In the Wang Group’s office, Feng Jin appeared slightly worn out. Yet, as she faced the board of directors, her gaze was firm, exuding the aura of a resolute and powerful woman.
“I’ve called this emergency meeting primarily to share some unfortunate news,” she began, her voice hoarse and dry. After a brief pause, her eyes seemed to glisten with unshed tears. “Our President Wang was in a car accident while negotiating with a new grape supplier. He’s currently in the hospital, and the doctors say he may be bedridden for the rest of his life.”
Her words sent shockwaves through the room, igniting a flurry of murmurs and discussions among the shareholders.
“How could such a thing happen?”
“The Wang Group is already in turmoil, and now this? Truly, misfortunes never come singly.”
“Exactly. With President Wang incapacitated, who knows what lies ahead for the company?”
“This uncertainty about the future is deeply concerning.”
The shareholders were visibly anxious about the company’s prospects. However, Feng Jin remained composed and unyielding, sitting like a mountain amidst the storm. Stirring up their unease was precisely her intent—it was a crucial step in her next move. Once she deemed the moment ripe, she raised her hand to signal for silence.
When the room quieted, she addressed them again. “I fully understand everyone’s concerns. The reason I called this meeting was to involve all of you in discussing the future development of the Wang Group.”
“After all, the company’s growth and success depend on everyone’s collective effort and trust.” Her words were carefully chosen, giving everyone present a sense of respect and showcasing her decisiveness.
“I believe Vice President Feng is an excellent choice,” said one shareholder, strategically planted to voice support.
More and more voices began to echo this sentiment.
“Vice President Feng has previously served as President Wang’s secretary and has been deeply influenced by his decisiveness and efficiency. Not to mention, she’s also his wife. Entrusting her with the Wang Group should put everyone at ease.”
As the voices of approval grew louder, Feng Jin felt a surge of triumph internally. Yet, outwardly, she maintained a worried expression, appearing deeply concerned about the company’s future.
“I think letting Vice President Feng take over the company is a sound decision,” declared by a shareholder that was holding 10% of the company’s shares, effectively sealing the discussion.
Although Feng Jin was eager to assume the position, she put on an appearance of reluctance, portraying herself as someone taking on this burden only out of necessity. It was a calculated move to win the shareholders’ sympathy.
“Thank you all for your trust,” she said. “But—”
“Mom, stop hesitating. Since everyone recognizes your abilities, you should just give it your best shot,” interrupted Feng Ning.
“Exactly, that’s the spirit!” others chimed in.
At this point, Feng Jin bit her lip, stood up, and bowed deeply to everyone in the room. “Thank you. I promise not to let anyone down.”
Just as the meeting seemed to be drawing to a close, an unexpected voice rang out from the door.
“Hold on.”
“Xiao Ke, what are you doing here?” Feng Jin exclaimed in surprise, looking at the person who had just entered. It was none other than Wang Xiao Ke, who stood there with a confident smile, completely transformed, showing no trace of his former despondency.
“Isn’t this a shareholders’ meeting? I hold 20% of the company’s shares. Why wasn’t I informed?”
