in thought. When he looked up, he met Shu Qingyao’s smiling eyes and subconsciously said, “Either one…”
Shu Qingyao said happily, “Then the one with the red peonies. It’s festive.” Then she said to Xie Xiaoqian, “Xiaoqian, I’ve made your bed too. Do you want to go in and take a look?”
Before Xie Xiaoqian could speak, she was interrupted by Xie Hezhang.
