Chapter 7 Fleeing the Capital at Lightning Speed
The couple evaded the patrolling guards and opened the door to the warehouse. A wave of medicinal fragrance hit them.
Inside, besides common herbs like Eucommia, Aconitum, Fo-ti, and Notoginseng, there were also many precious herbs like ginseng, Cordyceps sinensis, Ganoderma lucidum, saffron, antler, donkey-hide gelatin, and Dendrobium candidum.
This dog emperor really knew how to enjoy himself.
Chu Chenyin didn’t linger, she transported all the herbs to the space, not leaving a single herb for the emperor.
Finally, they went to sweep through the various palaces. They took everything they could move, including the emperor’s gem-encrusted chamber pot.
Time was ticking by.
Chu Chenyin and Fu Yanting arrived at the Fu Mansion at the third watch of the night, which was around 3:40 am in modern time.
Marquis Fu and Lady Fu had already prepared the carriages and were ready to leave.
Lady Fu saw Fu Yanting return and asked anxiously, “Eldest, our family’s warehouse is empty, and the beds and bedding in your father’s, your second brother’s, and your third sister’s rooms are all empty. Did you do it?”
Fu Yanting nodded, “Father, Mother, I did it. Don’t worry, I’ve already sent people to hide these things. We’ll take them out after we’re safe.”
Chu Chenyin was relieved. If she hadn’t found Fu Yanting to help, she wouldn’t have known how to explain this.
At this time, the third Miss Fu, Fu Jianghong, said with a puzzled expression, “Strange, our kitchen is also empty. I wanted to bring some dry food with me.”
Chu Chenyin smiled and said, “Third sister, your elder brother and I brought some dry food and packed it. It’s in the carriage in the back room.”
Before they came back, to avoid suspicion from the Fu family, she had specially taken some convenient dry food from the space and placed it in the carriage in the back room.
Fu Jianghong was still puzzled, “So many things, one carriage wouldn’t be enough.”
Fu Yanting stepped forward again to smooth things over, “Some of it was probably taken by the servants in the mansion.”
Fu Jianghong suddenly realized, “Oh, so that’s it. If they took it, then they took it!”
Marquis Fu saw that everything was ready and everyone was present. He immediately instructed, “Eldest, you, your wife, the second, and the third will take one carriage. Your mother and I, along with Laifu and Qing’er, will take another carriage.”
Laifu was the Fu family’s steward, an old man who had served Marquis Fu for many years. He had also followed the army into battle and was a very clever person. Because he was unmarried and had no children, he was willing to follow the Fu family.
Qing’er was a maid who had come with Lady Fu as her dowry. She was determined to follow her mistress, and Lady Fu had no choice but to take her along.
The other maids and servants had children, parents, and families. Naturally, they were unwilling to flee with them. They would leave the Fu Mansion secretly after the Fu family’s carriages left the city, taking the silver that Lady Fu had given them.
“Yes, Father!”
Everyone in the room responded in unison, changing their clothes and boarding the carriages in an orderly manner.
To travel light, they only had three carriages. The first two were for the Fu family, and the last one was for their belongings.
The carriage driver was a trusted aide of Marquis Fu from his time in the army. He was dressed as an ordinary farmer, pretending to be delivering vegetables, and took a small road leading out of the capital.
This small road was discovered by Fu Yanting by chance. It was a small hill by the river. Following the foot of the hill, they passed through a maple forest, then through a cave tunnel, and they could directly reach the city gate.
Along the way, the Fu family was on edge. If the emperor sent someone to kill them at this time, they would all be finished.
Chu Chenyin sat in the carriage and felt the rapid breathing of Fu Jianghong and Fu Xingcheng.
The tense atmosphere made her heart race.
Although she was a time traveler, in this world, she was still just an ant. A sharp knife could cut her throat, making her struggle in pain until she stopped breathing.
She knew this feeling of death all too well.
At this time, Fu Yanting suddenly stuffed a small lychee into her hand and said with his usual arrogant tone, “Don’t be afraid, the dog emperor won’t be able to kill us so easily.”
Chu Chenyin snapped out of her thoughts, took the lychee from him and put it in her mouth, skillfully peeling it with her teeth and eating it. “I’m not afraid, I’m just a little hungry.”
She was really hungry.
The original owner hadn’t eaten for two or three days before she got married. She had eaten a few bites of roasted goose when she lifted the veil, but then she was busy hoarding things, and now she was starving.
Hearing that she was hungry, Fu Jianghong and Fu Xingcheng also came out of their tense mood and each gave her a meat pie.
“Sister-in-law, we left in a hurry, eat this first.”
Chu Chenyin quickly took it, “Thank you, second brother, thank you, third sister.”
She finished speaking and devoured the meat pie.
The carriage sped forward, the ride was bumpy. When a hint of fish-belly white appeared in the sky, they all safely left the city.
However, it was too early to escape the pursuit after leaving the city. They had to hurry north.
As the first rays of sunlight of dawn shone, Prime Minister Wan, with a group of soldiers and guards, surrounded the marquis mansion and rushed in together.

i kinda wish the meteors (? they described it as fire stones or something but im assuming they meant meteors) doesnt happen because having to see the emperor deal with that situation is a bigger face slap than them dying plus it would be really funny to see them struggle
