Chapter 29
Tonight, she would be going on a mission. She would be like the brave soldiers she had seen in documentaries, fearless and determined.
Being transported to this book wasn’t her wish, but the path she was on now was one she had chosen herself. It was what her heart desired.
She slept for a few hours, and when she opened her eyes again, the car had stopped.
“Get out!”
Yu Fei shouted, and everyone quickly got out of the car. The other squad was already lined up, wearing combat uniforms and holding guns.
They looked fierce and valiant.
Li Xiaoxiao walked beside Shen Youran. When she saw the squad, she took a deep breath. “Wow, they’re so cool!”
Shen Youran nodded in agreement. She thought so too.
After both squads lined up, the squad leaders stood aside, and Li Shunyi explained the situation. “With your experienced combat squad leading this new squad, I hope you can successfully complete this mission.”
“You will be on the front line for 24 hours. According to our information, the spies should arrive tonight or tomorrow night.”
“I’ll be in charge of the rear.”
“Huang Weiwei will be in charge of deployment. She will be the overall leader of this mission. Everyone must listen to her commands.” Li Shunyi handed the leadership position to the captain of the experienced squad.
Yu Fei would be her assistant.
Yu Fei and Huang Weiwei went into the bushes. This was the border. As long as they crossed it, the spies would have successfully leaked the information. So they had to wait there.
The two of them went in to examine the terrain, then assigned different positions based on each person’s strength.
Shen Youran was assigned to a slightly more remote area.
“You’ll stay here and watch. If any stragglers come out from here, you go after them. We’ll come to support you as quickly as possible!” Yu Fei finished and went to arrange another person.
She had a lot of trust in her.
Based on what they had learned in the army, Shen Youran found a place, concealed herself, and patiently began her watch.
As soon as Yu Fei left, Huang Weiwei smiled at her. “According to our guess, if the spies really come from the side we think, this position is very important. We need someone with super strong fighting ability here. Is this girl capable?”
“Yes.”
Yu Fei said only one word, and Huang Weiwei didn’t ask any more questions. If they needed to investigate anything, they would talk about it after the mission was over.
After arranging everyone, the two captains also took cover.
In this era, they didn’t have sophisticated equipment. If anything unusual happened, they could only rely on the individual reactions of the people they had arranged.
After arranging all the positions, they officially began the mission.
Shen Youran crouched in the grass and looked up at the full moon in the sky.
The prosperous peace of the future was bought with the blood of people from every special period.
Tonight, she would be carrying out her first mission. She couldn’t describe how she felt, but if she encountered anything, she would fight with all her might.
Even if it meant sacrificing her life.
But what about the milk ball?
Shen Youran felt a little sad when she thought about it, so she simply pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind.
She didn’t know how long she had been crouching there, but her legs were starting to go numb. She gently pressed them with her fingertips.
As soon as she did that, she saw a figure in the distance. Then she heard rustling sounds. She took a deep breath. Wasn’t that the spy?
Shen Youran didn’t act rashly. Instead, she pushed aside the grass and took another look.
The person was dressed strangely, and he was holding something in his hand. He was talking in a strange language, but his voice was low.
Later, he threw the thing in his hand into the grass. He seemed to be furious and kicked the stone in front of him hard.
Shen Youran looked to the left and right. The distance between them was about 70 to 80 meters. It was too late to call for help now.
“Over there!”
Just as Shen Youran was thinking, a voice came from a distance. The person she was watching suddenly started to run.
She listened for a few more seconds. She could hear fighting in the distance. That meant the spies had come tonight and had already clashed with the people there?
Had Huang Weiwei and the others already taken action?
This thought flashed through her mind, and Shen Youran didn’t hesitate. She charged out like a leopard in the night and directly pinned the spy to the ground.
This spy was very strong. As soon as Shen Youran pinned him down, he rolled over and jumped up, and the two of them began to fight.
The person on the other side was yelling at Shen Youran in a foreign language. It was clear that he was a real spy, so he was ruthless every time he attacked.
She had joined a new squad and her training tasks were much heavier than before. Plus, she had been tempered by the spring water, and her physical fitness had improved countless times.
With her experience in Taekwondo and martial arts from her previous life, Shen Youran saw her chance and slammed her fist into the spy’s lower back, hitting him right in the small of his back.
“Ah!”
The spy cried out and punched back. Shen Youran was busy looking for his weakness, so she was hit hard in the waist. She winced in pain and shook for a couple of seconds.
Fortunately, the punch wasn’t in vain. She had indeed noticed something strange about the spy. His left hand seemed to be unable to exert much force.
Now that Shen Youran had discovered it, she was going to be ruthless!
She deliberately went around his left side, giving the spy the illusion that she could be easily taken down.
She took two steps back to dodge, and the spy, thinking she was afraid, continued to attack.
Just as the spy attacked, Shen Youran jumped up and kicked his left shoulder, then twisted his left arm to the side, swept her leg, and pinned him to the ground.
After pinning him down, Shen Youran didn’t hesitate. She raised her fist and punched him again and again.
In the end, he was knocked unconscious.
“Whew!”
Shen Youran collapsed on the ground and gasped for breath. She had been punched twice, and now her shoulder and waist were aching.
“Did someone come this way?”
“Yu Fei assigned a newbie here. I don’t know how she’s doing!”
The voices came closer and closer. Shen Youran struggled to get up and called out, “I’m here!”
Hearing the voice, Huang Weiwei and Li Shunyi quickly came over. Seeing the spy leader lying at Shen Youran’s feet, covered in blood, their eyelids twitched.
Although the spy leader had been taken down, Shen Youran’s fighting ability was too strong!
Especially Li Shunyi. He had always thought Shen Youran was very powerful, but now he had once again refreshed his understanding of her.
This spy leader was the strongest fighter among the spies. They had been capturing the others, and the spy leader had been covered by them as he ran this way.
Who knew he would be taken down by Shen Youran. She was the one who had truly achieved a great feat!
“You’re amazing!” Li Shunyi walked over and leaned over. He quickly helped her up. “Do you know who you’ve stopped?”
Shen Youran waved her hand. “I don’t want to know. I just know he doesn’t look like a good guy, so I stopped him. I want to rest for a bit.”
She had been fighting with all her might, and all her strength was gone. Now she had to find a place to rest and drink some spring water.
Otherwise, she would collapse.
Li Shunyi and the others helped her back. The remaining two took the unconscious spy leader away.
Because Shen Youran was too tired, and Li Shunyi still had to arrange for people to send the spies back, they didn’t continue the topic.
But after a while, everyone knew.
Li Xiaoxiao, who was the gossip of the squad, rushed over and asked Shen Youran, “Did you really stop the spy leader?”
“You’re so amazing. I heard that the spy leader is very powerful. It takes two people to stop him. Your fighting ability is incredible!
