Chapter 10: Preparations for Departure

After confirming that Physician Zhou would accompany them on their journey, Lin Luoluo decided they would set out in seven days. This would not only give her more time to recover but also allow additional preparations for the journey.

Once she sent Physician Zhou off, Lin Luoluo returned to her room and lay on the bed, lost in thought.

“Back then, I clearly drank the contraceptive tea. Even if there was a slip, it should only have been two months. It must be the effect of the spiritual spring water.”

Her hand unconsciously rested on her lower abdomen as she thought to herself, “Child, thank you for coming into my life.”

In the following days, Lin Luoluo, accompanied by Chun Tao, explored the entire Yancheng. She bought various food items, clothing, and daily necessities, had them delivered to her home, and stored them in her spatial dimension.

“Big Sister, are you a fairy?” Lin Wanwan and Chun Tao asked in unison.

Their gazes, filled with curiosity, made Lin Luoluo chuckle.

“I’m not a fairy,” she replied. “When I was in a daze during my illness, part of my soul traveled to a place called Earth. It’s a world very different from ours—no wars, everyone has enough to eat and wear, and both boys and girls can go to school. Women can become officials and even work to support their families. Their technology is advanced, with airplanes that fly like birds, trains that carry hundreds or thousands of people, cars that move faster than carriages, and ships that sail in the water.”

“In that world, I was an orphan. No parents, no siblings—I lived alone for over twenty years. One day, I was struck by a beam of light that brought me back here. That light was the space you see now. It’s bound to my soul, and no one else can take it, even if I die. Though the space isn’t large now, it can expand, and crops grow quickly inside. Food stored there never spoils, and hot items stay hot no matter how much time passes.”

After calmly explaining everything, Lin Luoluo fell silent, giving them time to process what she had said.

It was a long while before anyone spoke.

Lin Zhong was the first to react, dropping to his knees. The others quickly followed, including Lin Zirui and Lin Wanwan, who knelt as well, though their expressions were puzzled.

“I, Lin Zhong, swear today that I will never reveal what I have learned. I vow to follow Miss Luoluo for life and never betray her. If I break this vow, may heaven strike me down.”

“I, Lin Lishi (Huzi, Chun Tao)… If I betray this secret, may heaven strike me down.”

“I, Lin Da (Lin Yi, Lin Er… Lin Shi)… If I betray this secret, may heaven strike me down.”

Seeing everyone swearing oaths, Lin Zirui and Lin Wanwan scratched their heads in confusion. But sensing the solemnity in the air, they quickly followed suit.

“I, Lin Wanwan, swear that if I reveal my sister’s secret, I will get pimples on my face and be ugly forever!”

Lin Wanwan nervously touched her face, afraid pimples might appear immediately. Then she declared loudly, “Big Sister, Wanwan will never tell! WanWanwants to stay pretty, not ugly!”

“I, Lin Zirui, swear that I will never reveal Big Sister’s secret about making things disappear. If I do, I won’t be able to get married!” Lin Zirui blushed deeply as he finished.

“Uncle Zhong, everyone, please rise. You are all family I trust, which is why I’ve shared this with you.”

Lin Luoluo helped Lin Zhong up and motioned for the others to stand as well.

The group rose, their eyes shining as they looked at her. Feeling overwhelmed by their intensity, Lin Luoluo stepped back slightly and smiled nervously. “Ahem… If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll answer whatever I can. Just… don’t look at me like that.”

“Miss, Big Sister…” The questions came pouring in all at once.

“Stop! One at a time! I can’t keep track of all of you talking at once!” Lin Luoluo rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on.

Lin Zhong and his wife watched the younger ones with amused smiles as they vied for the chance to ask their questions.

“I’ll go first!” Lin Da raised his hand enthusiastically.

The room fell silent, and everyone nodded for him to proceed.

“Big Sister, can those airplanes really fly as high as birds?”

“Yes, they can carry hundreds of people and fly above the clouds.”

“Wow, that’s amazing!” Gasps of awe filled the room.

“Big Sister, is it true that women can become officials there?”

“It’s true.”

“Big Sister…”

For over an hour, Lin Luoluo patiently answered their questions one by one.

Finally, Lin Zirui and Lin Wanwan hugged her tightly.

“Big Sister, you’re not alone anymore. Wanwan will always be here with you.”

“And you have me, too,” Lin Zirui added. “I’ll protect you, Second Sister, and our little brother.”

Touched by their words, Lin Luoluo’s heart swelled with warmth. “Yes, Big Sister is very happy to have you all.”

A single tear of happiness rolled down her cheek, and her face lit up with a radiant smile.

In that moment, Lin Luoluo seemed to glow with a soft, gentle light in their eyes.

“Big Sister’s smile is so beautiful!” Huzi scratched his head shyly.

“Big Sister is the most beautiful no matter what!” Chun Tao’s declaration was met with unanimous agreement.

Lin Luoluo never expected such ordinary things from her modern life to win her a crowd of devoted admirers in this ancient world.

“Alright, that’s enough questions for now. Lin Da, take this silver and gather a few people to buy some food from the restaurant. No cooking tonight,” she said, handing him a pouch of silver from her space.

“Understood!” Lin Da took the silver and left with a few others.

Half an hour later, they returned with the meal.

After dinner, Lin Luoluo reminded everyone to rest early so they wouldn’t struggle to wake up the next morning. Then she retired to her room and quickly fell asleep, exhausted from the day’s activities.

While Lin Luoluo slept soundly, the rest of the household, still reeling from the day’s revelations, struggled to close their eyes. The next morning, each of them sported a pair of dark circles under their eyes.
