Chapter 6: Relentless Desire
Ugly?
Tang Xin’s expression shifted slightly.
Although she didn’t like Yue Yuze, being called ugly by a man still stung.
She glared at him. “You’re the ugly one! You’re the real ugly one!”
She had never encountered such a venomous man before!
“You’re the most malicious man I’ve ever met!” she huffed, turning on her heel to stomp upstairs, completely disregarding the fact that he was a bigshot.
When a woman gets angry, she’s willing to offend even herself, let alone someone else.
On the sofa, Yue Yuze remained indifferent. His slender, elegant fingers picked up the newspaper he had just set down, continuing to read.
…Behind the cover of the newspaper, his handsome face stayed impassive, though the faint upward curve of his lips betrayed a hint of suppressed amusement.
After taking a shower, Tang Xin came downstairs to have dinner.
Tonight, the chef had prepared a seafood feast.
Tang Xin knew Yue Yuze loved seafood. She also liked it—so much so that when she wrote, she unconsciously gave one of her characters a fondness for seafood.
However, the original Tang Xin had preferred meat.
So, in addition to the seafood and vegetables on the table, there was a plate of braised ribs and another of sweet-and-sour pork, dishes Tang Xin used to favor and had asked the chef to prepare.
She figured that tonight, Yue Yuze must have informed the chef in advance that he would be home for dinner, which is why the seafood was prepared.
As for the meat, it must have been made for her.
But she liked seafood too.
The problem was, the original Tang Xin didn’t like seafood!
So now, if she showed too much enthusiasm for seafood, it might arouse suspicion.
Yet, the thought of having to sit there and pretend not to enjoy all this delicious seafood…
She glanced at Yue Yuze elegantly savoring his seafood and swallowed hard.
Now, to avoid raising suspicions, she could barely bring herself to eat.
If only she had written Tang Xin as someone who loved seafood back then…
Regret.
Deep regret.
Extreme regret!
The lobster meat looked so tender and delicious.
The crab roe smelled heavenly.
The mantis shrimp looked so appealing, fresh, and tender.
The grouper was plump and succulent.
She felt like she could never get tired of eating them… yet she had to pretend she didn’t care!
It was truly a tragedy.
Just as Tang Xin was staring longingly at the seafood, practically drooling, she heard the little voice of the system:
Ding! Daily task: Please engage in an interaction with the male lead before midnight tonight. Completion will grant one lottery spin with a random reward.
Tang Xin: ???
There are prizes?
She wasn’t particularly interested in the rewards, but the system did give her an idea!
She suddenly realized how she could “reasonably” indulge in this seafood feast!
“President Yue, is it good?”
Yue Yuze paused mid-peel of a crayfish, raising his eyes to look at the woman across from him. Her bright, eager eyes were exactly like when she had coveted his plate of pasta that morning!
“Why don’t you try it?” he said flatly.
“Sure!” Tang Xin quickly grabbed a pair of disposable gloves, but she immediately felt her eagerness might have been too obvious. She paused, glanced at Yue Yuze, and said, “I saw you enjoying it so much just now, and it made me crave some too. Besides… to share the same interests as you, I should eat more seafood!”
Yue Yuze, in the middle of eating a piece of crayfish, glanced up at her again after hearing this.
Tang Xin had already started digging in.
She was eating with great enthusiasm.
Delicious, absolutely delicious.
“Wow, I never ate much seafood before, so I didn’t realize how amazing it is. It’s like I’ve discovered a whole new culinary world!” she exclaimed between bites, silently giving herself a thumbs-up.
I’m so clever~~
Even I almost believe this lie I made up!
After a while, watching the woman across the table devouring seafood faster and more enthusiastically than himself, Yue Yuze raised an eyebrow slightly and turned to the servant. “Is there more seafood in the house?”
“I’m not sure, Young Master. I’ll ask Chef Liu,” the servant replied.
A few minutes later, a portly middle-aged man came over, bowing respectfully. “Young Master, did you call for me?”
“Do we have more seafood in the house?” Yue Yuze asked.
The chef replied, “Yes, we still have six pounds of crayfish, four crabs, and two bass.”
Yue Yuze looked at the woman engrossed in her meal. “Do you eat pickled fish?”
Huh??
Suddenly being asked a question by the bigshot, Tang Xin was slightly flustered. She looked up at him in a daze before nodding. “I do… I mean, if it’s good, I’ll eat more.”
Yue Yuze turned back to the chef. “Make the bass into pickled fish, and cook all the crayfish and crabs as well.”
“Yes, Young Master,” the chef said, sneaking a glance at the clearly ravenous Young Madam before leaving.
Tang Xin finally realized what was happening. Looking at the growing pile of discarded crayfish shells on her plate, her cheeks flushed red. She smacked her lips awkwardly and asked, “Did I… did I eat all your seafood?”
The chef usually prepared portions slightly larger than a single serving, but clearly, she had exceeded expectations.
Yue Yuze glanced at her and said flatly, “At least you’re self-aware.”
Tang Xin: … I was just being polite, but you really had to agree, huh?
How embarrassing.
She silently removed her gloves…
“Good thing there’s still plenty left for today. After finishing these, you can wait a bit before eating again,” Yue Yuze said casually, his gaze lingering on the woman as she removed her disposable gloves. He continued in an unhurried tone, “These gloves are quite thin. Replace them when they get dirty.”
Tang Xin: …I feel like I just saw a staircase leading me upward.
Quietly, she slipped on a fresh pair of disposable gloves and resumed her seafood feast.
In truth, she realized Yue Yuze had said that intentionally to ease her embarrassment.
So…
Maybe the male lead isn’t as unbearable as she thought.
From time to time, she would glance at him, smiling cheerfully.
Yue Yuze maintained his calm demeanor, but her occasional peeks, with those bright, dog-like eyes—large, luminous, as if filled with starlight—seemed to pierce right through to his heart.
This woman… she’s definitely still harboring ulterior motives toward him!
Author’s Note:
Tang Yun: I looked at the big boss with an expression full of gratitude.
Big boss: My wife gazed at me with eyes full of love… As I thought, she’s still coveting my perfect, irresistible body!
Yue Yuze: Tonight, I’ll wait in my room for this little temptress to come seduce me.
