Kuang Ye’s eyes lit up instantly, as brilliant as a starry sky. With a solemn and devout expression, he slipped the ring onto Mu Wan’s left middle finger. The wing-shaped ring she had been wearing was reluctantly moved to her ring finger instead.
Mu Wan broke into a teary smile. “Who proposes with two rings?”
Kuang Ye responded smoothly, “It shows my wholehearted devotion to you. Two rings, two ones—perfect unity!”
Mu Wan wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and pulled her kneeling lover to his feet.
“If you ever quit esports, you could write cheesy pick-up lines instead. You’ve got a whole arsenal ready!”
Standing, Kuang Ye leaned in close, their faces nearly touching. His warm breath brushed against Mu Wan’s ear as he teased,
“Fine, then I’ll write cheesy lines to make a living for you, my dear Jiejie.”
With a mischievous grin, he added,
“‘Jiejie is my heart, my liver, my precious little sweetheart~~~'”
The soft tickling sensation made Mu Wan’s ears tingle, and a rosy blush quickly spread across her face. She rolled her eyes at him.
“You’re so corny!”
Before she could say more, she found herself suddenly lifted off the ground. She let out a startled yelp and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Kuang Ye carried her in a princess hold toward the bedroom, his gaze dark and filled with meaning.
“Jiejie, I’ve been working overtime recently—not just to prepare the roses but to give my bedroom a little makeover.”
Mu Wan’s grip tightened slightly, her voice trembling.
“W-What kind of makeover?”
Kuang Ye opened the bedroom door. “Take a look and see.”
Mu Wan looked up and saw an entire bedroom transformed into a sea of flowers. Unlike the white lights in the living room, the bedroom glowed with warm yellow lighting. The centerpiece was a round bed covered in countless rose petals, casting an air of intimate allure throughout the room.
“Ah!”
Without warning, Kuang Ye tossed Mu Wan onto the bed—not gently, but with enough force that it felt like a playful throw.
Mu Wan instinctively shut her eyes, but her body landed on something incredibly soft and warm. The rose petals scattered into the air, spinning for a few seconds before falling like a blanket over her.
Curious, she ran her hand over the surface beneath her.
“It’s a waterbed?”
Not only that, but the water was temperature-controlled and pleasantly warm.
Kuang Ye gazed at her lying amidst the flower petals, her fair skin glowing and delicate features resembling an ethereal flower spirit born from the heart of a rose. He couldn’t tear his eyes away.
Stripping off his bothersome clothes, he climbed onto the bed, taking hold of her ankle to gently remove her shoes and socks, followed by her dress…
His kisses trailed upward from her calf, and soft, involuntary murmurs escaped his lips.
Mu Wan’s toes curled, her eyes misting over. She finally understood why Kuang Ye had insisted on showering at her office before picking her up.
“You smell so good, Jiejie~~”
Through gritted teeth, Mu Wan protested,
“With so many… ah! … flowers, couldn’t it be… ah!”
Kuang Ye silenced her with a kiss. When he finally pulled away, her flushed face and hazy eyes left him breathless. His voice, now hoarse, carried a deep hunger.
“It’s not the roses. It’s you, Jiejie—you smell divine.”
Sweat dripped from his body, some soaking into the dark green blanket, some landing on her porcelain skin.
The waterbed seemed almost magical, bouncing back with each press. As Mu Wan’s consciousness faded, Kuang Ye’s whispered words reached her ears.
“Jiejie, from now on, you’re my wife, aren’t you?”
“Can you call me ‘husband’?”
“…” I’ll call you something all right, you big idiot. And stop trying to unlock new tricks already!
—
Kuang Ye’s final verdict on the waterbed:
“Excellent. Absolutely perfect. Jiejie loves it!”
Mu Wan: “…”
She leaned back against the waterbed, exhaustion written all over her face. The gentle ripples beneath the blanket massaged her sore body, easing the aftereffects of their intense activity.
“So this is what you’ve been working overtime on lately? I really thought it was for your team!”
Kuang Ye beamed with pride. “Of course! I read online that waterbeds save energy and reduce back strain for women, so I decided to make it the setting for our first… uh… moment after marriage.”
Mu Wan: “First moment after marriage, my foot.”
She suddenly pinched Kuang Ye’s nose with a sly grin. “Did you also learn the ‘husband’ thing from the internet?”
Caught off guard, Kuang Ye’s eyes darted nervously, and his face showed a guilty expression. “No, that was just me wanting to hear it.”
Before Mu Wan could press further, he pounced on her like a cat, nuzzling against her neck and whining,
“You already agreed to marry me, so you’re my wife now. You can’t take it back!”
Since neither of them was wearing clothes, Mu Wan, afraid his nuzzling might ignite another spark, quickly pushed him away. She sighed in resignation.
“Fine, I won’t take it back. But it’s just a term of endearment. Did you really have to…”
Her voice trailed off as a blush spread across her cheeks again. Did you really have to get that excited?
She didn’t notice that as soon as she finished speaking, Kuang Ye’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and the atmosphere heated up again. Suppressing his growing desire, he whispered,
“Jiejie, say it one more time?”
Mu Wan looked up at him, exasperated.
“Husband?”
