If someone had told Fang Yang a week ago that a person could single-handedly break into the Hongyun headquarters and easily steal the one-of-a-kind PIAGET watch, he would have shot them into the Pacific Ocean without a second thought.
Never mind the dozens of layers of security at Hongyun; he didn’t believe anyone could make this priceless item, something he had spent countless resources to obtain, disappear under his nose.
This watch was a gift he had given to Chen ge as a token of his succession.
So when the long, piercing alarm sound came through his infrared earphone, signaling the breach, Fang Yang was undoubtedly shocked.
“Yang Ge!”
Fang Yang waved his hand, and more than a dozen bodyguards in dark uniforms turned, rushing up the stairs with swift, synchronized movements. The sound of their boots echoed evenly in the quiet night. Fang Yang coldly ordered Liao Qiu, “Station guards at all elevator exits, cut the power to the top floor, lock the doors!”
Even if the person had taken the watch, they wouldn’t have gotten away in under a minute. There was no way they’d escape from Hongyun.
He let out a faint smile, the corners of his lips curving slightly. He hoped this thief would be more entertaining this time.
Fang Yang entered the study on the top floor, where a crowd of people was already gathered. He looked around and saw the secret door on the wall was wide open, revealing an empty room.
“So many people, and we can’t catch a small thief?” Fang Yang sneered coldly, flicking his fingers to take out a cigarette from his side pocket. Liao Qiu quickly lit it for him, and the spark disappeared in an instant. Fang Yang’s gaze was sharp, like a hawk’s.
Everyone shuddered involuntarily, lowering their heads in silence.
“Yang Ge, when they came up, there was no one in the room… They must have escaped.” Liao Qiu hesitated before speaking, but saw that Fang Yang’s expression didn’t change much. His heart sank. That blank look likely meant he was truly angry.
Fang Yang exhaled a breath, crushing the cigarette between his fingers. Slowly, he scanned his subordinates, his voice cold as ice. “Escaped? Great… Now this place has become a free-for-all! All this security, and it’s useless?!”
A deadly silence followed. Everyone silently cursed the thief’s ancestors.
Liao Qiu had been with him for many years, and at this moment, he carefully said, “This person must have entered secretly. The security didn’t notice anything—this could be the work of someone from that old man’s side, someone targeting you.”
Fang Yang was silent for a moment, then sneered. With a wave of his hand, he gave a firm order, “They probably haven’t gone far. Get out there and chase them down, dead or alive. The watch must be returned!”
The crowd responded in unison. At this moment, they all knew how far they could retreat—who didn’t know that this was the watch their boss had given to Chen ge? Losing it would mean a huge mess!
Just as everyone was heading toward the door, Fang Yang suddenly spoke again. “Ah Qun, come here, I have something to say.”
There was no immediate response from the crowd. Fang Yang, growing impatient, called again, “Ah Qun!”
A man from the crowd quickly pushed through, adjusting the night vision goggles on his nose, nodding and bowing, “Yang Ge!”
Fang Yang took a deep drag on his cigarette, casually crushing it out on the rosewood table, before turning to gaze out the window at the night scene. With apparent indifference, he said, “Catch him.”
Everything happened in an instant.
Following orders had almost become their instinct, and in the blink of an eye, six dark gun barrels simultaneously aimed at Ah Qun, “Ya… Yang ge…” he stammered in fear.
Fang Yang’s expression was hard to make out in the darkness, but the predatory glint in his eyes was unmistakable. “We don’t have anyone named ‘Ah Qun’ here—”
“Ah Qun” froze. “Yang Ge… I…”
“You’re clever, huh? Took the watch but didn’t run, stayed here to watch me make a fool of myself?”
“I… I couldn’t run…” “Ah Qun” forced an awkward laugh. “You’ve got everything locked down tight… it’s like a net trapping me…”
“Oh?” Fang Yang extended his hand. “Then give it back to me—it should still be on you, right? ‘Ah Qun.'”
The man nodded repeatedly and bent down to reach into his pants pocket. Everyone relaxed, thinking the real thief had been right under their noses! But before anyone could blink, the man suddenly crouched low, and with a perfect arc of his right hand, he pulled out a silver gun with the COLT logo clearly visible. There was a burst of gunfire—three shots in quick succession. The six men blocking him fell to the ground, and a painting on the back wall shattered into pieces. A stray bullet fired in the chaos flew to the corner, losing its target entirely.
Two shots, six men down. Such power, such marksmanship—
Fang Yang’s eyes narrowed.
KING COBRA—the legendary premium revolver!
His veins slightly pulsed, and he couldn’t help but grip the area near his waist.
“Don’t let him escape! Capture him!” Liao Qiu commanded. The well-trained guards quickly formed a human wall, and the sound of hurried footsteps filled the hallway—the gunshots had alerted everyone. Once reinforcements arrived, there would be no escape.
“Ah Qun” sidestepped a bodyguard who was closing in, then delivered a backhand punch to another man’s jaw. The man staggered, trembling, and fell to the ground, but not a single scream was heard. A few others drew their guns, but he swiftly swept his leg to knock one aside, then used his hands to push off, leaping gracefully over a one-meter wide desk. At almost the same moment, a barrage of gunfire hit the solid rosewood desk, the smell of gunpowder thick in the air.
He took a deep breath behind the desk—four bullets left, thirteen people…
Damn it, I’m going all in! He gritted his teeth, sprang up, and shot directly at the chandelier on the ceiling. The large Austrian crystal chandelier plummeted to the ground, forcing even the most experienced bodyguards to retreat. This was his chance!
He jumped sideways, firing two more shots, and several men collapsed to the floor. With no obstacles in his path, his left hand reached the cold glass of the floor-to-ceiling window.
Bang!
A potted plant two meters away was blasted a meter high, the sound of shattering too quick to hear, a shot pulverized it, and a burst of flame could be seen—not from a regular gunshot, this explosion was beyond what a handgun could achieve, almost on par with a mini artillery shell!
Only modified MAGNUM rounds could deliver such a high-explosive force. A human body was no match against it. Only a fool would try to face it head-on.
And of course, he wasn’t a fool.
So, he slowly lowered his gun and straightened up.
To his left, another gun still smoking was aimed at him.
No one knew when Fang Yang had made his move, and no one saw the fleeting blaze in his eyes.
“Heh… Desert Eagle.” He glanced sideways, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “As the name suggests.”
IMI’s DESERT EAGLE, the legendary Desert Eagle.
To encounter such a famed gun under these circumstances!
“Flattering,” Fang Yang replied coldly, his smile chilling as he slowly advanced, gun in hand. “Your gun only has one bullet left. Are you still going to continue?”
The man looked at him sideways, still wearing his night-vision goggles. Fang Yang couldn’t see his face, or the crafty, world-weary look in his eyes. “Why not?” He even whistled.
Everyone but Fang Yang was enraged, but Fang Yang only smiled. “You’re a brave kid!” Fang Yang wasn’t one to show mercy. As he spoke, his finger slowly pressed the trigger. “Such a pity about your King Cobra.”
“Maybe not.” The man grinned wickedly, kissing his backup gun. “He doesn’t want me dead! Also—” he added, “I hate it when people point guns at my head!”
The moment the words left his mouth, his right hand, which had been hanging by his side, suddenly shot up. With a gun aimed at the floor-to-ceiling window, he fired. The tempered glass shattered with a loud “crack,” and cold wind rushed in. In an instant, he leaped onto the window frame, blew a kiss toward Fang Yang, and then leapt straight out!
This was the 28th floor! Everyone was stunned.
Even Fang Yang was taken aback for a few seconds before rushing to the window. Looking out, he saw only the vast night, empty, with no one in sight.
How could someone just disappear?
No, he hadn’t disappeared!
A barely visible, discarded cable stretched across to the slightly lower rooftop of the office building opposite. The man spun around, grabbed the silver thread, his special non-slip gloves squeaking against the cable as he swung unsteadily in mid-air, one slip away from smashing to pieces. But he didn’t falter; in an instant, he slid to the nearby rooftop, grabbed the railing with one hand, and somersaulted neatly onto the floor.
Fang Yang was taken aback, nodding in appreciation. This man had clearly planned for a quick escape in case things went wrong!
The man steadied himself, casually tore off the black uniform he was wearing, and tossed it aside. He pulled a Swiss Army knife from the multi-use pocket of his tight pants, knelt on one knee, and swiftly cut the connecting cable. Smiling, he looked up at Fang Yang and waved grandly.
“Yang ge, tell them to chase him!” The group watching from behind was seething. How could they let him come and go as he pleases at Hongyun?!
“No need.” Fang Yang snorted. “Let him run for now. It won’t be so easy to catch him again.” He stood before the shattered window, the wind pulling his short, stiff hair back as he looked down at the man, letting out a genuine laugh for the first time.
This dangerous man. Heh…
Then, Fang Yang raised his hand, making a few gestures.
The man on the rooftop, momentarily puzzled. What? Had Fang Yang gone crazy? His smile froze as he saw Fang Yang’s hands moving. “Morse code?” he frowned, concentrating as Fang Yang spelled out each word distinctly: “You—Got—A—Fake…”
Silence lingered for five seconds before his face turned green. “Damn it!!” He spat and, without caring if anyone above could see, raised his middle finger at the window.
“You’ve got guts, Fang Yang!” he cursed.
