Marriage Chronicles Chapter 14: Accompany You (Part 2)

The next morning at 7 a.m., Yu Xi was woken up by the alarm. Seeing that Shen Shu was already gone, she hurriedly got dressed.

By the time she finished freshening up, Shen Shu was already dressed and sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper, clearly waiting for her.

“Ready?” he asked with a smile as he put down the paper.

She nodded shyly.

“Then let’s go,” Shen Shu stood up.

The wedding photoshoot was scheduled as a travel shoot, with a two-day itinerary around Central on Hong Kong Island. For the lengthy trip, Shen Shu had arranged a private plane.

At the airport, Yu Xi immediately spotted the Gulfstream G650 parked on the VIP runway through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

This was one of the most popular luxury jets in China’s wealthy circles. With its full amenities, superior performance, and exceptional safety, it far exceeded other models on the market.

Of course, the price was also incredibly high.

Yu Xi had hardly flown at all, let alone on such a luxurious private jet.

The last time she flew was four years ago, with that person… Thinking about him, her eyes darkened, and a mix of emotions swirled in her heart.

Fortunately, she quickly composed herself.

“Let’s go,” Shen Shu extended his hand to her.

She hesitated for a moment before placing her hand in his. His large, warm palm enveloped her hand entirely, sending a wave of warmth that chased away the coldness of Beijing’s early winter air.

The crew had been on standby and quickly began preparations as soon as they saw Shen Shu.

Yu Xi was a little afraid of heights. As she climbed up the ladder, her steps felt unsteady.

Shen Shu stopped and extended his hand to her again. “Hold my hand.”

Yu Xi looked up at him, her eyelashes fluttering slightly.

Shen Shu couldn’t help but smile, maintaining his hand extended. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you fall, my wife.”

Yu Xi was unexpectedly flustered by his teasing laugh and blushed before placing her hand in his.

Shen Shu naturally exuded a sense of security. One step at a time, he led her up. When they reached the top, he bent down and effortlessly lifted her into his arms.

Yu Xi almost cried out in surprise but was quickly held in his embrace.

He lowered his head, his chin resting on her warm forehead. In her blushing gaze, he kissed her earlobe. “What are you afraid of? I told you I’d hold on to you, and I will.”

Feeling the gazes around her, Yu Xi’s face turned even redder.

Shen Shu stopped teasing her and set her down. He then asked Wei Ling to bring him his laptop and led her to the lounge area.

Shen Shu often traveled, and the business jet was typically used for domestic and international trips for various business meetings. The crew had been with him for many years.

Xie Pu had arranged everything for the trip early that morning and ensured everything was taken care of.

He was Shen Shu’s trusted butler, managing domestic affairs and highly reliable.

Shen Shu took off his coat and loosened his tie, comfortably sitting down on the sofa.

The half-circle brown leather sofa was paired with an inlaid coffee table that held a fruit plate, which the flight attendants had just brought over after cutting the fruit.

Shen Shu opened his laptop with one hand, preparing for a meeting, while asking her, “Would you like something to drink? Coffee? Or maybe milk or orange juice?”

The attendant, standing nearby, quickly turned slightly and humbly bent her head, smiling, ready to listen to Yu Xi’s request.

Yu Xi felt awkward and, seeing the attendant’s gaze, blushed slightly.

Shen Shu glanced up and frowned, saying to the attendant, “Don’t stand so close to her. You’re scaring her.”

The attendant froze for a moment, not fully understanding, but quickly lowered her head and nodded.

Shen Shu turned back to Yu Xi, asking again, “Coffee? I noticed you don’t seem to like milk.” Normally, he always prepared milk for her, but now he thought that at her age, drinking milk all the time might seem strange.

Yu Xi nodded, signaling that she had no objections.

In fact, she just wanted to get out of the awkward situation as quickly as possible.

The attendant quickly went to make a fresh cup of coffee for her, a latte with a one-to-one ratio of espresso to milk.

Shen Shu ordered an Americano for himself.

Yu Xi took a sip from her cup, but her gaze couldn’t help but fall on the person across from her.

Shen Shu was in a video conference. His cup of coffee sat untouched beside him.

He sat with his legs crossed, his expression stern to the point of coldness. His speech was direct and to the point. “Are you out of your mind? This project was something we set our sights on from the beginning. Even though Tongrui is poorly managed, their tech projects are innovative, and their patents hold great commercial value. I haven’t made an offer yet because I wanted to pressure Zhao Hong. But you guys? You let the duck fly away! Incredible! I might as well work for you guys…”

Shen Shu was a native of Beijing, and when he was angry, his speech naturally carried a hint of a Beijing accent. His tone was lazy, but Yu Xi could tell from his expression that he was in a very bad mood.

She didn’t dare interrupt him and tried to shrink her presence, quietly sipping her coffee.

He was probably really angry, not moving at all. The coffee was getting cold, so Yu Xi quietly reached out and nudged the cup closer to him.

Shen Shu Wei paused for a moment and looked up at her. His face, which had been cold and stern, softened just slightly.

Yu Xi smiled at her and typed: [The coffee is getting cold. Don’t be so angry, be careful you might get sick from it.]

She was serious, and Shen Shu couldn’t help but chuckle.

The senior executives on the other end of the video conference were frozen, unsure if they were seeing things.

One of them hesitantly spoke up: “Chairman Shen…”

“Continue,” Shen Shu’s expression had already returned to its usual seriousness, no trace of warmth left. “Tell me, how do you plan to resolve this?”

The person being addressed sighed inwardly, wishing he hadn’t been the one to speak up.

But at the same time, he was confused. Shen Shu was known for separating his personal and professional life, and he never brought women to meetings.

Indeed, the others had also sensed it. Whoever was with Shen Shu right now must be a woman.

The way his expression shifted just now was too obvious.

It was as if he was trying to prevent someone from being scared.

It was a rare thing.

After that, Yu Xi quietly sat on the sofa, keeping herself busy and not daring to disturb Shen Shu. Occasionally, she glanced around at the cabin’s interior decoration.

There was a restaurant, a bathroom, and a gym area… Everything one could need. The soft and hard furnishings were all exquisitely done, using the finest materials. Even the plane’s paint was a special reworked finish.

It showed Shen Shu’s high standards and aesthetic taste.

However, despite the luxury, the place felt cold. The colors were mostly in cool shades like light gray and off-white, simple and minimalist.

It might have been because this was a business jet.

Yu Xi thought to herself, puffing up her cheeks, and then looked back at Shen Shu.

Shen Shu had a tall and straight nose, and his facial features were very defined. When working, his brows would occasionally dip, and his long, thick eyelashes would hide the deep light in his eyes as if he was lost in thought, adding to his cold and distant aura.

Just as Yu Xi thought she had been caught staring, Shen Shu seemed to sense it. He quickly lifted his head.

Their eyes met, and it felt like she had been caught sneaking a peek. She quickly lowered her head, feeling embarrassed.

She was so annoyed with herself. Of all times, she had been caught.

Shen Shu, however, couldn’t help but smile.

The meeting went on for a long time, so long that Yu Xi got so tired she eventually fell asleep on the sofa.

More than two hours passed, and the plane was nearing its destination.

Shen Shu closed his laptop and rubbed his sore forehead.

Xie Pu noticed this and started to approach to tap Yu Xi’s shoulder, but saw Shen Shu give a signal. He froze and quickly backed off.

The carpeted floor made Shen Shu instinctively lighten his footsteps as he walked toward Yu Xi.

Yu Xi was deep in sleep, not noticing his approach. Her eyes were closed, and she had a blanket he had asked the flight attendant to bring draped over her shoulder.

Shen Shu smiled quietly to himself and gently lifted her into his arms.

She only hummed in her sleep and shifted to a more comfortable position, continuing to rest in his embrace.

Seeing her like this made Shen Shu think she wouldn’t even notice if he sold her off.

His mood seemed to lift, as if a cloud had been cleared away, and the frustration from the meeting had lessened.

He moved quietly, not even putting on his coat as he carried Yu Xi out. Xie Pu quickly took the coat from the flight attendant and draped it over Shen Shu.

They headed to the hotel where they were staying.

As they neared the hotel, Yu Xi finally stirred and opened her blurry eyes, only to find herself nestled in Shen Shu’s arms, one hand resting on his shoulder like a person clinging to a piece of driftwood in the water—affectionate and intimate.

When she met his eyes, which were filled with a smile, her face flushed, and she quickly pulled her hand back.

“You’re too tired today. Let’s rest tonight, and we’ll go take pictures tomorrow,” Shen Shu said.

She nodded obediently, trusting him completely.

Shen Shu was always organized, and his arrangements were always the best.

As usual, he worked for a while that night. Yu Xi lay on the sofa, scrolling through her phone, occasionally sneaking glances at him.

Spending so much time with him, sometimes Yu Xi felt like she was too much of a “couch potato.”

Although she did her work well, she felt a bit aimless—just taking her fixed salary and doing repetitive tasks every day.

Her life had always been about being content with having enough food and warmth, following the principle of “enough is enough.”

But when she saw Shen Shu working diligently while she was scrolling on her phone, she felt somewhat uncomfortable by the contrast.

Jiang Chuyi: [What are you doing, baby?]

Yu Xi was snapped out of her thoughts by her phone vibrating. She quickly typed back: [Went for a travel shoot, taking wedding photos.]

Jiang Chuyi: [Send me two pictures once you’re done.]

Yu Xi: [Okay.]

Soon, Jiang Chuyi asked her to play a game with her. Yu Xi couldn’t resist and agreed.

She lay on the sofa playing two rounds, both of which she lost.

Jiang Chuyi wasn’t happy and went to find two game boosters. She secretly messaged Yu Xi: [They’re all handsome. I’ve video chatted with them, and tthey are college students from a sports school, and they have eight-pack abs.]

Yu Xi: […Be serious.]

Jiang Chuyi: [What do you mean I’m not serious? Just enjoy it, baby.]

Yu Xi: […]

Jiang Chuyi didn’t just pick two boosters, she also selected two handsome young guys with sweet voices, skilled at flirting.

Jiang Chuyi engaged in flirtatious banter with them, and Yu Xi, standing off to the side, felt incredibly awkward and wanted to run away.

But Jiang Chuyi threatened her, saying if she left, they would break up.

Yu Xi wasn’t good at rejecting others, and she certainly didn’t want to leave without saying anything, so she stuck around.

At first, no one paid attention to her, but then one of the young men with a cute voice asked, Why is this sister not talking? So cold?”

Jiang Chuyi answered, “For special reasons, she can’t turn on the microphone. Why, can’t I satisfy you all by myself?”

Yu Xi really wanted to leave, but she was clumsy and got “killed” in the game.

The guy who had spoken earlier took revenge for her, and somehow, after she logged off, he added her on WeChat. Yu Xi asked Jiang Chuyi what to do.

Jiang Chuyi: [Don’t mind it. He’s just a young boy. The more you reject him, the more interested he’ll get, but he’ll lose patience quickly.]

Yu Xi: [If he adds me, and I ignore him, won’t that be rude?]

At that moment, Shen Shu’s voice came from behind her: “Who’s trying to add you on WeChat?”

He was already bending over and took the phone from her hand.

Yu Xi quickly sat up straight, feeling extremely embarrassed. She couldn’t help but feel like she was caught cheating by her husband.

She quickly shook her head and wrote on a note: [Just joking, it’s a little boy.]

[We only played two rounds of a game, not familiar at all.]

But then she felt this explanation was unclear and awkward, and nervously glanced at him.

Shen Shu, on the other hand, smiled. He didn’t look at it anymore and handed the phone back to her.

Yu Xi just relaxed when he suddenly leaned over, resting on her side, and looked down at her. “If any other guy adds you on WeChat in the future, you need to tell him you’re married. Got it?”

His gaze wasn’t overly forceful, almost coaxing, but there was an undeniable power that made it hard to resist.

Yu Xi nodded.

Being looked at like this by him, she felt really pitiful and nervous.

Only then did Shen Shu release her. “Go take a shower, get some rest, you need to wake up early tomorrow.”

She quickly got up and headed to the bathroom.

Just as she was about to close the door, she noticed Shen Shu was walking over, undoing his shirt buttons.

Yu Xi froze, unsure of what to do, watching him in confusion.

“To save time, let’s do it together.” He said this with a calm expression, but his words were shocking.
