Just as Su Man rushed out in a flurry, she collided head-on with someone coming from the opposite direction.
With a dull “thud,” the two of them bumped into each other unexpectedly.
What was more surprising was that not only did they collide, but they also both fell to the ground, rolling into a tangled mess.
After a dizzying spin, Su Man found herself lying uncontrollably on top of the other person. The close contact with a stranger—particularly a man—made her cheeks flush slightly as she felt his firm muscles and heard his heartbeat.
But in the next moment, an odd sensation on her lower body made her face turn from red to blue, then to a dark purple.
This scoundrel! He dared to take advantage of her! If she didn’t chop off his filthy hand, she wouldn’t be Su Man.
Summoning strength from who knows where, she scrambled up and shouted angrily, “Hey! Don’t you have eyes when you walk?”
Chu Cheng, caught off guard, had also fallen to the ground, his head hitting hard in the process. Dizzy and seeing stars, he looked at Su Man’s furious face without really understanding what she was saying. He just stared blankly at her mouth as it moved.
Clutching his aching head, he gasped in pain.
Oh, playing dumb now, huh? Su Man’s naturally fiery temper flared up even more at his expression. She roared, “You groped my butt, and now you’re pretending? You shameless pervert! Watch how I deal with you!”
She wasn’t done yet. Still enraged, she lunged at him with claws ready to strike.
“What’s wrong with you? Do you even listen to reason?” Chu Cheng, alarmed by her aggressiveness, protested loudly. He swore it had been an accident. His hand had only brushed that spot unintentionally, and the slight squeeze was a reflex. By the time he realized it, the damage was done.
Su Man’s eyes blazed with fury. To her, he was just another self-righteous scoundrel. “Caught red-handed, and you still dare to deny it?”
Chu Cheng, still holding the back of his head, pushed himself up and retorted with equal force, “You’re being unreasonable! You were the one who crashed into me first! I couldn’t dodge in time and ended up getting knocked over by you. How is this my fault?”
“You—!” Su Man was rendered speechless in anger.
At that moment, Wang Xiaoke arrived on the scene.
“Manman, what happened?” she asked, pulling the agitated Su Man aside.
When she turned around, she was met with a handsome and familiar face. “Chu… Senior Chu? Is that you?”
“Xiaoke, it really is you! I thought I was seeing things!” The man’s face lit up with joy.
“Didn’t you go abroad?” Wang Xiaoke asked.
She and Chu Cheng had attended the same university, though he was a year ahead of her. During her time at school, Chu Cheng had taken good care of her, and the two shared a close bond.
Chu Cheng, already good-looking, now stood there rubbing his head with a sunny smile, exuding an eye-catching charm.
“I just got back. Looks like I’m lucky—meeting you on my first day back.”
“Don’t try your sweet talk on me!” Su Man interjected sharply, her eyes full of suspicion. “Even if you know Xiaoke, that doesn’t excuse you from taking advantage of me earlier!”
“This beautiful lady, I swear it was all a misunderstanding. I was just trying to confirm if it was Xiaoke, and I accidentally bumped into you. It’s not what you think,” Chu Cheng defended himself, sounding genuinely aggrieved.
Su Man tilted her chin slightly. “Are you saying I’m not attractive enough to catch your attention?”
Insulting a woman’s attractiveness was no different from calling her ugly, and Chu Cheng wasn’t foolish enough to fall into that trap.
“That’s not what I meant,” he said, sizing her up briefly before adding, “You’re actually quite… charming.”
“See? I knew it! Your true colors are showing now!” Su Man snapped. She had suspected all along that he was no good.
But then, in a low and magnetic voice, he said, “But you’re not my type.”
“You—!” Su Man ground her teeth in fury.
