Time-Traveling to the Seventies : My Troublemaker Husband is Full of Secrets Chapter 47

Chapter 47 : The sound of prying the door open at midnight

He felt that this girl didn’t know how to live.

She made omelettes yesterday morning with so much oil in them, and also fried meat and vegetables at noon and in the evening.

Uncle Du sighed. This young couple is more generous than each other. I wonder if the money Zhenyu earns is enough for them to spend.

“Uncle, I added sorghum flour to it. You guys do hard work, how can you just eat porridge?”

Seeing his distressed look, Su Xieqiu smiled and said, “Han Zhenyu bought a lot of food when he left, enough for us to eat.”

After all, Uncle Du came to help, so it was not appropriate for him to tell his nephew’s wife what to do, so he could only smile and give her instructions.

“Make less, and don’t make it so good. We eat corn porridge with pickles at home. We’re used to it.”

“I understand, uncle.” Su Xieqiu nodded with a smile, skillfully pinching the buns in her hands.

She packed about 30 of them in total, thinking about how Sun Dahan’s wife had helped boil water and lay bricks that day, and she was ready to repay the favor.

She greeted Grandpa Du, took four buns, and went to Sun Dahan’s house.

Grandpa Du said to his son and son-in-law, “Zhenyu’s wife is good. She is sensible and capable. The couple will have a good life in the future.”

Han Zhenyu’s uncle, Yan Guowei, smiled and nodded, “Dad is right. I also think this girl is good. She speaks openly and does things neatly, she is a good match for Zhenyu.”

His eldest son, Yan Daqiang, also said “My sister-in-law’s cooking is also delicious. The same dishes taste better than those cooked by my mother and my wife.”

“Zhenyu’s wife puts so much oil in the cooking and adds meat, so of course it tastes good.”

Uncle Du kicked him on the butt and scolded him with a smile, “Your mother always boiled it with water and at most added a little salt. It’s strange that it tastes good. It’s good enough that you don’t starve. You’re still picky. You really deserve to be punished.”

Yan Guowei and Yan Daqiang laughed out loud, and even Grandpa Du looked happy.

Yan Daqiang rubbed his butt and said unhappily, “Uncle, what are you doing? I’m already 25 and you’re still kicking my butt. If my daughter knew about this, she would definitely laugh at me.”

“You are still my nephew even if you’re 50 years old.” Uncle Du picked up the shovel and tapped him lightly, saying with a smile, “Hurry up and work, or I’ll beat you like when you were kids.”

Yan Daqiang was not afraid of him. He smiled and said, “If you dare to hit me, I’ll complain to my aunt and let her deal with you.”

Although they were chatting and laughing, it didn’t interfere with the work at hand.

“Is Sister Fengqin at home?” Su Xieqiu shouted outside the door.

“I’m here.” Sun Dahan’s wife opened the door and saw that it was Su Xieqiu. She said enthusiastically, “It’s Su Xieqiu. What’s the matter so early in the morning?”

Su Xieqiu handed the buns in her hand to her and said, “Sister-in-law, I made some vegetable buns this morning. Bring a few for the children to try.”

Sun Dahan’s wife quickly waved her hand to refuse, “Su Xieqiu, I can’t have it. Give it to your grandfather and his family.”

“Sister-in-law, we still have some at home. They’re just a few vegetable buns. They’re not worth much. Don’t refuse them.”

Su Xieqiu put the buns in her hands and said with a smile, “Sister-in-law, you and Brother Sun helped a lot when we were building the house. Han Zhenyu and I were not polite to you. You are pushing and shoving for just a few buns. It’s too polite. If you really don’t want to accept them, I won’t bother you again if I have anything in the future.”

Seeing that she had said so, Sun Dahan’s wife could only smile and take them, “Thank you, Su Xieqiu. We live close to each other. If you have any problems in the future, just let us know. Don’t be polite with us.”

“Okay, sister-in-law, I’ll go back first. I’ll come back to play with you after the house is built.”

After Su Xieqiu returned home, she picked out all the buns from the pot. Seeing that the corn porridge was ready, she brought over the washed bowls and began serving the porridge.

She didn’t cook any vegetables, just had a big bowl of pickled peppers.

“Grandpa, uncle, uncle-in-law, and two cousins, let’s eat first.”

“Okay, I got it,” Grandpa Du responded with a smile.

Yan Daqiang put down the shovel in his hand, ran over first, and asked with a smile, “Sister-in-law, what are we having for breakfast?”

“Vegetable buns, corn grits porridge.” Su Xieqiu smiled and pointed to the water beside her, “Brother, wash your hands and eat.”

“Okay.” Although Yan Daqiang was the first to run over, he waited for his grandfather, uncle, and father to come to the table before he and his second brother sat down.

After spending time together yesterday, Su Xieqiu had already figured out his temper. He was straightforward and not fussy about details. Although he speaks carelessly and sometimes sounds quite funny, he is very sensible, works hard, and is not annoying at all.

“Zhenyu’s wife, please sit here,” Grandpa Du said, making room for her.

Su Xieqiu didn’t hesitate and sat next to Grandpa Du with half a bowl of porridge.

These relatives are here to help them. If they still pretend to be polite, it would be embarrassing for others to sit here.

Su Xieqiu noticed they had eaten two buns each but didn’t take any more, so she smiled and said to them:

“Grandpa, uncle, great uncle, and two cousins, you can eat all these buns. They are filled with vegetables and vermicelli, which are not valuable. Don’t be stingy. We have enough food at home.”

Uncle Du glanced at her and sighed inwardly, this girl is really generous.

There are eggs, black fungus, and vermicelli in it, and so much oil. The buns in state-owned restaurants aren’t as greasy as hers.

Grandpa Du smiled and said to everyone, “Since Zhenyu’s wife made them, you should eat them. How can you have the energy to work if you’re not full?”

Yan Daqiang chuckled, “Sister-in-law, we won’t be polite then.”

“Brother, eat as much as you want. If it’s not enough, I’ll make pancakes for you,” Su Xieqiu said with a smile.

Before Yan Daqiang could speak, Uncle Du quickly said, “That’s enough. That’s enough. Why are you still making pancakes? You can’t finish them all.”

Su Xieqiu held back her laughter and nodded. Uncle Du must have thought that she didn’t know how to live, but he was too embarrassed to say it out loud.

After they finished their meal, workers came over one after another.

Grandpa Du and his companions had already made preparations, so today’s progress was faster than yesterday.

When the workers went home in the evening, the wall had been built to nearly two meters. At this rate, the main structure could be completed in five days.

In the evening, the young carpenter Han Shengwen came to measure the doors and windows, and Su Xieqiu shared her ideas with him.

The two of them discussed the furniture styles for a while, so Su Xieqiu returned a little late today.

She boiled a pot of water, washed up casually, and was about to close the door when Han Lei and Sun Dashu’s wife came to visit her.

The three of them each took a palm-leaf fan and sat at the door chatting about family matters.

Unexpectedly, they got along better and better, and in the end, they even forgot about time.

Eventually, Han Lei and Sun Dashu left, followed by Yu Xiuhua and Li Lanying, who returned with them.

Because she had to get up early the next day, after they left, Su Xieqiu closed the door and went to bed.

She didn’t know how much time had passed or what time it was, but Su Xieqiu was sleeping soundly when she was suddenly awakened by the sound of someone prying the door open.

When she heard the source of the noise, she was instantly startled and broke out in a cold sweat, her body becoming a little stiff.

She exhaled and slowly sat up, her eyes adjusting to the darkness.

Through the moonlight shining through the door, she saw a long object poking at the door.
