Chapter 50: Interrogating Her Like a Criminal
Upon hearing that there were other educated youth injured, Wang Weihua felt extremely nervous.
If something happened to these educated youth, he, as the team leader, would be in big trouble.
Moreover, Guo Miao and Lu Zhenting were different from other educated youth.
When these two individuals went to the countryside, they were specifically told to be looked after by their superiors.
Although Wang Weihua didn’t know their true identities, he was aware that they were definitely not ordinary.
If something happened to them, he might find himself in even deeper trouble.
Thinking of this, Wang Weihua immediately arranged for his team members to report to the police as Su An suggested, and the rest of the team followed him up the mountain.
Su An was responsible for leading the way, guiding Wang Weihua and the other team members to the location of the spies.
Upon seeing the dozen spies tied up on the ground, Wang Weihua’s eyebrows twitched a few times. “Su Zhiqing, did you really catch all these spies?”
Su An didn’t want to keep a low profile. Others would be less likely to provoke her if they knew her strength.
“Yes, Captain, I caught all these spies. They are undermining the interests of our country, so I couldn’t let them go if I encountered them.
Captain, you guys should carry Lu Zhiqing and Guo Zhiqing down the mountain to the hospital first; I’ll just keep an eye on this.”
Wang Weihua knew Su An’s abilities.
She could kill wild boars before, and now she had caught so many spies.
It seemed that Su Zhiqing’s strength was far beyond their imagination.
Thus, Wang Weihua felt comfortable letting Su An stay alone in the mountains, and he wasn’t worried about her.
He first arranged for people to carry Lu Zhenting and Guo Miao down the mountain.
The two men’s clothes were covered in blood, and they appeared seriously injured.
However, Wang Weihua glanced at the spies on the ground, and they seemed to be in worse condition. Several of them were dead, and the survivors were also seriously injured.
As Lu Zhenting went down the mountain, he called out to Su An, “Su Zhiqing, I’m heading down first. You need to be careful and pay attention to your safety.”
Su An heard Lu Zhenting’s concerned tone and raised an eyebrow, teasing him, “You care about me?”
Lu Zhenting: “…”
Why did he feel that Su An’s question was a bit ambiguous?
But he admitted in his heart that he did care about Su An.
Seeing that Lu Zhenting didn’t respond, Su An said seriously, “I’m just kidding; don’t worry, these people can’t do anything to me.”
Lu Zhenting chose not to say anything more.
Regarding the display of strength Su An had just shown, he really didn’t need to worry.
While waiting for the others to go down the mountain, Su An stayed alone with the spies.
After about three hours, she finally saw the police officers arriving.
Fortunately, Sun Xinxin had prepared some rice balls for her today, which helped sustain her; otherwise, she would have starved.
These police officers were incredibly slow. Su An inwardly cursed them for wasting so much time.
When the police officer arrived, he asked Su An about the situation, then began to handle the spies and prepare to take them down the mountain.
Just as Su An lazily got up and prepared to head home, a female police officer who had come with them said, “Comrade, you need to come with us.
We need you to explain the specific circumstances surrounding the arrest of these spies.”
Su An replied somewhat unhappily, “It’s almost dark; I have to go home for dinner. If you want to know the details, wait until I get home and finish eating.”
Seeing Su An’s attitude, the female police officer frowned in annoyance. “Comrade, please cooperate with our police work.
Is your eating more important, or is the safety of our country more important?
These spies are related to the interests and safety of our nation.
I hope you can understand the overall situation.”
Su An felt a surge of anger when she heard the phrase “understand the overall situation.”
In her previous life, she had been too “aware of the overall situation,” sacrificing herself for others, which led to her miserable fate.
After the painful lessons from the Su family’s exploitation, Su An had come to understand an important truth: sometimes, it’s better to be a little selfish.
Her cold gaze fixed on the female police officer. “What? I helped you catch spies, and instead of thanking me, you won’t even let me eat?
Is this how you treat heroes who capture criminals? If I had known this, I wouldn’t have bothered to help.”
The female police officer was taken aback by Su An’s toughness.
The ordinary people she had met before were all respectful towards them, the police.
Even small-time gangsters would cower when they saw the police.
But Su An showed no fear at all.
The female police officer felt her displeasure rise. “It’s unreasonable for a female comrade like you to arrest more than a dozen spies.
How do we know you’re not an accomplice? You should cooperate with our investigation to ensure you don’t pose a threat to our country.”
Su An’s anger intensified at the female officer’s words.
Was she trying to accuse her?
How could Su An be someone who was easily bullied?
With a swift kick, Su An struck a thick tree trunk on the ground with a loud bang.
The female officer gasped, “You… what do you want to do? Are you planning to attack the police? If you attack an officer, that’s illegal. Do you want to be locked up?”
Su An’s face was icy as she glared at her and sneered, “What do I want to do? I’m just dissatisfied with how your police handle things.
Do you have any evidence that I’m an accomplice? Isn’t evidence necessary for case handling? Do you want to frame innocent people without proof?
You eat the food grown by our people, and our citizens’ taxes support you. Is this how you serve the people? I think you’d be better off not being a police officer; with your mindset, you’re not worthy!”
The female officer felt her face flush with anger at Su An’s words, wanting to retaliate.
But Su An wasn’t afraid of her; she laughed defiantly. “What’s wrong? Do you still want to hit me? Do you think just because you wear a badge, you can bully ordinary people at will?
Go ahead; hit me, and I won’t fight back. But I will definitely find your superior to discuss this later. Is this how you police treat the masses?”
Despite her anger, the female officer hesitated. She knew if word got out that the police were bullying citizens, they would be in serious trouble.
Just then, Xu Zhihong, the director of the Public Security Bureau, heard the commotion and came over to investigate.
The female officer began to complain, framing Su An as a suspect who refused to cooperate with their investigation.
Su An stood there with her arms crossed, looking defiant.
After the female officer finished her complaints, Su An sneered, “If you suspect me, please show me the evidence. If you have proof, feel free to arrest me. But in the absence of evidence, don’t go too far and throw accusations my way.
There are so many spies in Qingshui County. If anything happens, it will reflect poorly on your police force.
I helped you capture these spies, yet instead of gratitude, you treat me like this.
If I had known it would be thankless, I wouldn’t have involved myself and let you handle it.
